QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?

Schools should play a supportive role focused on the student’s well-being, safety, and ability to continue their education. While schools are not healthcare providers, they are often the first place a student turns in a moment of crisis. That means ensuring students have access to trusted adults like counselors, providing accurate and age-appropriate information, and helping connect them with appropriate resources in the community. It’s also important that schools follow legal guidelines and respect the role of families, while making sure students feel safe, supported, and not alone during a difficult time. At the end of the day, the goal is to make sure no student falls through the cracks and they have the support they need to navigate.

ECONOMY

Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

I believe public education is one of the most important investments we can make in our communities, and that includes strong support for funding from Pre-K through high school. Early childhood education sets the foundation for everything that follows, and consistent, fair funding in K–12 is critical to making sure every student has the opportunity to succeed.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

With regard to public schools, what does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

To me, the separation of church and state in public schools means that schools remain neutral when it comes to religion. It’s not about excluding faith; it’s about making sure no single belief is promoted or favored over another. Educators and students absolutely have the right to their own personal beliefs and to express them appropriately. At the same time, schools have a responsibility to create an environment where everyone feels included and respected, regardless of those beliefs.

IMMIGRATION

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) enhances the safety and security of communities by identifying and detaining illegal aliens.

Choose not to answer

I think safety and security are incredibly important to every community. At the same time, immigration enforcement is a complex issue, and it’s important to recognize that people have different perspectives and experiences with it. For me, the focus, especially in a school context, is making sure every student feels safe, supported, and able to learn, regardless of their background. Schools should be places where kids can focus on their education and feel secure.
