QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Choose not to answer
I believe healthcare decisions should be made by individuals in consultation with their doctors, not dictated by politics. My focus as Governor is ensuring that all Californians have access to safe, affordable healthcare. I will evaluate funding through a fiduciary lens, prioritizing outcomes, transparency, and patient access rather than political ideology.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
I believe these are deeply personal decisions that should be made by individuals in consultation with their doctors. My role as Governor is to ensure access to safe, legal healthcare while respecting differing views across California. I will approach this issue with balance, focusing on patient safety, transparency, and outcomes rather than political ideology.
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Choose not to answer
I believe this is one of the most deeply personal and debated issues in our society. Californians hold sincere and differing views. As Governor, my responsibility is to uphold the law, ensure access to healthcare, and reduce the need for difficult decisions through better economic opportunity, education, and support systems. I will lead with balance, respect, and a focus on outcomes rather than ideology.
The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.
Neutral
This is a complex issue involving science, ethics, and medical innovation. I believe we should approach it with care, respect, and clear standards that balance ethical concerns with the benefits of research and fertility treatments. As Governor, I will focus on thoughtful, evidence-based policy that respects differing views while supporting responsible medical progress.
The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.
Disagree
California should not restrict access to legally prescribed medications. I believe healthcare decisions should remain between patients and their doctors, within the bounds of state law. As Governor, I will focus on protecting access, ensuring safety, and respecting California’s legal framework rather than expanding federal restrictions into personal medical decisions.
ECONOMY
What is your position on the minimum wage?
Minimum wage should support a basic standard of living, but we must avoid harming small businesses or jobs. I support raising wages alongside lowering the cost of living so Californians see real gains in purchasing power.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
Free enterprise and property rights are essential, but they must work for everyone. My focus is creating an economy that rewards innovation while expanding opportunity. That means reducing barriers to building, supporting small businesses, and ensuring prosperity is broadly shared.
List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.
1) Require a fiduciary standard and blind trusts for all elected officials, including myself 2) Modernize outdated systems to reduce fraud and inefficiency 3) Eliminate duplicative programs and streamline agencies 4) Speed up permitting to reduce costly delays 5) Put all state spending on a public blockchain for real-time transparency
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Separation of church and state means government should not favor or impose any religion, while fully protecting every individual’s right to practice their faith. It ensures freedom of belief for all Californians and keeps government focused on serving people equally, regardless of their personal convictions.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Neutral
This requires balance. I believe in protecting religious freedom while also ensuring people are treated fairly in the marketplace. The goal is to respect individual beliefs without allowing discrimination. As Governor, I will seek practical, balanced solutions that uphold both freedom of conscience and equal access.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
Closest to B. I support a system where government ensures access to affordable healthcare for all, while preserving private options and competition. The goal is better outcomes at lower cost, with more transparency, innovation, and patient choice.
The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.
Disagree
I support using data to improve healthcare outcomes and control costs, but patient privacy must come first. Any system must be voluntary, secure, and focused on anonymized data, not government tracking of individuals. We can improve efficiency without compromising personal freedom.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Agree
China presents real economic and cybersecurity challenges, especially around intellectual property and supply chains. We must protect American innovation and security while avoiding unnecessary escalation. The goal is strength, resilience, and smart competition, not fear or political rhetoric.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
The U.S.-Israel relationship matters, but it must be guided by American interests first. I support our allies, but not blank checks. We should push for restraint, accountability, and diplomacy, especially during times of conflict. Our priority should be avoiding escalation, protecting human life, and keeping the United States out of unnecessary wars.
IMMIGRATION
I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.
Neutral
We need a balanced approach that respects the law and treats people with dignity. Labels like “sanctuary city” have become political flashpoints that create division and risk unintended consequences, including loss of federal support. I support practical policies that prioritize public safety, community trust, and economic reality without turning cities into targets.
EDUCATION
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Neutral
Much of the federal role in education has already been reduced, and recent leadership has shown how limited its impact can be. Rather than debating elimination, we should focus on what works. I support empowering states and communities while ensuring accountability and results. The goal is better outcomes for students, not preserving bureaucracy.
Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.
Strongly Agree
Foreign governments should not be funding or influencing American education. This creates risks to academic integrity, intellectual property, and national security. We must protect our institutions while maintaining transparency and ensuring that education serves American students and interests first.
VALUES
Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.
Agree
Parents play a central role in their children’s health and education, and government should respect that. At the same time, we must ensure children are safe and have access to quality education. The goal is balance: empowering families while maintaining standards that protect and support every child.
Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.
Neutral
This is a complex and sensitive issue. I believe decisions involving minors should be handled with care, involving parents, medical professionals, and appropriate safeguards. My focus is on protecting children’s well-being while respecting families and avoiding political extremes on either side.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Disagree
Marriage is a legal institution that should be equal under the law. I support the freedom of individuals to marry regardless of gender, while also respecting the right of religious institutions to define marriage within their own beliefs. Government should ensure equal protection, not impose one definition.
I support the expansion of gambling in my state.
Neutral
We should reduce addictive, always-on gambling on phones while taking a more thoughtful approach to regulated, in-person entertainment. I support exploring designated, well-regulated districts that generate revenue, create jobs, and keep economic activity in California, with strong safeguards to protect communities.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian and give all credit to Jesus for the blessings and successes in my life. My faith shapes my values of humility, service, accountability, and respect for others. At the same time, I strongly believe in religious freedom. My beliefs are my own, and I would never seek to impose them on others.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Agree
This debate is rooted in an outdated system. In California 2.0, I propose blockchain-based voting to securely verify identity and eliminate this issue entirely. In the meantime, requiring ID is reasonable. We use identification daily for basic activities, and voting should meet a similar standard while ensuring access for all eligible voters.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Disagree
We must acknowledge historical injustices and work to expand opportunity for all. My focus is on forward-looking solutions that improve education, housing, and economic mobility based on need, not race alone. The goal is to create real, lasting opportunity while bringing people together, not dividing Californians.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Choose not to answer
I’m choosing not to answer because I believe focusing on this issue does more harm than good. It fuels division and distracts from urgent challenges like homelessness, wildfires, and corruption. As Governor, my priority is bringing Californians together to solve problems we broadly agree on, while treating every individual with dignity and respect.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.
Strongly Agree
Climate change is real, but the solution is not just regulation, it is building. We need to increase clean energy supply, electrify everything, and modernize our grid. I also propose using mass timber to reduce wildfire risk while building housing, and moving away from a publicly traded utility model toward systems that serve the public.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
Solar plus battery storage at scale. We should blanket California with solar, electrify everything, and modernize the grid to support local generation. Moving away from a for-profit utility model will lower costs and increase reliability.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Moderate
I’m an independent focused on results, not ideology. I believe in balancing economic growth with social responsibility, and bringing practical solutions to California’s biggest challenges. My approach is grounded in common sense, innovation, and serving people over politics.
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?
The goal of the criminal justice system should be to protect public safety, deliver fair and consistent accountability, and reduce repeat offenses. That means focusing on outcomes: preventing crime, supporting rehabilitation where effective, and ensuring consequences for harmful behavior while using resources responsibly.
Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.
Strongly Agree
This should be one of our top priorities. The resources devoted to combating child exploitation are far too limited. As Governor, I will significantly increase resources and coordination to root out predators, especially online. That includes using advanced tools and digital investigators to track and disrupt the financial networks behind these crimes.
Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.
Agree
The United States operates under a constitutional legal framework that must apply equally to all. No religious legal system should override or replace that. At the same time, we must respect the right of individuals to practice their faith freely within the law.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I support bringing balance back to California’s gun laws. Some policies have gone too far, reducing effectiveness and harming economic activity. As a son of law enforcement and longtime gun owner, I support responsible ownership with strong safety standards. I also support modern registration, similar to cars or aircraft, using secure technology to protect rights while improving accountability.
