QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

I believe reasonable people can disagree about abortion, and I respect that these are deeply personal decisions. My concern is taxpayer funding. If public dollars support reproductive healthcare, they should fund the full spectrum of care including infertility treatment, prenatal and maternal care, and preventive services. Those dollars should prioritize bringing healthcare back to NM by expanding and improving access for NM families rather than funding care for people outside our state.

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

I recognize that people of good faith hold deeply different views on this issue. My focus as a policymaker is ensuring that taxpayer dollars are used responsibly, that healthcare resources prioritize New Mexicans, and that women and families have access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare, including prenatal care, maternal health services, infertility treatment, and preventive care. Elective abortion should remain a decision made by the woman in consultation with her healthcare provider.

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Strongly Agree

I believe every human life has inherent value and deserves dignity and legal protection from conception through natural death. Patients should have the right to make informed decisions about their medical care, including refusing or discontinuing treatment and receiving compassionate hospice and palliative care. I support strong safeguards that protect vulnerable individuals while respecting patient autonomy, dignity, and the natural end of life.

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Strongly Agree

I recognize that fertility treatment involves complex medical, ethical, and family decisions. I believe human embryos created through assisted reproductive technologies should be treated with dignity and respect, and whenever possible, every reasonable effort should be made to protect them while respecting the unique circumstances that families and their healthcare providers may face.

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Strongly Agree

Federal laws enacted by Congress should be enforced as written unless they are amended by Congress or found unconstitutional by the courts. If there are questions about how the Comstock Act applies in today's legal and medical landscape, those questions should be resolved through the legislative and judicial processes rather than selective enforcement.

ECONOMY

What is your position on the minimum wage?

I believe every New Mexican deserves the opportunity to earn a living wage. I support higher wages through economic growth, workforce development, and a strong business climate that helps small businesses create jobs and remain competitive.

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

These rights are fundamental to a strong economy. Protecting these freedoms encourages entrepreneurship, creates jobs, supports small businesses, and provides opportunities for New Mexicans to succeed and build generational prosperity.

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

My top priorities are: (1) prioritizing core services like healthcare, education, and public safety while returning savings to taxpayers through responsible budgeting and tax relief, (2) eliminating waste, fraud and duplication, (3) independent audits of government spending, (4) reducing unnecessary bureaucracy and regulations, (5) requiring measurable outcomes for taxpayer-funded programs.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

To me, separation of church and state means the government should neither establish nor interfere with religion while fully protecting every person's constitutional right to freely practice, or not practice, their faith. Government should treat all citizens equally under the law, protect religious liberty and freedom of conscience, and ensure that no one is favored or discriminated against because of their religious beliefs.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

I believe religious liberty and freedom of conscience are fundamental constitutional rights. Individuals and businesses should not be compelled by the government to violate sincerely held religious or moral beliefs when a reasonable accommodation is available. At the same time, everyone should be treated with dignity and have access to lawful goods and services. When conflicts arise, we should seek solutions that protect both constitutional freedoms and equal treatment.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

My views fall between B and C. I support preserving Medicare and Medicaid as essential safety-net programs while maintaining a strong private healthcare system that gives patients choice. I do not support replacing private healthcare with a government-run system, but I believe affordable coverage should be available for those who qualify or need assistance. My priority is strengthening our healthcare workforce, increasing access, improving affordability, and ensuring responsible spending.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Strongly Disagree

I do not support government databases that identify individuals based on their medical conditions. Public health data can be valuable for research, planning, and improving healthcare, but it should be collected in a way that protects patient privacy, limits government overreach, and complies with existing privacy laws. Every patient deserves access to appropriate medical care, and treatment decisions should be based on clinical need, not government cost calculations.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

The United States should take seriously any threats to our national security, economy, and critical infrastructure, regardless of their source. We should protect American innovation, strengthen cybersecurity, reduce reliance on foreign supply chains for critical goods, and ensure our military and economy remain strong while engaging with other nations from a position of strength.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Every relationship the US has with other countries is important because it affects our security, economy, and global stability. Israel is one of our strongest democratic allies and a key partner in intelligence, counterterrorism, defense, and technology. A strong alliance supports American national security, promotes regional stability, and deters hostile actors. I believe U.S. foreign policy should always put America's interests, security, and the well-being of the American people first.

IMMIGRATION

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Strongly Disagree

I do not support sanctuary cities because they undermine consistent enforcement of our immigration laws and can limit cooperation between local, state, and federal law enforcement. I support secure borders, legal immigration, and policies that protect public safety while ensuring every person is treated with dignity, fairness, and due process under the law. I believe in legal immigration and the American dream of a better life for those who come here legally.

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Agree

I support returning primary responsibility for education to states, local communities, parents, teachers, and school districts. The federal government should protect civil rights and ensure accountability, but not dictate curriculum or one-size-fits-all policies. Reducing unnecessary federal bureaucracy puts more resources into classrooms and gives states the flexibility to improve student outcomes.

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Agree

Our schools and universities should be accountable to students, parents, taxpayers, and the American people, not foreign governments. Transparency and accountability are essential to ensure educational decisions are made in the best interests of our nation, our students, and our constitutional values.

VALUES

Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.

Strongly Agree

I believe parents have the fundamental right and primary responsibility to direct their child's health, education, and overall well-being. Parents should be informed, involved, and empowered to make decisions in the best interests of their children. Government should respect and support parental rights while ensuring children are protected from abuse, neglect, and harm under existing law.

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Strongly Agree

I believe children deserve compassionate care that protects their long-term physical and mental well-being. Children are not developmentally capable of fully understanding or consenting to permanent, life-altering medical decisions. I believe interventions that alter or suppress normal hormonal development may carry lasting consequences for a child's physical and mental well-being. These interventions should not be performed on minors until they are adults and able to provide informed consent.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Agree

I believe marriage is a sacred institution established by God and has traditionally been understood as the union of one man and one woman. I respect the constitutional rights of all Americans, while recognizing that people of faith should be free to uphold and live according to their religious beliefs without government interference.

I support the expansion of gambling in my state.

Disagree

While gambling is a legal form of entertainment for many adults, expansion should be approached cautiously, with careful consideration of its impact on families, addiction, crime, and local communities. Our focus should be on creating jobs and growing New Mexico's economy through sustainable industries.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

My Christian faith is the foundation of my life and the lens through which I strive to live, serve, and lead. I believe every person is created in the image of God and deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. My faith teaches me the importance of loving my neighbor, serving others with humility, living with integrity, extending grace and forgiveness, and being a faithful steward of the gifts and responsibilities God has entrusted to me. I believe strong families, personal responsibility, honesty, and service to others strengthen our communities. While I know no one is perfect, I strive each day to live according to biblical principles and honor God in both my personal and public life.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I believe every eligible citizen should have the opportunity to vote, and protecting the integrity of our elections is essential to maintaining public confidence. I support requiring photo identification to vote while ensuring IDs are accessible and affordable. Photo ID is already required for many everyday activities, such as driving, flying, and banking. Voting is one of our most important civic responsibilities and should meet a similar standard.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Disagree

I do not support reparations based solely on race. We should address poverty, expand opportunity, and remove barriers to success based on need rather than race. I believe policies should treat every American equally under the law while investing in education, economic opportunity, and strong communities that benefit all citizens.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

As a woman, a mother, and a healthcare provider, I believe women and girls deserve fair competition and spaces where they can expect privacy and safety. Because biological differences can provide physical advantages in many sports, I believe women's athletics and female-only spaces should be protected based on biological sex. Every girl deserves the chance to compete on a level playing field, reach her full potential, and pursue her dreams without losing opportunities unfairly.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

Disagree

I believe we should be good stewards of our environment and support practical, science-informed conservation. I do not support policies that impose unnecessary economic burdens on American families or businesses. I favor innovation, responsible energy development, and market-driven solutions that protect our environment while ensuring affordable, reliable energy and a strong economy.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Oil and natural gas remain the most reliable, affordable energy sources to meet growing electricity demand. New Mexico's energy industry powers our economy, creates jobs, strengthens energy independence, and provides dependable power to NM.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

I consider myself a principled, common-sense conservative. I believe in limited government, individual liberty, fiscal responsibility, strong families, safe communities, and protecting our constitutional freedoms. I support practical, solutions-focused policies that strengthen our economy, improve education, expand access to healthcare, uphold the Constitution, and preserve opportunity while working with others to solve problems.

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?

The goal of the criminal justice system is to protect the public, uphold the rule of law, ensure accountability, and safeguard constitutional rights. It should deliver fair, timely justice for victims and the accused, impose appropriate consequences, reduce repeat offenses through rehabilitation when appropriate, and maintain public confidence through equal application of the law.

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Strongly Agree

Government should aggressively investigate and prosecute child predators, strengthen penalties for online sexual exploitation, require platforms to report child sexual abuse material, support law enforcement in identifying offenders, and provide resources to protect children and assist victims while respecting constitutional rights.

Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.

Strongly Agree

The United States should be governed by the U.S. Constitution and laws enacted through our constitutional system. No foreign or religious legal code, including Sharia law, should supersede or replace American law. Every American has the constitutional right to freely practice their religion, but everyone is equally subject to the same laws and constitutional protections.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I strongly support the Second Amendment and the rights of law-abiding citizens to own firearms. Public safety is best protected by enforcing existing laws, keeping guns away from violent criminals, strengthening background checks, addressing illegal trafficking, and improving access to mental health care. Any restrictions should respect due process and target dangerous behavior rather than burden responsible gun owners.
