Roe v. Wade represented a reasonable, moderate position on abortion that allowed women the freedom to choose motherhood and their doctors the ability to provide the most appropriate healthcare based on the best interest of the woman.

Schools should act in the best interests of the student, in accordance with applicable law, to provide counseling and assistance in obtaining the medical, family, and/or caregiver support they need to act in their own best interests.

I believe the government should fund Pre-K through graduate school because this ensures that everyone has the essential skills needed to be productive and successful and to contribute to society in meaningful ways. It is an investment in human excellence that would pay for itself by increasing gainful employment and social mobility, reducing poverty and crime, and enabling social cohesion.

I advocate for highly progressive taxation, so for me the issue of who is responsible should be determined by an analysis of who benefits. In accordance with my views on government funding of education, I think everyone benefits from having an educated population, but the wealthier benefit proportionally more and should rightfully provide a greater share of support.

It means that one religion is not favored over another in any way. In practical terms, this means leaving religion and religious instruction out of the classroom. Students should be allowed to engage in non-guided, completely voluntary prayer or other non-disruptive religious practice provided it does not interfere with the rights of other students, even one student, who may not have the same religious affiliation or who may be non-religious.

I am in favor of the complete and immediate dissolution of ICE because it has evolved into an oppressive, fascist organization that impedes upon the constitutional rights of people in this country. I believe in reasonable border control that allows meaningful due process for all immigrants, a supportive infrastructure for asylum seekers, and humane treatment for all people regardless of their legal status or criminal background.

Good behavior is encouraged by enabling teachers and staff to engage with students holistically and to get to know their students on a personal level, while maintaining appropriate boundaries. To this end, I favor smaller class sizes, sufficient numbers of teaching assistants, and explanatory discipline. I am opposed to out of school suspension unless there is a genuine safety issue.

The founding of this country should be taught thoroughly and factually in order to instill knowledge rather than patriotism. Expressing patriotism is fine as long as it is not forced on students or used to silence criticism of government or American society.

The U.S. Dept of Education should be restored to what it was prior to the Trump administration's elimination of it. Federal support for public schools is essential, and federal funding for education should be increased.

I would favor a variety of topics to be taught (with the right to opt-out) in a respectful, empathetic, and age-appropriate manner to the extent recommended by our expert educators so long as it includes information about contraceptives and legal abortion, consent and the consequences of non-consent, social consequences of pregnancy, self-pleasure and equal time given to female sexuality, i.e., the role of the clitoris in female orgasm.

I believe teachers and educational experts should determine the prioritizing of subjects, which may be different for individual or certain groups of students. I am not opposed to any particular topic of study as long as it is deemed to be of genuine educational value and age appropriate by the relevant experts. In general, a good basic education will always nurture the ability read, write, use math and logic, think critically, and develop social and emotional wellbeing.

School choice has been the primary cause of the dysfunction of public schools. The defunding of public schools and diverting of public money into private schools has been just one troubling aspect. School choice also serves to increase segregation along socio-economic lines. While it may produce great outcomes for a privileged few, it negatively impacts the majority. I am in favor of more oversight of private schools in order to gain much needed insight into the actual effects of school choice.

Yes, within limits. Children have unalienable rights just like everyone else. This includes the right to an education, healthcare, a loving family and social support, a safe home environment, and to be free from abuse and exploitation. To the extent parents do not provide these things, government must step in and do the right thing, keeping in mind the best short- and long-term interests of the child.
