QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Agree

Title X grants are helpful for providing low-income reproductive healthcare, but abortion providers are likely to show bias in their counseling and also use funding in a way that supports their mission of promoting abortion.

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

Abortion should be allowed in cases of rape and incest if the mother chooses. Moral reasons to not continue pregnancy exist when conception occurs under deplorable conditions, with effects on both mother and potential child. If a mother's life and health are at reasonable risk, however, procedures to preserve the mother are to be automatically offered as necessary medical care -- not considered elective in any way. Mental health claims should not act as an excuse in typical pregnancy scenarios.

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Agree

A reasonable compromise may be allowing only chemical abortions under medical supervision in very early pregnancy (four to five weeks or less from conception), and protecting human life from that point on.

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Agree

Embryos should be protected from destruction and available to adoptive parents with original parents' consent whenever possible. I know a family whose embryos were destroyed because of a false positive test, and it deeply hurt them. However, at some point embryos may need to be destroyed due to loss of viability or lack of opportunity for implantation, especially if biological parents are no longer reachable. This should be avoided as much as possible

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Agree

This is law, and law enacted for the protection of life must not be flouted.

ECONOMY

What is your position on the minimum wage?

Minimum wage was intended as a limit to prevent exploitation of workers. But with no adjustment for close to two decades, it's woefully outdated. In Utah, most companies are compelled by economic forces to offer higher wages just to have employees.

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

A wonderful feature of the American economy comes from innovation and entrepreneurship. The incentive for inventors and business founders alike is the opportunity to profit while filling needs and niches in the marketplace.

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

Adequate funding of IRS to assist taxpayers in paying their taxes, and to perform sufficient audits to foster compliance Target Medicare and Medicaid fraud Pass timely government budgets Careful and thorough investigation before reducing government workforce, so that efficiency is enhanced while key positions remain staffed

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

The government must not prioritize nor favor any particular religious denomination, nor seek to act against a lawful religious organization to its detriment. It does not mean that religions are ignored or marginalized. Religious organizations are an important part of the fabric of society through the communities they foster, the services they provide, and the higher morals and ideals their teachings develop. In certain circumstances, they can work in partnership with government for great good.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Disagree

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

B

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Disagree

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Agree

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Yes. The United States was a vital participant in the formation of Israel as a homeland for a people surviving genocide after being displaced for millennia. It is important to continue supporting this small country, which continues to have many enemies to its survival.

IMMIGRATION

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Strongly Disagree

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Disagree

As much as states and communities should have great say in the education of their children, there needs to be some cohesiveness and consistency in the education of Americans on the national level.

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Agree

VALUES

Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.

Strongly Agree

Parents raise families and have the greatest interest and incentive to teach their children in the best way they understand.

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Neutral

In some cases, it's abuse. In others, it may be an attempt, however misguided, to assist the child to cope with challenges.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Agree

Marriage has existed for millennia for the stable formation of families and the cohesion of society. Man-made redefinition of it can not be as advantageous, despite the desire of those who wish it to be.

I support the expansion of gambling in my state.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe that God loves His children, no matter where they come from in the world, and that this earth is an opportunity for each of us to choose, to improve and grow, and help each other. We need to see each other as brothers and sisters despite differing views, and work together in respect.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Agree

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

Strongly Agree

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Solar, wind, and tidal
