I believe human life has inherent dignity and value. At the same time, as a school board member my role is not to set medical law, but to ensure that every student is supported, respected, and able to continue their education regardless of the challenges they face.

Schools should respond with compassion and practical support so the student can continue her education. District staff should connect students with counseling, community resources, and family support while maintaining a safe and respectful environment that protects the well-being and future of both the student and her child.

Separation of church and state means that government should not establish or promote a specific religion, but it also must not restrict the free expression of faith. Public schools should remain neutral institutions while protecting the rights of students and families to live out their beliefs. At the same time, schools can teach character, responsibility, and respect—values that are widely shared across faith traditions and strengthen our community.

Strong public education is essential to thriving communities and a strong economy. Public schools should be responsibly funded so districts can provide excellent academic programs, career and technical education, and extracurricular opportunities. At the same time, taxpayers deserve transparency and disciplined stewardship to ensure resources are used effectively for students.

I believe enforcing federal immigration law contributes to public safety and national sovereignty. At the same time, immigration policy is a federal responsibility. As a school board member, my focus would be on ensuring that every student in our district is treated with dignity and has access to a safe learning environment, regardless of background.

If sex education is offered, it should be age-appropriate, medically accurate, and transparent to parents. Instruction should include human anatomy, reproductive health, consent, abstinence as the safest choice, and factual information about contraception and pregnancy. Parents should have full access to curriculum materials and the ability to opt their child in or out consistent with state law.

In addition, schools play an important role in developing character traits such as responsibility, integrity, and respect—qualities that support civic engagement and self-government. Rigorous co- and extracurricular activities further reinforce leadership, collaboration, and discipline in meaningful, real-world settings.

This issue does not fall within the responsibilities of a local school board and is therefore best addressed through the legal system.

Local decision making is critical in this arena. Parental review boards should certainly hold sway, but content experts and school curriculum can also come into play. A rigorous opt-in / opt-out policy should be maintained for any material that could violate limits established by particular parents.
