QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Neutral

I reject the premise that valuing life can be reduced to a legal mandate beginning at conception. I believe in protecting human dignity throughout life: investing in women’s health, prenatal and maternal care, feeding and educating children, helping families afford healthcare and housing, and ensuring seniors can retire with dignity. We should support women and families, not simply call ourselves “pro-life” before birth and abandon people afterward.

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Disagree

Embryos created through IVF should be treated with respect and handled only with the informed consent of the families involved. But giving every embryo full legal personhood could threaten IVF and force families to preserve embryos indefinitely. I support strong safeguards against negligence or misuse while protecting families’ freedom to make deeply personal medical decisions with their doctors.

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

Elective abortion should remain legal before fetal viability, with later abortions permitted when a pregnancy threatens the life or serious health of the mother or involves a severe fetal condition. These are deeply personal medical decisions, and I trust women and their doctors more than politicians. We should also reduce unintended pregnancies through contraception, education, prenatal care, and economic support for families.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

Providers such as Planned Parenthood should remain eligible for public health funding when they provide services covered by those programs, including contraception, cancer screenings, STI testing, and preventive care. Women’s health remains underfunded, and we should invest more in accessible preventive and reproductive care. Federal law already restricts the use of federal funds for most abortions, and I support transparency and accountability for every provider.

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Strongly Disagree

An 1873 anti-obscenity law should not be revived as a backdoor national abortion ban or used to override modern medicine. Medication approved by the FDA should be regulated through current law, medical evidence, and appropriate safety standards. Congress should debate reproductive policy openly rather than using a Civil War-era statute to impose restrictions voters never directly approved.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Free enterprise and private property are foundations of a strong economy and give people the freedom to build businesses, create jobs, own homes, and build wealth. But markets work best when the rules are fair, competition is real, and small businesses and working families are not squeezed out by monopolies or special interests. I support economic freedom with a level playing field for everyone.

People who can afford to pay more taxes should do so in order to provide relief for working families.

Agree

I believe our tax system should be fair and reward work. Working families should not carry a heavier burden while the wealthiest individuals and large corporations benefit from special loopholes and preferential treatment. Those who have benefited most from our economy can reasonably contribute more, while we cut taxes and costs for working families and small businesses and protect incentives to invest, hire, and grow.

The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.

Agree

Washington has a responsibility to spend taxpayer dollars wisely and reduce wasteful spending. I support cutting waste, fraud, duplication, and ineffective contracts before asking working families to sacrifice. Fiscal responsibility should not mean cutting Social Security, Medicare, or other benefits Americans have earned. We should demand value for every taxpayer dollar while growing the economy and responsibly reducing the debt.

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

My priorities are to strengthen independent inspectors general and audit teams; stop DOGE-style “fire first, rehire later” cuts that removed auditors and inspectors only to force agencies to restore critical staff; aggressively audit federal contracts and improper payments; eliminate duplicative programs and outdated systems; and require measurable results before funding is renewed. Real efficiency means cutting waste, not cutting the people whose job is to find it.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is a fundamental right, and government should not compel anyone to abandon their faith. But when a business opens its doors to the public, customers should not be denied ordinary goods or services because of who they are. We can protect sincere religious exercise while also enforcing civil rights laws and ensuring every American is treated equally and with dignity.

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

Separation of church and state protects faith by protecting everyone’s freedom of conscience. It means government respects every religion, favors none, and does not impose religious doctrine in our public schools or laws. My Catholic faith may guide what I choose for my own life, but it does not give me the right to impose those choices on my neighbor. Your faith can tell you what you may not do; it should not tell another American what they may do.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

America is the wealthiest and most powerful nation on earth, and no country should outdo us when it comes to taking care of our own. I believe healthcare should be guaranteed from cradle to grave, so every American can see a doctor, afford lifesaving medicine, and get treatment without risking bankruptcy. I will work toward universal coverage, but I am not wedded to one rigid system. A strong public option can get us there while preserving private coverage and individual choice.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Strongly Disagree

Government should study healthcare costs using anonymous, aggregated data, not create identifiable databases of people based on their medical conditions. Americans should not have to surrender their medical privacy for policymakers to understand healthcare spending. We can evaluate costs, improve care, and identify public health trends without creating records that could expose patients to discrimination or misuse.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

B. As a mother with a son serving in our military, decisions about war are personal to me. America should defend itself, stand with allies, and confront genuine threats, but we cannot police the world or stumble into endless wars. I would rather spend more building schools, hospitals, and strong communities here at home than bombing and rebuilding them abroad. Strength means knowing when to fight, but also having the wisdom not to.

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

The Chinese Communist Party presents serious challenges to our national security, cybersecurity, intellectual property, and economic competitiveness. America should respond by strengthening domestic manufacturing, securing critical supply chains, protecting American technology, and working with allies. Our competition is with the Chinese government and its policies, not with Chinese people or Chinese Americans.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Yes. Israel is an important U.S. partner in a strategically vital region, and cooperation on security, intelligence, technology, and diplomacy serves American interests. But friendship should never mean a blank check. U.S. policy should promote Israel’s security while also protecting civilian life, upholding international law, supporting Palestinian dignity and self-determination, and pursuing a lasting peace.

Islamic terrorism is a threat to the United States' national security.

Choose not to answer

I reject the premise that our national security threats should be defined by a religion. The threat is violent extremism, not Islam or Muslim Americans. I will not treat millions of peaceful Muslims as suspects because of their faith. The FBI has identified white-supremacist, racially motivated, and anti-government extremists among our leading domestic terrorism threats. I will confront violent extremism wherever it comes from, without turning any faith or community into a scapegoat.

IMMIGRATION

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

America should welcome people who come to work, build, reunite with family, or flee persecution through an orderly legal system. Secure borders and legal immigration are not opposites. Remove violent criminals, protect Dreamers, and create an earned path for long-term residents who work, pay taxes, and obey the law. We need an immigration system that is secure, humane, and worthy of America.

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Neutral

“Sanctuary city” is a political label that covers very different local policies, so I do not think a simple yes/no answer is responsible. Local police should keep our neighborhoods safe, not be used as federal immigration agents. Their priority should be violent crime, gangs, trafficking, and threats to public safety. Immigration enforcement must respect due process and judicial warrants. We can enforce the law without making families afraid to report crimes, cooperate with police, or seek help.

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Disagree

Eliminating the Department of Education does not empower communities. It takes resources away from them. I will fight to fully fund public schools, protect students with disabilities and enforce every child’s civil rights. Local educators should lead their classrooms, but Washington must ensure that poor and working-class children are not abandoned simply because of their ZIP code. Public education is a promise America must keep.

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Disagree

I oppose any foreign government buying influence over American schools, research, or public policy, and I support strict transparency and conflict-of-interest rules. But a blanket ban could also block legitimate research partnerships, scholarships, and academic exchanges that benefit American students. The standard should be simple: collaboration is welcome; secret influence, censorship, and pay-to-play are not.

VALUES

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Strongly Disagree

I will not label loving parents as child abusers for supporting a child who is struggling with questions of identity. Children deserve protection, parents deserve respect, and medical decisions should be made carefully, case by case, with families and qualified professionals, not politicians. We should safeguard children from actual abuse while refusing to criminalize families simply for seeking guidance, counseling, or appropriate care.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Disagree

As a Catholic, my faith is deeply important to me, and I respect the right of every faith tradition to define marriage according to its own religious convictions. Government should never force a church to violate its beliefs. But civil marriage belongs equally to all Americans. Government should neither dictate theology to a church nor use one religious definition to deny two consenting adults equal treatment under the law. Religious liberty and marriage equality can, and should, coexist.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

My spiritual values are rooted in loving our neighbors, caring for those in need, treating every person with dignity, and standing up for people who are too often ignored. I believe faith should call us toward service, humility, compassion, and justice, not judgment or division. I respect the many faith traditions represented in our community, as well as those who practice no faith, because freedom of conscience belongs to everyone.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

The right to vote is a constitutional right, and protecting election integrity is essential. I support reasonable photo ID requirements, but if government requires an ID, government should make it free and easy to obtain. Every eligible citizen should have access to a free government-issued photo ID, with convenient options for seniors, students, people with disabilities, and rural communities. We can secure our elections without putting unnecessary barriers between Americans and the ballot box.

EQUALITY

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Neutral

This issue deserves a practical, evidence-based approach, not political extremes. Every person, including transgender Americans, deserves dignity and protection from harassment or abuse. But sports, prisons, shelters, dormitories, and other settings raise different questions of fairness, safety, privacy, and physical differences. I support clear standards tailored to each setting, grounded in evidence, constitutional rights, and the real circumstances involved.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

The most reliable system is a diversified grid: natural gas and nuclear for dependable power, paired with rapidly expanding wind, solar, storage, and transmission. We should use every tool available to keep power reliable, affordable, and resilient.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No. I have never been penalized for sexual misconduct in any civil or criminal proceeding.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No. I have never been convicted of a felony.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Lean Liberal

I’m less interested in labels than in who has power and who the government works for. I believe working people deserve affordable healthcare, strong unions, good schools, clean air, fair wages, and the freedom to live their lives with dignity. I’ll side with working families over monopolies, billionaires, and special interests every time. My politics are simple: working people should have more power, concentrated wealth should have less, and government should deliver for ordinary people.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Strongly Agree

Government has a clear responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation online. That means holding predators accountable, requiring platforms to take child safety seriously, and giving law enforcement the tools to stop trafficking and abuse while respecting privacy and constitutional rights. Children should never be the price we pay for a company’s profits or a platform’s negligence.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I respect the Second Amendment and the rights of law-abiding gun owners. Public safety should focus on dangerous people, not punish responsible citizens. I support enforcing existing laws, effective background checks, keeping firearms from violent felons and domestic abusers, safe storage around children, and court action when someone poses a proven imminent threat, with strong due-process protections.
