QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Neutral
I do believe someone who can get pregnant should be able to have an abortion if they wish to or if it is medically necessary. From birth do death humans should have a right to life, education, healthcare, food, water, and housing. We as a society should strive to provide this to everyone.
The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.
Strongly Agree
Methods like in vitro fertilization is a marvel of modern technology which allows people who are not able to conceive to still have children. I think this an important process that we need to both protect and make more affordable so it is not only for those with the means to pay for treatment.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
If the mother wants to have an abortion. Over 90% of abortions happen in the 1st trimester, most are not getting an abortion past that unless it is a medical necessity.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Agree
I believe most of our healthcare needs should be handled directly by the government if possible, but in lieu of that these services provide necessary healthcare to those who need it and should be funded.
The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.
Strongly Disagree
I do not believe in restricting abortion-reducing drugs so transportation should not be illegal.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Disagree
There is no such thing as true "free enterprise" as the government will always have a hand in the ability of a large business to operate. There is a difference between private and personal property. For example, personal property is your home that you live in and private property are the dozens of home a real estate corporation owns. Corporations owning a lot of private property has caused massive inequities in our society.
People who can afford to pay more taxes should do so in order to provide relief for working families.
Strongly Agree
No one who has amassed large sums of money would've been able to do it without the public amenities we all pay for like roads for example. In our current system the ultra wealthy take a lot more out of the system than they put in. This has resulted with many in our nation not being able to live a fulfilling life and a crumbling infrastructure.
The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.
Disagree
Our government would be able to get more revenue through taxes by providing jobs that rebuild our infrastructure, providing healthcare for all, increasing investing in public transportation, building nationwide fiber internet, universal childcare, and free public college. This would allow more people to be able to spend money where tax revenue can be generated from sales taxes. Also taxing the rich and closing corporate loopholes would greatly benefit our country.
List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.
Cutting the pentagon budget, no more subsides to wealthy corporations like oil corporations for example, less public private partnerships where middlemen siphon profits from the job that needs to be done.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Agree
We have anti-discrimination laws for a reason. In the past some thought that servicing black people would be against their moral beliefs. If you are a company you should provide the necessary healthcare to your employees for example.
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
To me this means that you cannot base laws on your personal religious belief. Even within the same religion people have different interpretations on how they are supposed to practice. In most cases politicians acting on their religious beliefs is them acting on their personal point of view on those beliefs.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
A Would be the closest to my view, for procedures like elective plastic surgery you can have private insurance covering that. But for the vast majority of medical needs we should have a government handle this for lower costs in both care and medication. Private insurance corporations are still operating at a profit and the best way for them to profit is to deny care.
The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.
Neutral
In a government ran system on some level this will exist as everyone will be on the same plan and we will have to assess how much care is needed.
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
C would be the closest to my view. The United States foreign policy has been taken over by the military industrial complex who profit from more wars. We have seen from the "War on Terror" in the early 2000's, to the Gaza genocide, to the current military operation in Iran, the average person is not benefitting from these wars and the tax money can be better used on fixing our country.
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Disagree
China is one of our largest training partners and this has allowed the US to have cheap goods. With their lack of direct intervention on the many conflicts that we have been engaged in, it does not look like their goal is to engage us militarily. For IP, I would like to loosen our IP laws to spur innovation and the "threats" to IP are only threats to corporate leadership; many who let China use their IP in exchange for cheap outsourced labor.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
It is important in the sense that so much of our policy towards the Middle East is done with Israel in mind. Our relationship with Israel is an outgrowth of the Military Industrial Complex as it primarily relies on arms sales. The arms sales we engage with them has only made things more unstable.
Islamic terrorism is a threat to the United States' national security.
Strongly Disagree
The terrorism we have experienced has been blowback for our policies in the Middle East. Regime change wars of choice has been a much bigger threat to national security.
IMMIGRATION
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Anyone who wants to live here and is not a dangerous criminal. We need to have more robust immigration services in order to document people where they can join the rest of our citizens in the fight for workers rights and they can live without fear of being deported. This would make America safer as immigrants would be more likely to report crimes as they wont fear deportation.
I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.
Strongly Agree
Sanctuary cities were actually advocated for by the police in the cities they are applied to. Sanctuary cities allow undocumented migrants to be able to report crimes witnessed with out the fear of being deported. Without this it would be harder for police to question people if crime was committed in an area with a large undocumented population as less people would want to talk to law enforcement.
EDUCATION
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Disagree
We need more funding for the department of Education and more federal funding of K-12. Many schools are failing because a lot of school funding comes from property taxes, so where you live will have a major impact on the quality of education you will get. Leaving it up to the states will result in more private and charter schools who are less regulated on what they can teach.
Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.
Neutral
I would be suspicious of any foreign government funding education as we would need to know what do they think they would be getting out of it. I do not support foreign governments funding private schools.
VALUES
Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.
Strongly Disagree
Things like puberty blockers are temporary solutions for gender affirming care as once someone is off them they will go through puberty naturally if they do not wish to transition as an adult. Social transitions have been shown to be great for a persons mental health and can allow them a more fulfilling life. Surgical intervention is extremely rare for people under 18, once you are over 18 you should be able to make adult decisions.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Disagree
If that's how you want to treat it in your church you can, but legal marriage is a contract between two people in the eyes of the government. As long as everyone is a human adult, I don't care what paring the two people are in this contract.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I would say I'm agnostic, I spent most of my life as a Christian and Jesus' sermon on the mount still is a heavy influence on my beliefs.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Agree
Yes, the American population does not consistently vote where we max out at 66% of eligible voters voting. There are numerous checks to confirm one person one vote and the documented cases of voter fraud would not have been enough to swing an election.
EQUALITY
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Disagree
We all understand dominant athletes like Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, and Lebron James. These athletes compete against other men and dominate. Trans women have been competing in women's sports since the late 70s and there is no comparable athlete to those listed earlier that I have heard of. The discrimination towards trans women is a focused tested issue to distract people from the real issues in our country.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
We have to transition to renewable energy, unlike fossil fuels, the sources of renewables are in infinite supply and as the technology gets better we will have better yields.
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Liberal
I would imagine the rest of my answers in this questionnaire would show that I would be considered very liberal.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.
Strongly Agree
Yes, this would come down to more regulation on social media companies to allow children to have their own spaces online and not allow them to use algorithms on children.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
We need a gun registry and regular mental health check ups. We would need other structures in place for these like Medicare for all, so mental health check ups would not be only for those who can afford it.
