Public funding should support legitimate health care services, including contraception, cancer screenings, family planning and reproductive health care. I don’t believe government should deny patients access to those services simply because the provider also performs abortions permitted by law.

I support safe, legal abortion and believe pregnancy decisions should be made by the patient in consultation with medical professionals, not politicians. I oppose medically unnecessary restrictions and support appropriate medical exceptions when a pregnancy threatens a patient’s life or health.

I value human life, but I don’t support giving a fertilized egg the same legal status as a born person. That approach can affect abortion, contraception and other reproductive health care. These difficult medical decisions should be guided by patients, families and doctors, not a blanket government mandate.

I support IVF and believe decisions about unused embryos should be made by the people undergoing fertility treatment in consultation with their doctors. I don’t believe government should give embryos the full legal status of a born person or interfere with families making difficult medical decisions.

North Carolina’s $7.25 minimum wage is too low. People who work full time should be able to afford the basics. I support raising it responsibly over time while recognizing the pressures small businesses face.

I strongly support private property and free enterprise. Small businesses are especially important in our communities. Government should set fair rules, protect workers and consumers, and prevent abuse, while giving businesses room to grow and compete.

Require stronger oversight of state contracts and outside consultants; review programs for duplication and poor results; make major spending decisions more transparent; strengthen audits and accountability; and stop passing costs onto taxpayers for poorly planned projects.

It means government shouldn’t establish, promote, or favor a religion, and it shouldn’t interfere with anyone’s right to practice their faith. Religious freedom also includes the freedom not to practice a religion. Government should treat people of all faiths, and those of no faith, equally.

Religious freedom deserves protection, but it shouldn’t become a blanket license to discriminate. Businesses serving the general public should generally serve the public fairly. At the same time, government should respect genuine constitutional protections for religious belief and expression.

B. I believe every American should have access to affordable healthcare, including a strong public option available to everyone. People who want private insurance should still be able to choose it. No one should go without needed care because they can’t afford insurance.

Government can study healthcare costs using anonymous health data without maintaining a database identifying people by their medical conditions. Medical information is deeply private, and government should collect only what is necessary and protect it carefully.

Yes. Israel is an important American partner in a difficult region, and the United States has legitimate security and diplomatic interests in maintaining that relationship. But friendship between nations doesn’t require agreement with every action of an Israeli government. U.S. policy should support Israel’s security, protect civilian life, uphold international law, and work toward lasting peace and security for Israelis and Palestinians.

I don’t think “sanctuary city” is a very useful label. Local police should enforce local and state criminal law and cooperate appropriately with federal authorities. At the same time, people shouldn’t be afraid to report a crime, seek medical help, or send their children to school because of immigration status.

Education should remain primarily under state and local control, but eliminating the U.S. Department of Education would be a mistake. Federal support for students with disabilities, low-income schools, college aid, civil rights enforcement, and education research still matters.

Foreign funding should be fully disclosed and closely regulated, with prohibitions where national security or academic independence is at risk.

No single source can do it alone. I support a reliable mix of nuclear power, renewables, battery storage, and other dispatchable generation, along with a stronger electric grid. Reliability, affordability, and environmental impact should all matter.

The goal should be public safety, equal justice, accountability, and rehabilitation where possible. Violent offenders should be held accountable, but the system should also reduce repeat crime, treat people fairly, protect victims, and help those who can return successfully to their communities.

Children should be protected from sexual exploitation online. Government has a legitimate role in enforcing laws against predators, trafficking, grooming, and child sexual abuse material while respecting constitutional rights and avoiding unnecessary surveillance of law-abiding people.

The Constitution and American law govern our courts. No religious law, whether Islamic, Christian, Jewish, or otherwise, should override civil law or constitutional rights. At the same time, Americans are free to follow their religious beliefs voluntarily in their private lives.

I support the Second Amendment and the right of law-abiding citizens to own and carry firearms. We should enforce existing laws against violent offenders and keep guns out of the hands of people legally prohibited from possessing them. Any new restrictions should be narrowly written, evidence-based, and respect due process.
