QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Strongly Disagree
I strongly disagree. I support reproductive freedom and believe deeply personal decisions about pregnancy, abortion, and end-of-life care should be made by individuals, families, and medical professionals — not by politicians. Government should protect people’s rights, dignity, privacy, and access to care.
The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.
Strongly Disagree
I strongly disagree. I support IVF, reproductive freedom, and medical research guided by ethical standards and informed consent. Decisions involving embryos created through artificial methods should be made by patients, families, and medical professionals — not by politicians imposing ideology on healthcare and family planning.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
Elective abortion should be legal and accessible. These deeply personal medical decisions belong to the patient, their family, and their healthcare provider — not the government. I support protecting reproductive freedom, privacy, and access to care, including abortion services, without political interference.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I strongly agree. Planned Parenthood and other reproductive health providers deliver essential care, including cancer screenings, birth control, STI testing, and preventive services. Public funding should support access to comprehensive, affordable healthcare — especially for low-income patients and underserved communities.
The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.
Strongly Disagree
I strongly disagree. The Comstock Act is an outdated law that should not be used to restrict reproductive healthcare or abortion access. Patients should be able to receive legal medication and care without political interference. I support reproductive freedom, privacy, and the right to make personal medical decisions with a healthcare provider.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Disagree
Free enterprise and private property can play an important role in a productive economy, but they must be balanced with strong worker protections, fair wages, consumer safeguards, and corporate accountability. An economy should reward innovation and entrepreneurship while also protecting working families from exploitation and concentrated corporate power.
People who can afford to pay more taxes should do so in order to provide relief for working families.
Strongly Agree
I strongly agree. The wealthy and large corporations should pay their fair share so we can invest in working families, healthcare, education, housing, and infrastructure. Our tax system should reduce inequality, ease the burden on everyday people, and ensure the economy works for those who do the work — not just those at the top.
The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.
Agree
Reducing the national debt matters, but across-the-board cuts are not the answer. We should cut wasteful military spending, corporate subsidies, and tax breaks for the wealthy — not investments in healthcare, education, housing, and services working families rely on. Fiscal responsibility should mean ending waste and corruption while protecting people’s basic needs.
List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.
My top priorities are: ending corporate tax loopholes and subsidies; cutting wasteful Pentagon spending and war profiteering; lowering prescription drug costs by taking on Big Pharma; improving oversight of federal contracts to prevent fraud and abuse; and streamlining bureaucracy so housing, healthcare, and infrastructure funds reach communities faster.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Agree
Religious freedom is important, but it should not be used to deny people equal access to public services, healthcare, housing, or basic civil rights. In a diverse democracy, everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and fairness under the law, regardless of someone else’s personal beliefs
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
To me, separation of church and state means government should not impose religion, favor one faith over another, or use public power to limit the rights of people with different beliefs or no religious belief at all. It protects both religious freedom and equal treatment under the law in a diverse democracy.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
A. I believe healthcare is a human right, not a privilege. Everyone should be guaranteed comprehensive, affordable care, including mental health care, without being denied because of income, employment, or insurance status. Our system should put patients before profits and ensure healthcare is accessible to all.
The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.
Strongly Disagree
I strongly disagree. People’s medical information is deeply private and should be protected, not collected by the government in ways that could be misused or politicized. We can study healthcare costs and improve public health through anonymized data and strong privacy safeguards without creating databases that put personal rights and trust at risk.
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
C. I believe the United States has become too involved in military interventions abroad and should be far more restrained. Our foreign policy should prioritize diplomacy, peace, humanitarian aid, human rights, and avoiding unnecessary wars, while protecting our people and responding when there is a clear and serious threat.
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Disagree
I disagree with framing this issue in overly broad or fear-driven terms. The U.S. should take cybersecurity, trade, and human rights concerns seriously, but our approach must be grounded in diplomacy, international cooperation, and avoiding rhetoric that fuels xenophobia or treats conflict as inevitable. We need smart, accountable policy — not escalation.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
No. The United States should not treat any foreign government as beyond accountability or deserving of unconditional support. Our foreign policy should be rooted in human rights, international law, peace, and the protection of civilians — not blank checks for militarism, occupation, or abuses. We need an independent foreign policy that puts justice and diplomacy first.
Islamic terrorism is a threat to the United States' national security.
Disagree
I disagree with framing this issue in a way that singles out one faith or fuels fear of entire communities. The United States should oppose all forms of violent extremism, regardless of ideology, while protecting civil liberties and rejecting Islamophobia. National security should focus on real threats without demonizing Muslim communities.
IMMIGRATION
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
The U.S. should have a humane, orderly immigration system that protects asylum seekers, respects due process, keeps families together, and creates clear legal pathways for workers, students, and longtime undocumented residents. Immigration policy should be rooted in dignity, fairness, and human rights — not cruelty, fear, or political scapegoating.
I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.
Strongly Agree
I strongly agree. Sanctuary cities help build trust between immigrant communities and local government so people can report crimes, seek help, take their children to school, and access services without fear of deportation. Public safety is stronger when local institutions protect dignity, due process, and human rights instead of acting as extensions of federal immigration enforcement.
EDUCATION
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Disagree
I strongly disagree. Public education is a national responsibility, and the federal government plays an important role in protecting equal access, civil rights, special education, and support for low-income students. We should strengthen public education and invest in students, teachers, and schools — not abandon them to deeper inequality based on zip code.
Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.
Strongly Agree
I strongly agree. A blanket ban is too broad and could harm research, academic exchange, and educational partnerships. What we need is transparency, accountability, and strong safeguards against improper foreign influence — not fear-driven policies that undermine learning and collaboration. We should protect both academic integrity and open education.
VALUES
Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.
Strongly Disagree
I strongly disagree. Transgender and gender-diverse young people deserve dignity, support, and access to evidence-based care guided by families and qualified medical professionals. Labeling their identity or care as abuse is harmful and dangerous. We should protect young people’s well-being, mental health, and civil rights — not scapegoat them for political gain.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Disagree
I strongly disagree. Marriage equality is a civil right, and the government must treat all people equally under the law, regardless of sexual orientation. Religious beliefs should be respected, but they should not be used to deny others equal protection, dignity, or the freedom to marry the person they love.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
My values are rooted in honesty, accountability, empathy, service, and the belief that every person deserves dignity and respect. I respect people of all faiths and those with no religious affiliation. My public service is guided by compassion, justice, and a commitment to serving the common good.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Agree
I agree. Eligible voters should not be disenfranchised because they lack a specific form of photo ID. Election security matters, but it can be protected through multiple secure verification methods that do not create unnecessary barriers for seniors, low-income voters, students, rural residents, or working people. Our democracy should make it easier — not harder — for people to vote.
EQUALITY
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Disagree
I strongly disagree. Transgender people deserve dignity, safety, and equal protection under the law. Policies involving sports and access to facilities should be guided by fairness, evidence, and civil rights — not fear, discrimination, or political scapegoating. No one should be denied basic respect or turned into a target for political gain.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
The most reliable path is a diversified clean energy system: solar, wind, geothermal, battery storage, and a modernized grid. In California and the Central Valley, we should expand renewable energy, transmission, and storage so working families have
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Liberal
I am a progressive, community-centered Democrat focused on working families, civil rights, immigrant dignity, healthcare, and economic justice. My values are rooted in service, accountability, and the belief that government should work for ordinary people — not corporations, the wealthy, or special interests.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.
Agree
I agree. Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation online through strong privacy protections, platform accountability, age-appropriate safeguards, and enforcement against predators and trafficking. We should keep children safe while also protecting civil liberties and ensuring families have the tools and support they need.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
We need universal background checks, waiting periods, safe storage laws, red flag laws with due process, stronger action against illegal gun trafficking, and restrictions on assault-style weapons and high-capacity magazines. We can respect responsible gun ownership while also taking common-sense steps to reduce gun violence and protect our communities.
