QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Agree
The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.
Agree
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
Health of mother. Rape. In accordance with federal and state laws.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Disagree
Such organizations should be supported if their focus is women's health during pregnancy and health check-ups.
The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.
Agree
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
Believe that F. Hayek, T. Sowell, and M. Friedman, and A. Smith should be taught in school.
People who can afford to pay more taxes should do so in order to provide relief for working families.
Disagree
Believe that a flat income tax, as previously advocated for by Steve Forbes, would ensure that all taxpayers would participate; it would simplify the insanely burdensome tax code and disempower lobbyists. Entitlements, at their worst, disincentivize individuals and cause unintended consequences, such as the widespread dissolution of nuclear families.
The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.
Agree
Per Economist Sean Flynn, the U.S. should take a very hard look at the most successful health care system in the world -- namely Singapore's. Implementing such a system has the potential to save billions. Also, the US military procurement system should be revamped and reformed for speed and cost efficiencies.
List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.
1. Adopt the Singaporean health care system. 2. Implement permanent Department of Government Efficiency oversight, 3. Reform U.S. military procurement process.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Jefferson was against forced religious conformity, versus the state church in England. Article VI stands against religious tests with respect to serving in public office. Individual states were not excluded from providing support to religious institutions. Religion can be seen as being protected from government. Our country has been historically rooted in Judeo-Christian faith and its values. Prayer has historically been a part of government life, as exemplified by Pres. Geo. Washington.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
I advocate that the US look at and consider adopting the best healthcare system in the world, namely Singapore's. "C" comes closest to this ideal.
The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.
Disagree
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
Isolationists policies don't work; neither do overly interventionist policies. "B" comes closest to this balance.
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
Sen. Pete Ricketts, Sen. Tom Cotton, Sen. Eric Schmitt, Sen. Jim Banks, Hon. Marco Rubio, Hon. Mike Gallagher, Speaker Mike Johnson, and Hon. Nikki Haley have all warned about the economic and military threat of the CCP.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
It stands as a beacon of democracy surrounded by theocracies and autocracies. Israel is also linked to the US due to the Jewish diaspora and the Judeo-Christian traditions which are integral to Western Civilization.
Islamic terrorism is a threat to the United States' national security.
Strongly Agree
The 1993 World Trade Center bombing, Sept. 11, 2001 attack, 2004 Madrid Train bombing, Fort Hood shooting in 2009, Boston Marathon bombing in 2013, 2025 New Orleans Bourbon Street truck attack, Oct. 7, 2023 attack in S. Israel represent but a fraction of Islamic terrorist incidents against the West and its allies.
IMMIGRATION
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
The US should favor immigrants which are best suited to its national interest -- no different than other countries.
I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.
Strongly Disagree
EDUCATION
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Agree
The Department of Education as we know it was established in 1987 by Jimmy Carter; Carter's term is perhaps best remembered for long gas lines, stagflation, prime interest rates reaching near 20% and the Iranian hostage crisis; critics believe that the Department of Education, rather than furthering literacy and global competitiveness in STEM subjects, instead has been used for indoctrination rather than education.
Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.
Strongly Agree
Perhaps the starkest example of why foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education is the PRC's "United Front" efforts, which reportedly saw the underwriting of 100+ Confucious Institutes, +/- 200 Chinese Students and Scholars Associations, and other strategies to influence US colleges, universities and Western society.
VALUES
Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.
Strongly Agree
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Agree
Prop 22 was struck by the CA Supreme Court; Prop 8 was struck by a fed judge and let stand by SCOTUS in 2013. As a U.S. citizen, I abide by SCOTUS' ruling; however, I do believe that modern attacks on the traditional definition of marriage (which stood for nearly 4 millennia since the Code of Hammurabi) will not be judged kindly by history.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a baptized Episcopalian who attended a Catholic high school and university (undergrad and grad). I believe that zealotry is dangerous and that one's religious leanings and faith should be colored by critical thinking and deliberation.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Most agree that voter ID would eliminate a great deal of voter fraud.
EQUALITY
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
Our energy strategy should be multi-variate, but we need baseline power; nuclear provides this, as do natural gas and coal. The intermittent power of solar and wind farms has costs, including battery storage risks, difficult disposal issues, etc.
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
I am an independently-minded fiscal conservative, believe in common sense, and have an originalist's view of our Constitution; rather than warping interpretation of the US Constitution to suit modern tastes, changes should be done by amendment -- that is the purpose of the amendment mechanism; judicial overreach is no different than executive or legislative overreach; our founders intended a system of checks and balances so that power rests with the people, humbly colored by our trust in God.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.
Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I am a steadfast advocate of the Second Amendment and believe that California continues to enact laws which directly violate the U.S. Constitution. I applaud the fed's efforts to reinstitute Californians' 2A rights. The 2A is the last defense against tyranny; the 2A is not merely about self-defense. Our founders' wisdom should be honored; history is littered with examples of what happens when certain ethnic groups are disarmed, or only criminals have access to guns.
