QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Neutral
My position on abortion is separate from this question. Since this is such a contested topic, I don't think all tax payers must be responsible for something they are against.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
I believe the woman has the right to her decision, should an elective abortion be allowed.
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Neutral
While I think human life deserves protection, from conception until natural death, however the life of the mother must be privileged in the much earlier stages.
The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.
Choose not to answer
This is a question and topic I need more time to research and reflect on.
The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.
Agree
While I think the Comstock Act should remain partially enforced, I think we must consider this today versus the Victorian moral standards of that era. This along with other questions requires a critical dialogue to come to some understanding of what this looks like today.
ECONOMY
What is your position on the minimum wage?
Minimum wage must increase. Cost of living, the times, place, along with other aspects of one's lived reality, must be consider for one to have a respectable and equitable life.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
However, accessibility must be afforded to all.
List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.
Education. Education. Education. And an effort toward literacy for all, and a serious critical campaign to make the masses more aware of the ramifications of government waste.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
How does one separate church and state? One's religion, with reason, should inform how they navigate realities of life. It's important to acknowledge the reason or reasoning that is detailed. I don't see the church as an emotional entity that marginalizes the reason that religion calls for.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Neutral
I think this is up to the proprietor of any establishment. If I work for someone, I must respect the rules of the establishment or be willing to be removed.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options.
The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.
Disagree
I think the government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess remedies then treatment. I don't think we should put the economic burden before treatment or solutions.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Agree
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
We must consider who all our allies are, and I don't think one deserves any better treatment than another; however, foreign affairs is a chess game above my head. This is why I say that I'm an educator, not a politician. I would like to leave foreign affairs to those who have studied it.
IMMIGRATION
I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.
Agree
I think individuals, in the process of being documented, should have protected spaces; equally important, we, those that have a vested interest in these things, must know who they are and their history.
EDUCATION
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Disagree
I think the Department of Education's actions must be informed by communities and states, in that order.
Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.
Neutral
It's important to know what the foreign governments are asking for their contribution to American education; again, the systems of education must be informed by the needs of their respective communities.
VALUES
Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.
Strongly Agree
Again, all things considered, there must be an educational campaign, not just for children but for adults too. Not everyone is in a position to direct their child's health and educational well-being. This requires a community and collaborative effort to correct.
Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.
Disagree
Child abuse seems like something else; however, I cannot imagine psychologically, emotionally, I mean, coming from a place inside I don't understand, wanting to be something other than who I am, and not being able to be that. Judith Butler wrote a book years ago, Gender Trouble, about how we force children to be what we expect them to be, and I always found that idea fascinating.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Disagree
I am an old-fashioned, traditional man who loves his wife; however, if someone wants to marry the same-sex, who am I to interfere with that? Again, there is so much to consider. But I cannot impose my values, my culture, my religion, my way of value, on others. I think as long as one is not trying to deliberately harm someone one emotionally or physically, psychologically, a person should be allowed to live their life.
I support the expansion of gambling in my state.
Disagree
While I understand it as entertainment, it is not a harmless vice like he said it the Godfather. The vice of gambling, being addicted to it or irresponsible with it, can destroy families. And I think as a community, we must consider the well-fair of others.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Black-American Muslim, and I respect others' beliefs, as long as they do not deliberately harm human life. I respect the Constitution and the right to practice one's religion with reason, again, without doing deliberate harm to others. I always say one beautiful thing about American, which is informed by the Constitution, is that one has the right to practice their religion. Now what that looks like has to be considered or understand. Now if one's religion says kidnap or take hostages for the purpose of ritual sacrifices, I don't think I can support that.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
I think one must establish themselves before the privilege of voting; however, there must not be any barriers for one to establish themselves, and there should be aid and assistance to do that.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Agree
Other groups have received assistance, and this goes without saying. Why aren't all groups that were historically impacted in a negative way allowed reparations? I believe there is a broader discussion on this topic; however, why shouldn't it be discussed openly, publicly, and politically? Blacks were deliberately put at a disadvantage historically, and it's not that simple to just say: Okay, now let's start equally from here. This would be absurd.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
This is not about transitioning. This is about respecting others, women or young girls specifically, who are biologically that, in their respective spaces and sports.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.
Strongly Agree
I strongly agree that we must explore more the impact of climate change on the world.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
Solar energy.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Moderate
I consider myself a Moderate: I'm conservative in some areas and a liberal in others. It depends on the issue, not the party.
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
Yes, 30 years ago I was convicted of a felony offense for a drug related crime; however, after serving 56 months, I went on to obtain a Ph.D. in an area of education. That's what I call: rehabilitation. The amazing author bell hooks expressed to me when she visited UNLV that some people don't get time until they get time. I understood that. I volunteer in prisons now, High Desert, Southern Desert, and even Florence McClure, and I've met a number of individuals who have changed after 20 years
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?
fairness, equality, and fairness for all, guaranteeing due process, impartial trails, and protection against unreasonable punishment.
Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.
Strongly Agree
Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.
Neutral
This is not an Islamic country, so no; however, I know many have not studied Sharia law to even understand it, not even Muslims. But I do know Sharia law, while it's informed by the Qur'an and Sunnah, it also considers time and place. The U.S. in 2026 is not Medina in 560 Anno Domini. This is why education and literacy, a critical literacy, is so important in my campaign. This is what is missing.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
There must be serious gun laws for public safety; however, gun laws alone are not the solution to the problems with guns. I had a friend who would always say: Guns don't kill people, people kill people.
