QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Strongly Agree

I believe every person has inherent value and dignity. As a board member, my job would be to focus on our schools and serve students and their families. My priority is academic success and student well-being, while the bigger political or policy debates are handled at the state and federal level.

What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?

Personally, I believe any student facing a crisis pregnancy deserves compassion. As a board member, my role would be to follow the law, respect parents, and make sure students have the support they need to stay in school and graduate. Bigger decisions beyond that are handled outside the board’s responsibilities.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

With regard to public schools, what does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

I believe schools shouldn’t push any religion on students, and students shouldn’t be stopped from expressing their faith either. If a student wants to pray privately or start a religious club, they should have the same rights as any other student group. As a board member, my job would be to protect that freedom while making sure everything stays voluntary so all families feel welcome in our schools.

ECONOMY

Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.

Neutral

Personally, I believe that if you sign a loan, you have a responsibility to pay it back. But let’s be honest, skyrocketing tuition and federal loan policies are a national mess that leaves too many students in over their heads. As a board member, that’s out of my hands. My job would be to make sure our kids graduate ready for whatever is next, whether that’s college, CTE, or entering the workforce. I’ll remain laser-focused on that goal.

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

Personally, I think if you sign a loan, you’re responsible for paying it back. But college costs and federal loan rules are a national issue, and not something a school board controls. My job would be to make sure our kids graduate ready for whatever comes next, whether that’s college, CTE, or going straight into the workforce. That’s where I’ll keep my focus.

IMMIGRATION

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) enhances the safety and security of communities by identifying and detaining illegal aliens.

Neutral

I know immigration and ICE are federal issues, not something a school board handles. As a future board member, my focus would be on our district, keeping trust with families and making sure classrooms stay safe and steady so every child can focus on learning. That’s what families count on from their local board, and that’s where I’d put my energy.

EDUCATION

Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Strongly Disagree

I believe schools should stay focused on academics. Bringing in outside providers for controversial services is an unnecessary distraction. If elected, my role would be to ensure our curriculum sticks to the basics and respects the primary role of parents. These sensitive topics belong with families and private providers, not as part of the school day.

Consequences for bad behavior create a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.

Strongly Agree

I believe every student deserves a classroom where they can actually learn. While we need supports for kids with unique needs, chronic disruptions can't be the norm. If elected, I’ll back our teachers and push for sensible discipline that keeps classrooms orderly. We owe it to every student to make sure their shot at success isn't sidelined by bad behavior. My goal is a safe, focused environment where everyone can get ahead.

Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.

Agree

I believe in teaching the whole story—the good, the bad, and the ugly. We should be honest about our journey and the progress we’ve made. If elected, my role is to ensure our policies meet state standards for a balanced curriculum. I’ll leave the daily teaching to our great educators, but I’ll make sure students get a fair look at our history so they can form their own views on our country.

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Neutral

If elected, my priority would be making sure every student keeps getting the services they’re entitled to. I support local control, but I’m staying neutral because sudden changes can really disrupt students, especially those with special needs. The federal government sets the big picture, and here at home we need stability and resources so our schools can support families without interruption.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- abortion methods and side effects; abstinence; consent; contraceptive methods; human anatomy/the reproductive system; physical and emotional health outcomes; sex acts and pleasures of sex; sexual orientation and gender identity; stages of pregnancy and fetal development

Sex education should be age-appropriate, medically accurate, and help students make healthy choices. These topics are sensitive, and parents should have the final say, including the option to opt out. As a board member, I’d make sure the district follows state standards and is fully transparent, so parents always know what’s being taught.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning

1. Reading 2. Writing 3. Math 4. American History (Social Studies) 5. Science 6. Physical Fitness 7. Art & Music 8. Civics 9. Information Technology 10. Vocational Learning 11. Personal Finances 12. Foreign Language I believe in getting the basics right. Reading is my priority because if a child can’t read well by 4th grade, they’re behind. I’ve omitted subjects that are better left for families to talk about at home so our schools can stay focused on the academics every student deserves.

Public schools should prioritize academic achievement and building character necessary to preserve American traditions and self-government.

Agree

I believe schools should focus on strong academics and the kind of character that helps kids grow into good citizens. If elected, my job would be to make sure our curriculum meets state standards and stays focused on the basics. I want students to be well-prepared, responsible members of our community who understand and appreciate our American heritage.

School choice creates competition, and that competition will push public schools to improve their educational systems.

Neutral

I believe the Hope Scholarship is here to stay, and families should choose what works best for their kids. I don’t think we need to fear choice. We can use it as motivation to keep improving our schools for our students and our community. If elected, my priority would be strengthening our schools, keeping great teachers, and focusing on strong academics so our public schools become the top choice for families in our community.

2ND AMENDMENT

Faculty who are licensed to carry and have had ongoing training should be allowed to carry guns at school in order to respond to an active shooter situation.

Neutral

I support the Second Amendment, and I’m grateful that our schools already have trained SROs on campus. I also want our schools to stay safe and welcoming for every student and family. Because of that, I believe any decisions about who can carry in schools should be handled with great care and always put student safety first

Choose not to answer

What political party are you affiliated with?

Nonpartisan role

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to immigration and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Lean Conservative

I value personal responsibility, strong families, and local decision making. I also look at issues one at a time, which helps me stay thoughtful and balanced rather than strictly partisan.

VALUES

Biological males should be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Disagree

I believe sports and private spaces like locker rooms should stay separated by biological sex for fairness and safety. If elected, my job is to follow the law and make sure our schools are secure for every student. I support common-sense solutions that protect everyone’s privacy. My focus will stay on our classrooms, so these issues don't distract us from giving our kids a great education.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I’m a Christian, and my faith teaches me to treat every person with dignity and respect. Those are the values I try to live by. At the same time, I know public schools are for everyone. If elected, my role would be to help ensure our schools stay welcoming places where every student and family is respected, no matter their background or beliefs.

Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.

Strongly Agree

I believe parents should have the final say in their child’s upbringing, health, and education. If elected, I’ll work to make sure our policies respect that and treat parents as true partners. I’m committed to transparency, so families know what’s happening in the classroom, and I want our schools focused on the basics every student deserves.

I support the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., that people should be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin.

Agree

I agree with Dr. King that people should be judged by their character, not their skin color. That’s a personal conviction I carry with me. If elected, my job would be to help make sure our schools are fair for every student. I’ll focus on policies that treat everyone with respect and keep classrooms centered on the basics, so every kid has a fair shot to succeed through their own hard work.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Agree

As a Christian, I believe marriage is a sacred union between one man and one woman. I also fully respect that others may hold different views. This isn’t an issue that comes before the school board, but it’s part of my personal faith and values, and I want to share that honestly

Mental health conditions such as anorexia and gender dysphoria need to be treated, not affirmed.

Neutral

People facing mental health challenges deserve real care and support. Our schools also need to stay focused on academics and make sure every student can read, write, and do math at the level they need to succeed. My aim is to support families while keeping classrooms focused on the core learning that helps students thrive.

School library books that have literary value, as determined by experts, should be exempt from obscenity laws.

Neutral

I’m not a fan of banning books, and I’ve seen even classics and the Bible questioned over the years. That’s why I believe our school libraries should be age appropriate, and that anything clearly meant for older readers should involve parents. Books that truly teach something or have real literary value should get a fair look so students can learn from the best.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Neutral

This is a federal issue that doesn’t involve the school board. My job, if elected, would be to focus on our local schools and the things that directly affect students and families here at home.
