OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

I was born 3 months after my parent's wedding, in a decade when elective abortion was unavailable and when delivery out-of-wedlock would have had nasty social effects. My mother likely felt pressured into marriage.

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

Proven rape or incest only

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Agree

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Choose not to answer

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Agree

ECONOMY

What is your position on the minimum wage?

I would favor lowering or eliminating minimum wage, while offering skills training to affected workers -- I strongly encourage all workers and high school students to gain skills needed for well-paying jobs and believe schools should offer trainining

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Even the ultra-liberals would be lost without their products of free enterprise -- like their cell phones -- that would never have been developed without it.

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

1. Increase penalties for fraud in seeking government payments. 2. Spend much on fraud investigations. 3. Transfer liability for fraud in state-administered federally-funded programs to the states to encourage their clamping down on fraud.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

Separation of church and state is not the language of the 1st amendment--which prohibits establishing a church. The state should not promote any particular religion (including secularism) over others.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

This reminds me of the cakeshop decision where the Supreme Court ruled against Colorado's attempt to force a cake decorator to make cakes celebrating gay weddings, no artist should ever be forced to support causes they disagree with, whether on religious or other grounds.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

(B) As one who was a student inside UK's NHS, I see flaws in government as sole payer, there must be at least a private system to allow people to opt out of a government system. BUT, I know people who have difficulty getting private insurance due to pre-existing conditions and the US system of overcharging those without insurance is also a problem--so a government backup plan may be appropriate.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Strongly Disagree

I hate the idea of large government databases, both for health and other conditions. This includes hating the dossiers now required by the State Board of Education.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Agree

This may change as I learn more of China's efforts. China does take a longer view than the short election-cycle view in the USA

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Israel is the only functional democracy with any trace of religious freedom in the middle east, the other countries are all dictatorships with heavy anti-christian discrimination.

IMMIGRATION

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Strongly Disagree

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Agree

Feds should stay out of curriculum.

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Neutral

US Schools should be able to get funding and grants of computers, etc. from a wide range of sources, but research universities should not accept foreign funds where that results in transfer of sensitive information overseas.

VALUES

Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.

Strongly Agree

Current State Board of Education is attacking this right.

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Agree

In particular, schools should NOT pressure kids to transition and MUST disclose to parents any request by students to socially transition.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Agree

I support the expansion of gambling in my state.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Jesus is our savior, and he wants us to treat others and we would want others to treat us.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Photo id is readily available, and voting without it opens the way to voting the cemetery.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

Government benefits according to race are prohibited by 14th amendment, this applies to payments on basis for race whether to black, native american, or white

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

Males in female sports have biological advantages not resolved by a year or two of castration-level testosterone. Allowing them into sports deprives deserving women of opportunity.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

Disagree

The political action most advocates push for would devastate the economy and kill millions--and most advocates would hate losing their computers, air conditioners, and cars. Further, the actions most advocates want gives huge advantage to China who is exempted. Some change is desirable, but not what most advocates seem to want.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

nuclear -- as solar and wind are just too unreliable in bad weather. Yes, we've had a few nasty accidents at 3-mile-island, Chernobyl, and Fukoshima, but careful design and siting can overcome some of these issues.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

no

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

no

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?

Reduce crime through enforcement using a combination of deterence and disablement (those in jail are prevented from re-offending until release)

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Agree

Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.

Strongly Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Only restrict those who have a conviction of a violent felony.
