QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Strongly Agree

I am just as pro mom and baby as I am pro unborn child.

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Agree

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

In cases where the mother's life is at risk

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Agree

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

People who can afford to pay more taxes should do so in order to provide relief for working families.

Strongly Agree

It is time to completely overhaul our income based taxed system. It unfairly places tax burden on lower- and middle-class earners. Wealthy people do not have or need income since they have wealth. I support replacing income based tax with consumption based tax models, such as the "X Tax" model.

The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.

Strongly Agree

Cutting spending is only part of the solution. In addition to the annual budget being balanced, we must also pay down the national debt. At $39 Trillion, our interest payment alone is now more than our entire national defense budget. Paying interest on loans doesn't build roads, schools, or help people struggling in the economy. The money goes to investors and foreign countries. We need a balanced budget amendment to the US Constitution.

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

1. Repeal the Wild Free Roaming Horse and Burro Act of 1971. A welfare program for wild horses that is no longer needed at a savings of ~$150 million per year. 2. Cease military aid to Israel at $3.8 billion annually. We can be a good partner without Israel being subsidized to the degree it is today. Keep non-military aid. 3. Force Congress to only spend annually what is brought in for revenue, just as each of the states do. Enact a Constitutional Amendment requiring a balanced budget.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Being in business is discretionary as is the choice to use that business.

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

No funding of religious institutions by taxpayer money. No laws that restrict the free practice of religion.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. At the federal level. At the state level, each state can decide based on the desire of their citizens to have other state sponsored health care options.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Strongly Disagree

I think that data can be derived elsewhere.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. I spent 27 years on active duty in the Army as an officer, 2 combat tours in Iraq, and finished as a Colonel at the Pentagon. Strong relations with our allies and a defense capability to secure our interests globally is needed, but we should be careful not to be entangled in treaties and other obligations unless our nation is at risk.

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

The cyber attacks on the USA should alone be considered as an act of war. We should not allow communist China to own land or businesses in the USA.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Yes, they are important. But we as a nation have allowed Israel to have too much influence in domestic politics. We can be close without subsidizing Israel to the extent that we do now.

Islamic terrorism is a threat to the United States' national security.

Strongly Agree

I personally fought against Islamic terrorists, mostly Al Quida, and know the threat they pose. We should be careful to separate Islamic terrorists and state sponsored terrorism from the free practice of Islamic faith.

IMMIGRATION

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Legal immigration should be encouraged. Illegal immigrations should be enforced. All sovereign nations secure their borders. Legal immigration policies need to be updated to ensure business owners can legally get the labor needed.

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Strongly Disagree

If we create zones where one law is not enforced, where does that lead us? What laws do we then pick and choose geographically to enforce?

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Agree

Education does not occur at the federal level. Education is a community, county, and state level responsibility. Taking taxes from the local community level to the federal government level only to have the local schools and districts have to ask by way of grants to get the money back (with strings attached) is inefficient and unnecessary. I support strong public schools where local, county, and states take pride in their role and fully fund their education system. Local control is key.

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Neutral

If they fund it at a local level, without influencing local officials, then that is a choice of the local school board and state by way of state statute.

VALUES

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Strongly Agree

Let children be children. When they are adults, they can decide on their own who they are and what they want to be. Moms and dads, not government must be involved in lives of their children when it comes to sexual identity. Kids seem to be getting a lot of social pressure from social media and other cultural influences. Engaged parents are the key to helping kids grow, learn, and be productive members of society.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Neutral

Yes for those whose religious faith define it that way. I am a Christian and the bible is clear on it. However, I respect that other faiths may have different views. However, it is clear, that marriage, regardless of faith, is a legal commitment and contract that must be respected and honored.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Photo ID is required in my state. I have to show my photo ID for just about everything, not sure why showing it to vote is that controversial.

EQUALITY

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

You can be who you want to be, but not at the expense of others. Your personal liberty is important, but not the extend that it infringes on the rights of others.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Coal and natural gas are powering us now. Renewables are an important augmentation, but not the extent that they are placed on a utility scale on public land. Eventually, we will need to adopt more nuclear power as many other nations have.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

Never

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

Never

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

I am a traditional conservative Republican.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Agree

Yes, but moms and dads have the primary responsibility to be engaged with their children and know what content they have access to. Society does not replace the role of parents.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I am a gun owner. I am a strong 2A advocate.
