RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
I strongly believe that human life begins at conception and that every human life has inherent value and dignity. I am pro-life and believe our laws should protect innocent human life from conception through natural death. I also believe we should support mothers, children, families, individuals with disabilities, and the elderly with compassion and respect for the dignity of every person.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Agree
I agree. I do not believe taxpayer dollars should be used to fund organizations for the provision of abortion services. Public funds should instead support healthcare and community services that protect life and provide meaningful care and resources for women, children, and families.
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
I strongly support requiring appropriate medical care for any infant born alive following an attempted abortion. Once a child is born alive, that child deserves the same dignity, protection, and appropriate medical treatment as any other newborn. Protecting innocent human life should be a fundamental responsibility of our laws and healthcare system.
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Never
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
It is the government's responsibility to enable the people to earn their livable income.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
I believe a more limited government helps preserve a free society.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
I would search for waste, fraud and abuse within government spending before asking more of taxpayers. Reducing government and make them work for the people is a main priority of mine.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Neutral
I recognize the current legal status of marriage in the United States and believe government must respect the constitutional rights of all citizens. My priority is protecting religious liberty so that individuals, churches, and organizations are not compelled by government to abandon sincerely held beliefs about marriage. I believe we can respect differences while treating every person with dignity and protecting the freedoms of all.
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is a fundamental right protected by the First Amendment and is essential to a free society. Individuals should be free to practice their faith, live according to their sincerely held religious beliefs, and participate fully in public life without fear of government punishment or discrimination. As a Christian, my faith guides my own life and values, but I also believe religious liberty must protect people of all faiths, as well as those who choose not to practice a religion.
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
As a Christian, I believe the Bible calls us to share our faith with others and to live according to Biblical principles. I will support and defend the constitutional freedom of Christians to practice and peacefully share their faith without government interference or discrimination. I also believe that protecting religious liberty means respecting the right of every American to freely exercise his or her faith and beliefs.
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Separation of church and state means the government should neither establish nor control religion, while also protecting every individual’s right to freely practice and express their faith. It does not mean that people of faith must separate their beliefs from their participation in government or public life. Government should protect religious liberty while respecting the constitutional rights of all citizens.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
I believe we are a free society where individuals should have the freedom and responsibility to provide for their own needs, including health insurance. Government’s role should be to encourage competition, transparency, and affordable healthcare options rather than require or provide insurance for everyone. We should also maintain an appropriate safety net for those who truly cannot provide for themselves.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I would promote adequate, affordable, and accessible healthcare by increasing competition and giving individuals and small businesses more choices. We should reduce unnecessary regulations, encourage transparency in healthcare pricing, expand flexible insurance options, and strengthen access to providers, especially in rural communities. Government should create an environment where healthcare and insurance are more affordable and accessible while preserving individual choice and personal responsibility.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
I strongly support maintaining a strong and well-prepared U.S. military. A strong national defense helps deter aggression, protect our freedoms and national interests, and maintain America’s strength and stability on the world stage. Peace is best preserved when our nation is prepared and capable of defending itself.
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
The United States has a responsibility to secure and protect its borders. I support a combination of physical barriers and other necessary infrastructure and technology to maintain control of our borders and ensure that those entering our country do so legally. A secure border is essential to our national security, public safety, and the integrity of our legal immigration system.
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Agree
I believe our immigration laws should be followed and that government entities receiving taxpayer dollars should be expected to comply with the law. At the same time, enforcement should be fair, responsible, and humane. I would want to carefully review any proposal to withhold state or federal funding to understand its consequences for public safety, essential services, and law-abiding citizens before supporting it.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
I support legal immigration for individuals who follow our laws, complete the proper immigration process, and want to contribute positively to our country. Those with serious criminal backgrounds should be appropriately screened and generally should not be permitted to bring those criminal activities into the United States. Our immigration system should welcome law-abiding people while protecting the safety and security of American citizens.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
Limited government works best when people have a strong moral foundation, take responsibility for their actions, and respect the rights and freedoms of others. Judeo-Christian principles have played an important role in developing those values in American society.
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Neutral
I believe every person should be treated with dignity and respect and should be protected from unjust discrimination. However, I would need to carefully review any proposal adding protected classes to ensure it also preserves religious liberty, freedom of speech, and other constitutional rights.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian, and my faith is an important part of who I am. I believe God guides me and influences the way I live each day. My Christian faith and morals shape how I treat others, the decisions I make, and the values I try to live by. I strive to lead with honesty, compassion, integrity, personal responsibility, and respect for others, while seeking God’s guidance in my daily life.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Absolutely not. As a County Clerk with firsthand experience administering elections, I strongly believe photo identification should be required to vote. Requiring identification is a reasonable safeguard that helps protect the integrity and security of our elections, provides transparency in the voting process, and strengthens public confidence that our elections are fair and secure.
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
No. I support maintaining the Electoral College as established in our Constitution. It preserves the role of the states in presidential elections and helps ensure that voters and communities across the country, including smaller and more rural states, have a voice in choosing our President.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
I do not believe racism, broadly defined, is one of the greatest threats to our domestic security. Racism and discrimination are wrong and should never be tolerated, and every American deserves equal protection under the law. When hatred or racial extremism leads to violence, threats, or criminal activity, law enforcement should address it seriously regardless of who commits it or who is targeted.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
I consider myself very conservative, with a strong belief in limited government, fiscal responsibility, individual liberty, personal responsibility, strong national defense, secure borders, and traditional values.
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
My publicly stated positions, record of public service, campaign materials, and results in the Republican primary demonstrate my conservative values and support my description of myself as very conservative. Throughout my campaign for Indiana State Representative, District 63, I have consistently emphasized faith, family, individual liberty, personal responsibility, limited and accountable government, fiscal responsibility, election integrity, support for small businesses and agriculture, strong communities, secure borders, public safety, and the traditional values that have helped make Southern Indiana a great place to live, work, raise a family, and operate a business. My Christian faith is an important part of who I am and influences the way I approach my life and public service. I believe in the importance of strong families, the sanctity of life, religious liberty, and protecting our constitutional freedoms. I support the Second Amendment and the right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms. I believe government should protect individual rights rather than unnecessarily interfere in the lives of its citizens. My conservative philosophy also includes a strong belief in limited government. Government has important responsibilities, but it should not attempt to be everything to everyone. Individuals, families, businesses, churches, charitable organizations, and local communities all have important roles in a healthy society. I believe in personal responsibility and that government should create an environment where people have the freedom and opportunity to work, provide for their families, build businesses, and succeed. Fiscal responsibility is another important part of my conservative philosophy. As an elected county official, I understand that government is spending taxpayers' money, not its own. Government at every level should continually evaluate spending, eliminate waste and unnecessary duplication, and concentrate taxpayer resources on the essential responsibilities of government. Before asking taxpayers for additional money, government should first demonstrate that it is using the resources it already receives responsibly. As a second-generation small-business family, I also understand the impact government decisions can have on businesses and working families. Taxes, regulations, healthcare costs, property taxes, energy costs, and the overall cost of living directly affect whether families and businesses can prosper. I support policies that encourage economic opportunity, reduce unnecessary government burdens, and allow small businesses and entrepreneurs to grow and create jobs. Election integrity has been an especially important part of my public service. My experience administering elections as Dubois County Clerk has strengthened my belief that elections must be secure, accurate, transparent, and worthy of the public's confidence. I support voter identification and appropriate safeguards throughout the election process. My experience with election administration, recounts, audits, voting equipment, poll workers, and election security gives me a practical perspective on this issue rather than simply a political one. I also believe America must remain strong and secure. I support a strong military, secure borders, enforcement of our immigration laws, and legal immigration. We are a nation of laws, and maintaining those laws is fundamental to protecting both our citizens and the opportunities America provides. My approach to state government is grounded in the same conservative principles. I believe decisions should be made as close to the people as reasonably possible, and I support local control when appropriate. State government should respect taxpayers, property owners, families, businesses, and local communities. I believe affordability must remain a priority, including addressing taxes and the everyday costs affecting Hoosier families. My conservative beliefs are also reflected in how I approach public service. I believe elected officials should be accessible, transparent, responsive, and accountable to the people they represent. Conservative government should not simply mean spending less; it should mean governing responsibly, respecting individual freedom, protecting constitutional rights, and remembering that government exists to serve the people—not the other way around. These are not positions are consistent with my record in public service, my professional and small-business background, my Christian faith, and the values I have publicly discussed throughout my campaign. In the May 2026 Republican Primary, I received 77.4% of the vote. My campaign website, public statements, interviews, candidate questionnaires, and other publicly available materials provide additional documentation of my conservative positions and record. www.amyforindiana.com https://duboiscountyfreepress.com/qa-with-republican-candidates-seeking-nomination-for-district-63-state-representative/
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
My well-rounded background in public service, private-sector employment, small business, elections administration, community involvement, and leadership has prepared me to successfully represent District 63 in the Indiana General Assembly. I believe some of the best preparation for public office comes from working alongside the people you are asking to represent and understanding firsthand how decisions made by government affect families, businesses, and communities. I have spent nine years working in the Dubois County Clerk’s Office, including seven and a half years serving as the elected County Clerk. In that role, I have been responsible for administering elections, working with the courts, managing an office and staff, overseeing budgets, interpreting and implementing Indiana law, and serving the public every day. This experience has given me a unique understanding of the relationship between state government and local government. I have seen firsthand how legislation passed at the Statehouse ultimately affects local officials, taxpayers, employees, and citizens. Administering elections has also taught me the importance of accuracy, transparency, accountability, and public trust. I have overseen election processes involving early voting, Election Day, absentee voting, poll workers, voting equipment, public testing, and election security. Our county has participated in a post-election audit, and I have also been through a district recount; both yielding outstanding results. These experiences strengthened my belief that government must operate in a way that earns the confidence of the people it serves. My experience extends well beyond government. I have worked in the private sector and understand the expectations of showing up, working hard, meeting deadlines, solving problems, and being accountable for results. I also understand the realities faced by small-business owners and working families. My family has firsthand experience with self-employment, agriculture, and running a small business, where every expense matters and government regulations, taxes, healthcare costs, and economic conditions have real consequences. I have also remained actively involved in my community. Whether through local organizations, schools, athletics, community events, Republican Party leadership, or simply talking with residents throughout Southern Indiana, I have had the opportunity to work with people from many different backgrounds and perspectives. Those experiences have reinforced something I strongly believe: good representation starts with listening. I do not believe an elected official has to be the expert on every issue before walking into the Statehouse. A good legislator needs to know how to ask the right questions, seek reliable information, listen to the people directly affected by an issue, understand the consequences of legislation, and then have the courage to make a decision. I have demonstrated those skills throughout my professional and public-service career. I bring common sense, conservative values, a strong work ethic, and a genuine desire to serve. I understand budgets and the importance of being responsible with taxpayer dollars. I understand that laws written in Indianapolis have real-world consequences in places like Dubois, Daviess, Martin, and Pike counties. Most importantly, I understand that an elected office belongs to the people—not the person temporarily holding it. If elected, I will approach the Statehouse the same way I have approached public service throughout my career: with respect, transparency, accessibility, accountability, and a willingness to work. I will listen to constituents, communicate openly, work with local leaders and subject-matter experts, and make decisions based on facts and the best interests of the people of District 63. My experiences have not come from one career path or one area of government. They come from being an elected official, an employee, a small-business family, a community volunteer, a leader, and a resident of Southern Indiana. That combination has given me a broad perspective on the challenges facing our communities and has prepared me to take the values, work ethic, and common sense of Southern Indiana to the Statehouse and be a strong, accessible voice for the people of District 63.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No. I have never been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I want voters to know that my decision to run for State Representative comes from a genuine desire to serve the people and communities of Southern Indiana. Public service has taught me that good government begins with listening. I will not always have every answer, and we may not always agree, but I will always be willing to listen, ask questions, do my homework, and explain where I stand. I believe the people of District 63 deserve a representative who is accessible, responsive, transparent, and willing to work hard on their behalf. I am a Christian, a wife, a mother, a small-business family member, a community volunteer, and an elected public servant. Those experiences have shaped my conservative values and my belief in faith, family, personal responsibility, hard work, limited government, fiscal responsibility, and individual freedom. They have also taught me that decisions made by government have real consequences for families, farmers, businesses, schools, local governments, and communities. I am proud to be a conservative Republican, but I also understand that if elected, I will represent every person in District 63. My responsibility will be to listen to the people I serve, protect our freedoms, be responsible with taxpayer dollars, and make decisions that strengthen our communities and preserve the Southern Indiana way of life we value. I believe government should work for the people—not the other way around. I will take the common sense, work ethic, conservative values, and strong sense of community that define Southern Indiana with me to the Statehouse. Most importantly, I will remember who sent me there. I will remain accessible and accountable to the people of District 63, and I will work every day to earn and keep their trust. It would be an honor to serve as their voice in the Indiana House of Representatives.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
No. The US should be governed by the US Constitution and laws enacted through our constitutional system, not by the religious law of any particular faith. I strongly support religious liberty and believe every American has the right to freely practice his or her faith, including Muslims, Christians, Jews, and people of other faiths or no faith at all. However, religious freedom is different from using a religious legal system as the basis for government legislation or judicial decisions.
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
This is not an issue I take lightly. I believe properly trained and qualified teachers or school employees who are legally permitted to carry a firearm and are comfortable assuming that responsibility should have the option to do so, subject to appropriate school safety policies and training requirements. I want our schools to have the ability to protect students and staff. Any policy should prioritize safety, extensive training, secure firearm handling, and coordination with law enforcement.
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I support the Second Amendment and the rights of law-abiding citizens to own firearms. I believe our focus should be on enforcing existing gun laws and holding individuals who use firearms to commit crimes accountable rather than placing additional restrictions on responsible gun owners. Any gun policy should respect constitutional rights while addressing legitimate public-safety concerns.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Neutral
I am currently undecided on the legalization of recreational marijuana. I believe this issue requires careful consideration of public safety, law enforcement, impaired driving, workplace concerns, potential health impacts, and the experiences of other states that have legalized it. I would want to thoroughly review the evidence and hear from law enforcement, healthcare professionals, employers, and the communities I represent before supporting a significant change to Indiana law.
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1. Election Integrity and Administration I would use my firsthand experience administering elections to strengthen Indiana's election laws and improve the election process. One area I would like to address is establishing consistent mandatory training standards for poll workers. 2. Property Tax Reform I want to continue working toward meaningful property tax reform, with the long-term goal of eliminating or significantly reducing Indiana's reliance on property taxes. Any major reform must be done responsibly, recognizing the services currently supported by property taxes. 3. Affordability and Efficient Government Affordability will be a major focus for me at the Statehouse. This includes examining utility costs and the policies and regulations that contribute to increasing monthly expenses for Hoosier families and businesses. I also want to address unnecessary government delays and administrative burdens.
