QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Strongly Agree

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Agree

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

Exceptions for the life of the mother that reflect a genuine medical emergency — not an elective procedure.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Agree

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Free enterprise and private property are foundational to my FAMILY FIR$T platform — creating jobs, building wealth and giving families economic freedom to move ahead. There is a disturbing trend - Maryland families are leaving the state. Youth unemployment and low school scores are deep concerns that will affect even those who don't feel it yet. Free enterprise grows economies and solves these very problems. Maryland must be weaned off excessive federal government dependency.

People who can afford to pay more taxes should do so in order to provide relief for working families.

Disagree

Relief for working families is more sustainable from job creation, reduced regulatory burdens and expanded tax credits. Redistribution - growing those government rolls - risks dependency trapping families in cycles that then change with every policy change. People who can afford to pay higher taxes have the resources to shelter income or relocate - the additional revenue rarely materializes. Growing the economy lifts all boats and is more sustainable.

The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.

Strongly Agree

100%. Government should lift the debt burden from the shoulders of the younger generation. Continuing resolutions have become the norm; shutdowns no longer look like crisis management. Government reopens and the debt problem remains intact. Meaningful cuts start with eliminating fraud which both sides agree with.

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

1. Comprehensive audit of federal agencies to identify redundancy and programs that have outlived their mandate or overstepping 2. Fraud elimination in entitlement programs - every dollar lost is stolen from someone who genuinely needs it 3. Reduce federal regulatory burden on businesses 4. Zero-based budgeting — every agency justifies its entire budget from zero each cycle 5. Congress should eliminate the continuing resolution method of funding government

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

It is unfair for anyone to be forced to choose between their faith and their livelihood. The former guides the latter for individuals. Today I attended the final hearing of President's Religious Liberty Commission, a first of it's kind Commission, and heard firsthand from witnesses whose consciences were crushed. If you lose your religious liberty, being the bedrock of the nation, then all your rights will soon follow.

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

It means government cannot establish or mandate a state religion. Faith has always been the moral backbone of this nation and people of faith are free to live, work and serve according to their beliefs without state interference or fear of penalty.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Strongly Disagree

Medical privacy is a fundamental right. Assessing the economic burden of treatment is not a sufficient reason to surveille Americans when personal health information can be weaponized in today's IT environment.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Yes. Working and living in Egypt and traveling to work in the region I understand the complexity of the Middle East firsthand. In that complexity America needs a reliable partner — and Israel has served that role. However, the importance of the relationship is increasingly being questioned by American taxpayers because of the unsustainable cost of a recurring conflict.

Islamic terrorism is a threat to the United States' national security.

Strongly Agree

The threat of the fringe radical ideology that characterizes Islamic terrorism - not to be confused with the faith - is a national security threat.

IMMIGRATION

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

The Immigration and Nationality Act specifies who should be allowed: immigrants who come legally by following established processes.

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Strongly Disagree

Sanctuary cities undermine federal immigration law and the rule of law itself - endangering two sets of people: the officers charged with enforcing the law and the undocumented immigrants living in false hope; left vulnerable. As someone who spent years adjudicating who legally enters America, sanctuary cities contradict the very legal framework that training is based on - the person living in false hope would have been presumed to be an immigrant and denied a visa to enter legally.

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Agree

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Strongly Agree

Foreign government funding of American education is a national security threat like the Chinese Confucius Institutes embedded in American universities; there is a thin line between cultural exchange and suspected espionage.

VALUES

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Strongly Agree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Agree

Marriage as a sacred union between one man and one woman is a foundation of faith and family.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian whose faith guides every aspect of my life — my background, my family, my work and my public service. I attended faith-based schools and chose the same for my children. My 18 years feeding children in rural Africa through my nonprofit and my work with the Geneva Consensus Declaration protecting life and women's health across 40 nations are expressions of my faith in action. I believe in the dignity of every human life from conception to natural death and in the freedom of every American to live according to their God-given conscience — free from fear or intimidation.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

EQUALITY

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

A diversified energy portfolio is essential — nuclear power is the most reliable, scalable and clean baseline energy source for meeting growing demand. Combined with responsible natural gas production.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Strongly Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The Second Amendment is a fundamental constitutional right that must be protected. The Second Amendment is a fundamental constitutional right that must be protected. Responsible gun ownership includes background checks to keep firearms from convicted criminals and the severely mentally ill. Beyond that government must not infringe on the right of law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms.
