QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Neutral
Life begins at conception but I believe in a woman's right to choose. This is a decision that should be made by a patient and their doctor. Instead I think we need to focus on education and women's health in order to prevent abortion.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Disagree
Planned Parenthood offers many services that pertain to women's health. These services are crucial and need to be funded.
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Choose not to answer
I support appropriate medical care for any infant born alive. However I would want to evaluate the specific legislation, its medical implications, and existing law before committing to a particular proposal. I would also want to hear from doctors for their opinion on the matter.
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I believe abortion is a deeply personal medical decision that should primarily be made by a woman in consultation with her doctor, not politicians. I support access to abortion, particularly in cases of rape, incest, threats to the life or health of the mother, and serious fetal conditions. I support this while supporting policies that reduce unintended pregnancies and provide meaningful resources for mothers and families.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Agree
It is the governments responsibility to set the conditions for people who work hard to be able to afford the basics (housing, food, healthcare, utilities, and transportation). While it is not the governments job to guarantee wealth I do believe it should address the barriers that make it more difficult for working families to get ahead.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Agree
Free enterprise and private economy are essential to provide individuals, families, and small businesses the chance to succeed. Government should protect those rights while ensuring fair competition and preventing abuse.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Neutral
Public education should provide every student with a strong foundation, regardless of their income. College and career training should be affordable and accessible, but I do not believe taxpayers should be required to fully fund a four year college education.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
I would reduce unnecessary administrative spending, duplicative programs, and ineffective incentives. Government should prioritize programs that are positive to tax payers. for example education, public safety, funding prosecutors and infrastructure.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Disagree
I believe in religious freedom including the right of faith communities to define marriage according to their beliefs. However marriage should remain equally available to consenting adults under the law.
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Agree
Religious liberty is a fundamental constitutional right and deserves protection. That protection should apply equally to people of every faith and to those who choose not to practice in any religion.
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
Yes, Christians have the right to freely practice and share their faith, just as Americans of any faith have the right to practice and express their beliefs.
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Separation of church and state means government should neither establish nor prohibit religion. People should be free to practice their faith and allow it to inform their values, while government represents and protects people of all faiths.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Agree
Everyone should have access to affordable healthcare coverage. Government should help remove barriers and lower costs while preserving patient choice and encouraging competition.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I would focus on lowering healthcare and prescription costs, expanding access in underserved communities, strengthening mental health services, and increasing transparency.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Agree
A strong military is essential to deterring threats and protecting our country. Lasting peace also requires effective diplomacy, strong alliances, and responsible leadership.
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Neutral
Border security is important, but there is no one size fits all solution. We should use physical barriers where they make sense. We should also work towards fixing the issues in our immigration system.
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Disagree
Immigration laws should be enforced, but withholding all public funds can harm residents and essential services that have nothing to do with immigration enforcement.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
The United States should welcome people who follow our immigration process. These people could be workers, families, students, and people seeking refuge. I do not believe that your country of origin, sex, or race should have anything to do with coming to the United States.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.
Choose not to answer
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Agree
No one should face unfair discrimination because of who they are.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
My faith in Christianity teaches me to treat others with compassion, dignity, and respect. It teaches me to serve my community and to stand up for people who need a voice.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
Voting should be secure and accessible. I support reasonable identification requirements while ensuring every citizen can vote without unnecessary cost or barriers. I think we need to fix our voter education in order to remind people to bring their state ID with them.
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
I support maintaining the Electoral College while ensuring every eligible voter has a meaningful opportunity to participate. Our system should continue to balance the voices of both highly populated states and less populated states.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Yes. Racism can contribute to division, extremism, hate crimes, and violence. This makes it a legitimate concern for domestic security. We should confront these threats while protecting constitutional rights and ensuring every American is treated equally under the law.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Somewhat Conservative
I believe in fiscal responsibility, public safety, individual liberty, and limited government. At the same time, I believe good government requires practical solutions, compassion, and a willingness to work across party lines.
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
My positions are available on my campaign website and social media accounts.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
My education in political science and sociology has given me a strong foundation in government, public policy, research, and the communities the government serves.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am running not only for myself but also survivors of sexual assault. I know it will be an uphill battle to create change in a system that failed me but I will fight to do what is right.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
American law and judicial decisions should be grounded in the United States Constitution and our federal and state laws, not any religious legal system. This applies to all religions equally.
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
No
Teachers should be able to focus on educating students. School security should primarily be the responsibility of properly trained law enforcement or security personnel, while schools invest in prevention, mental health resources, and emergency preparedness.
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I support the Second Amendment while also supporting measures that keep firearms out of the hands of violent offenders and others who are legally prohibited from possessing them. Gun policy should focus on enforcing existing laws, due process, responsible ownership, and improving public safety.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Neutral
I am open to looking into legalization, but any changes to the law should carefully address public safety, impaired driving, youth access, regulation, and the experiences of other states. Otherwise I would be open to legalization.
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1. Sexual violence prevention and survivor support: Strengthen prevention education, improve reporting processes, expand survivor services, and ensure victims can access meaningful support and justice. 2. Affordability: Address rising housing, utility, healthcare, and everyday costs while protecting taxpayers. 3. Education and Mental Health: Strengthen our public schools, support our teachers, and expand access to mental health services to Hoosiers.
