QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

Abortion is the taking of a human life, created in God's image. I have always been and will always be pro life from conception till natural death. Every person has dignity as a creation of God regardless of life's circumstances

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

Never. I have voted to protect life throughout my political career. I was chairman of Federal and State Affairs in the Kansas Legislature and was responsible for passing numerous pro life bills during my previous tenure.

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Strongly Agree

The growing pre-born child is a living, human, person and deserves legal protections like all other human beings

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Strongly Agree

In the current culture, our technology has out paced our value system. I have, and will continue to push for an adoption mechanism that includes frozen embryos, or so called "snow-flake" babies. We strongly support adoption for "born" babies and can do so here as well.

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Strongly Agree

Strongly agree. Abortion inducing drugs are unsafe in many cases and no matter how it's done ... it's still he taking of a human life

ECONOMY

What is your position on the minimum wage?

The market should set the wages for a job performed. The minimum wage artificially inflates the economy.

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

As a real estate broker, I understand the importance of private property rights and the ability to gain wealth by owning a home. As a small business owner, I know that markets must be free from burdensome regulations. Economic growth doesn't come from expanding government, but from creating a low tax state with a non-invasive regulatory environment that fosters private sector growth. We need more taxpayers, not more and nigher taxes.

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

Kansas has 105 counties, 286 school districts, 1,404 townships, 627 cities, water districts, fire districts, etc and they all have taxing authority in addition to state taxes. We must consolidate local units of governments and services. We can't continue governing with an 1800's and 1900's form of government. We must institute a DOGE style audit of all state agencies. Move to zero based or priority based budgeting

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

In the right sense, government and church are separate in our functions, but both operate under God's authority. The church has the ministry of reconciliation and administers grace to a sinful world. Government, under God's authority, administers justice and protects citizens. The secular view of separation is wrong .. they insist that people of faith stay out of government, but God wants people of faith to uphold his truths and principles in the church, government, and in the family

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Government can't infringe on rights of conscience. For example, forcing a health care worker to participate in an abortion or transgender surgery would violate their conscience and that individual or business should have legal protections. We must also apply a common sense approach when rights of conscience collide with an ungodly world view. For example, a court staffer or a judge can't secretly release a prisoner because they don't believe in incarceration.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

C is the closest to what I believe. I wish that all health care was private, but our health care system is so structured and reliant on Medicaid and Medicare that it would be really difficult to move away from that without a major overhaul. The more government is involved in health care the more costs rise and care is rationed. The best system seems to be Medi-Share and other programs like it.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Strongly Disagree

That moves the dignity of the individual to an economic metric. The next thing is mandatory euthanasia, selective abortions, rationed health care, and the list goes on. We are created in God's image, each person having value simply because they are human beings. Our daughter was born with Spina Bifida. Some doctors gave us no hope and suggested institutionalizing her. Heaven forbid!! Today, she is married, gives Ted talks, has a journalism degree, and is active in her church.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

Agree 100%. We must root out all communist influences, beginning in our education system. Accurate American history should taught, warts and all. But we must stress the exceptionalism of our republic and our Judeo-Christian roots, teaching about the values of a capitalist free market sysrem

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Our common bond is born from our Biblical roots. As nations, we are the strongest (republic) democracies that promote freedom. We are joined at the hip.

IMMIGRATION

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Strongly Disagree

Sanctuary cities were a creation from scripture to insure that an individual involved in an accidental manslaughter had protected rights against a vengeful entity seeking retaliation. It set a foundation for our modern courts, fair trials, and appropriate justice. Today, the secular left has abrogated the concept to provide sanctuary for lawbreakers without any justice involved.

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Agree

Education must be a function closest to the people. While probably well intended, the nationalization of our education system has turned into an indoctrination system, not an education system.

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Agree

We must "retake" our education system, giving parents control of where their children attend. Our schools, and particular most university settings have become indoctrination schools for social activism and for socialism

VALUES

Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.

Strongly Agree

It is the parents responsibility and privilege to raise their children to become good, functional adults in our society. Parents pass on morals and values to the next generation. That's God's plan. We must never allow schools to indoctrinate our children, or purposely keep information away from parents as it relates to the childs well being.

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Strongly Agree

Child abuse is not strong enough to describe this. We are created male and female and that is set at conception. Any attempt to alter that is a total abrogation of who we are.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Agree

Marriage is an institution created by God to reflect the relationship between Christ and His Church. Marriage is the structural fabric of our culture. As we see the family structure fall apart, we also see the degeneration of our society.

I support the expansion of gambling in my state.

Strongly Disagree

Gambling is addictive and takes money out of circulation in our state. It is the opposite of economic development. Local money comes to a local casino and is moved to the casino managers out of state. For many, it's just entertainment .. but it's bad business.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Born again as described in Scripture, sealed in the Spirit, adopted into the family of God, given eternal life in the presence of God under the Lordship of Christ Jesus, living in His Kingdom, free from condemnation for a sinful nature, now with ability to be free and live a life of joy, expressing the spiritual fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Note: see Bible.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Election integrity is the foundation of a free society. If our election results are in question, then we no longer can have confidence in our system of government. Election day is the end of voting. Show a valid photo ID. No ballot harvesting. Clean up all election rolls. Only citizens of the voting district should be allowed to vote.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

Some political figures want to take money away from people who have never been slave owners and give it to people who have never been slaves. No.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

Men and women are created equal, but different. Setting aside the moral implications, it is violation of Title IX that gives girls an opportunity to compete in athletics on an equal basis with other girls. It is very discriminatory to women if we continue to allow this practice. It must be banned. Looking at it spiritually, it is an affront to the way God has created us.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

Strongly Disagree

Contrary to the “97 % Consensus”… There is no Climate Emergency. Any Public Policies based on that assertion are illegitimate, contrary to factual evidence, and any monies dedicated to “solve this purported Emergency” represent a significant, totally unnecessary, displacement of Taxpayer Earnings. (taken from Impact Kansas.org, as described by a nationally respected Geo-Physicist)

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Probably nuclear if I have to pick one. I am an "all of the available energy sources" person, so long as it makes economic sense and we're not subsidizing it.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Conservative? Very Conservative? When I consider my views, I think they are practical, common sense, functional views

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

Never have, never will

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

Never have, never will

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?

Initially there is punitive action taken. Ultimately, our hopeful goal is rehabilitation, reconciliation, and restoration. That takes a redeemed , repentant heart. I strongly support prison ministries. It's often the place people are the most receptive. Unfortunately, some individuals commit crimes that are of such a heinous nature that they must stay incarcerated forever.

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Strongly Agree

Our children are to be protected, not preyed upon. This issue has exploded with the internet and has to be controlled.

Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.

Strongly Agree

Sharia law is the opposite of our legal system. It's goal is to take away our freedoms and remove our Judeo-Christian system of laws.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Convicted felons shouldn't be able to own guns. Other than that, the 2nd Amendment is a personal right. As the previous chair of Federal and state Affairs in Kansas, I passed constitutional carry, personal right not just a militia right, right to hunt, and a variety of 2nd amendment protections.
