QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Disagree

From detectable life (e.g. fetal heartbeat) until natural death.

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Disagree

In vitro fertilization generated embryos are still just multicellular aggregates without the hallmarks of life.

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

Prior to detectable fetal heartbeat. In cases of rape, incest, or danger to the life of the mother up to the age at which the earliest fetus has ever survived outside of the womb (currently 22 weeks).

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Agree

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

People who can afford to pay more taxes should do so in order to provide relief for working families.

Disagree

The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.

Agree

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

1. A more efficient health care system focused on prevention, early detection and cure of disease that thus reduces Medicare and ACA costs while maintaining a larger pool of social security payers. 2. A shift toward denaturalization and exile for non-murder felons that could drastically reduce the ~100 billion dollars a year spent on incarceration while eliminating the majority of violent crimes that are currently committed by repeat offenders. 3. Cost overrun sharing by government contractors.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Disagree

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

There should be no government sponsored religion, and governmental entities should treat all citizens equally regardless of their religious beliefs

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

I am closest to C) but my healthcare plan is distinct from any of these. The government would fund a universal "wellness" plan providing disease prevention and early testing services for all. Private insurance would then be less expensive for all and focused on covering expenses for those that do become sick. In this setting private insurance could be available across a larger range of costs and options without compromising overall public health.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Disagree

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. We must remain the leaders of the free world yet be much more judicious in becoming directly involved in foreign wars in which there is no imminent threat to our security or economic well-being.

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Agree

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Israel has been our most steadfast ally in the Middle East and a valuable partner in developing new and impactful defense technologies, particularly as pertains to missile defense.

Islamic terrorism is a threat to the United States' national security.

Agree

IMMIGRATION

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

LEGAL immigration is a foundational element of the American success story and must be preserved. We must continue to accept both technologically skilled workers from Europe and Asia, as well general immigrants from across the globe seeking the American dream as long as they have no criminal record or terrorist ties.

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Strongly Disagree

I believe the practice of "Sanctuary Cities" is illegal and should be punished to fullest extent of federal law.

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Disagree

I do not support elimination of the DOE, but rather refocusing the DOE on improving educational opportunity at two critical phases of child development: 1) ages 2-5 (Pre-K) and 2) college testing preparation. In addition, the DoE could be empowered to restore educational focus on fundamental subjects to make our students more competitive relative to other developed nations.

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Disagree

I support 100% transparent disclosure of foreign funds flowing to US universities; however, absolute prohibition of foreign funding could be highly detrimental to philanthropy that provides benefit not just to the students attending these universities but the communities in which they reside (e.g. money donated for new hospital facilities that are part of a medical school).

VALUES

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Neutral

There are medical nuances to absolute answers to this question, but surgical gender transitions should absolutely be prohibited on anyone under the age of consent.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Disagree

I support the Supreme Court's decision to open marriage across gender barriers for common law purposes and defer to individual religious institutions on what they chose to sanction as a valid marriage under their scripture.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe that the teachings of God and his son Jesus Christ not only define what it means to lead a "good" life but also teach key values and principles that help define our identity as human beings and what goals we should pursue for the betterment of mankind.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

EQUALITY

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

I believe that energy independence is an absolute necessity for the United States and that currently that can best be preserved through fossil fuels such as oil and natural gas. The future may focus on personal solar and large scale nuclear fusion.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Everyone defines these categories for themselves, but I consider myself a centrist conservative.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I don't believe that criminal background checks and checks for psychiatric institutionalization substantially infringe on 2nd amendment rights and they help protect our children and communities from guns ending up in the wrong hands.
