QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

Public funds are not used for abortions at Planned Parenthood. These are private funds. So this wouldn't reduce abortions. Planned Parenthood provides many services to the public. This includes reproductive education, STD prevention, and birth control. To cut those services would increase abortions and cause more health problems for the most vulnerable adults and teens. Lack of access to these services increases abortions.

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

I don't believe the government can make these kind of decisions. It must be made by the person, their health care providers and their own spiritual faith and guidance.

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Agree

Health care is a right for all life. From conception to end of life care. And it reduces the number of abortions and unwanted pregnancies. Another reason we need health care for all.

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Neutral

Nothing living should be purposely destroyed when it can be avoided. Which is another reason why health care needs to be a universal right.

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Strongly Disagree

The Government shouldn't be involved in deciding what care you recieve or refuse. This law would increase the number of abortions as people would travel over statelines and take them rather wait and see if they really needed them.

ECONOMY

What is your position on the minimum wage?

Only 10% of jobs should be minimum wage. When 33% of the workforce is earning $20 or less there is a problem with the job market. Our nation has the largest most productive workforce in the world. Yet, our workers aren't given the best wages.

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Agree

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

Audit our budgets. Often there is usually bad spending habits and outdated budget items. Learn newer or more cost effective ways of delivering government services by examining other communities. Look at cost and benefits of red tape. Many times a regulation or policy significantly increases costs with little actual benefits. Invest in housing, prevention clinics, child care, and foster care. For every dollar we invest in our children now, it saves $4 to $11 for the taxpayers in the future.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

It means we are free to practice our faith. It also means the government can't force me to follow a religion I don't believe.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Neutral

Individuals shouldn't be forced to do anything against their faith. They should be free to choose any occupation that matches their own values. An employer should make all the duties of a job clear before hiring them. Private organizations are free to discriminate against anyone they want for any reason. Advertising, "Open to the Public", however, means they are open to everyone and can only deny services for on premises behavior, not just for who they are; like race, religion, gender, etc.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

Healthcare should be a human right. I believe there should always be a government option for health care that is on a sliding scale based on income. I'm fine with private health care as an option. Just like education and legal defense has private options if you can't afford or don't want to spend your income. There should be local clinics in every community that help with preventative care. This saves taxpayers as they usually will end up in the ER for treatment at far more of a cost.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Strongly Disagree

The government shouldn't be keeping tabs on you and your health records. I think that's a violation of your Fourth Amendment Rights. People wouldn't seek medical assistance if the government was watching and reading. We already know; housing the unhoused, treating mental illnesses, and providing access to preventative health care clinics drastically reduce economic costs.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Agree

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

It is important. We need to limit assistance to Israel for defensive purposes only. Not the abilty to wage a sustained war on neighbors and civilians. That would mean anti-missle protection, border protection, and surgical strikes on valid military targets to neutralize threats. As well as providing needed medical supplies, and cyber security. Dropping bombs on civilians, regardless of the rationale, is wrong. We shouldn't ever support it.

IMMIGRATION

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Agree

This is just a distraction. It is not even possible to remove 20 million immigrants. It would cause a collapse of our economy. I support removing undocumented felons. That should be the priority and is possible. We should focus on US corporations hiring illegal labor if we need to prevent immigrants from coming here undocumented. Focus on the cause of the problem. Legal immigration should have a fair and clear path.

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Disagree

The US needs as much education and job training as it can give our youth. We are falling behind China, Europe, and India in education and job creation. There needs to be a minimum standard of education in this country. Every child deserves and has a right to enter the adult world fully prepared with a basic education and job skill. If a state or community can't reach the minimum standards for a child, that is where the federal government must step in. Let states lead, unless they fail.

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Disagree

Why? If foreign nations want to invest in our communities and our future, why not? The problem I see is when we invest in other nations' education and then force them to leave. If we invest $50,000 in a foreign exchange student to be a doctor or engineer, why not get a return on the investment? In graduate school I saw this happen all the time. Taxpayers drop $200,000 on a PhD student in mechanical engineering, then give him the boot on graduation day. It makes no investment sense.

VALUES

Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.

Agree

I agree it is the parents' or legal guardian's primary responsibility to care for and help their child succeed. The problem that arises is some parents neglect or abuse their children. When that occurs others should be able to step in and mediate or correct the problem .

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Choose not to answer

Another distraction and manufactured outrage for division. Nobody supports a child changing genders. There have been few if any recorded instances of a child ( under 14) receiving a sex change. Most of the 1000 teenage gender related operations are boys being treated for breast tissue removal for a condition called gynecomastia. The few other gender surgeries are usually for congenital deformities caused by malformed genitals or accidents that damaged them, such as burns, and injuries.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Disagree

Marriage is defined by society for property and legal protections. God knows your heart and doesn't need society's approval or blessing with a piece of paper. Nor does He care about property and legal standings. He cares only about you. Traditional Marriage started as a man owning women. Buying her from her father. Treating her as property. This was neither loving or holy. Plenty of marriages between a man and woman aren't ordained by God, only society.

I support the expansion of gambling in my state.

Neutral

Gambling can be good or bad depending on how it is implemented. There should be efforts to limit gambling by people who become addicted.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe we are supposed to love each other. Help one another. That all of our actions are with the goal of doing the most loving thing. And being open to the possibility we might be wrong. And open to the possibility we can always do better and do more to help others. And open to the possibility that everyone is on a journey to find out the truth for themselves. We must respect other people who disagree with us. There is no teaching by Jesus that I believe is wrong. He was the perfect example of how a person should live and treat others.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Agree

This is another distraction. People should be required to register to vote with a government issued license. And they are in Washington State. You can't register to vote without a government issued license.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Agree

If something is stolen, it needs to be repaid. Theft is wrong. It doesn't have to be cash. It can be in-kind assistance.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Neutral

Another distraction. Sports should be competitive. Otherwise it isn't really a sport or competition. Create leagues and divisions based on skill sets, not genders. We don't have junior varsity teams at one high school play varsity teams at another. It wouldn't be competitive, even though they are the same gender. Everyone should feel safe in locker rooms, bathrooms, and sleeping quarters. I think we should invest in separate stalls that can lock. It is an easy fix.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

Strongly Agree

We are the caretakers of the planet. We need to be responsible for what we do and how it impacts all life on it.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

The Sun.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Liberal

It is difficult to lump all those together. It depends on which issue, which policy, and how it is implemented. We should strive to love our neighbors, foreigners, and be fair to people who work and contribute. We should try to understand each other. We should seek common ground so we can find solutions and make government work for everyone.

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?

Reform. We all screw up and deserve another chance. In some cases the goal can be limited to just keeping the public safe from the person.

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Strongly Agree

Of course. Our number one job as a society is to protect and prepare the next generation.

Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.

Agree

No religion should be the bases of law in the US. The Constitution should be the bases of all law. Religion should always be a choice not a legal mandate.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

There should be background checks on every firearm sale, or transfer of ownership, every time. Without expections. Firearms should be safely secured when not in use. AR-15 style rifles should not be sold or used in Washington State.
