OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

Never. I do not consider an abortion required to save the life of the mother to be elective or after the baby has died in the womb to be elective.

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Strongly Agree

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Strongly Agree

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Strongly Agree

ECONOMY

What is your position on the minimum wage?

As a matter of principle, I believe wages should be set by the open market. So I will not vote to raise the minimum wage.

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

1. Vigorous exercise of the sunset laws. 2. Full transparency across all funds (accounts), whether or not subject to legislative process, as to (a) source of revenue, (b) budget, and (c) actual expenditures. This would include requiring the Comptroller to provide public access to all expenditures. 3. Create a task force to stress test all programs to determine necessity and efficiency. 4. Limit debt to only purchase of assets with greater than 20 year life expectancy.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

No government-imposed or government-sanctioned religion (or subset - denomination). Government should not be hostile to religion. People of faith should have equal and unencumbered access to the public square.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Disagree

I would strongly disagree if this question were limited to individuals. I think when a business says it provides generic goods or services to the public, as part of the social contract it should understand that it is providing goods or services to all of the public. However, when the "business" is really the individual, then they should always have the right to say "no."

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

All taxpayer funded health care should be abolished and defunded, provided, however, we permit multistate insurance groups and plans to be formed which will spread risk over millions of people and thereby be able to offer good insurance for reasonable prices.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Strongly Disagree

I disagree on fundamental privacy principles. However, if you want the government to directly or indirectly fund your healthcare, perhaps government has a right to know how sick you are and why, so that it can then decide whether and how much health care to provide. This is another reason why government should get out of the healthcare business and healthcare decision-making.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Yes. Israel is the most stable and critical ally we have in the region. Israel does not promote or fund jihad against the United States or against Christians; every other country in that region does. Without Israel, we would have no beachhead of freedom and liberty in the region.

IMMIGRATION

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Strongly Disagree

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Agree

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Strongly Agree

The way the question is worded, I strongly agree. However, in some sense this is a trick question. For example, a country might provide a scholarship for their citizens to study abroad. Tuition is funding. Also, Texas A&M might have an oil field study going on in the Gulf of Oman, funded by the Saudis. Research funding is funding. What I think the question has in mind is wholesale funding of entire departments or fields of study, which I oppose.

VALUES

Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.

Strongly Agree

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Strongly Agree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Agree

I support the expansion of gambling in my state.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian, saved by the sovereign exercise of God's mercy toward me through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and through His sovereign action in giving me and opening my eyes to see and ears to hear, and for no other reason. I need to honor that gift every moment of every day. As God opens doors for me, I need to walk through those doors in faith, knowing that all my steps taken in faith will lead to His outcome in my life and the lives I touch. Live always in victory, not fear.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

Strongly Disagree

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Nuclear long term; natural gas short term.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?

Protection of society.

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Strongly Agree

I strongly agree that government has "a" responsibility, but not "the" responsibility. "The" responsibility first falls on parents. The question should be does government have a responsibility to provide mechanisms to help parents protect their children from all exploitation, online or otherwise?

Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.

Strongly Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

None.
