QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Neutral

I trust individuals—not politicians—to make deeply personal healthcare decisions in consultation with their doctors. My role as a legislator is to ensure that the infrastructure, resources, and access exist for people to exercise that autonomy, not to impose my personal beliefs on their private medical choices.

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

My campaign is grounded in the principle that government should expand opportunity and protect individual rights, not restrict access to essential healthcare based on political ideology. Just as I believe every child deserves a quality education regardless of their zip code, I believe every person deserves access to comprehensive healthcare regardless of their income.

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Neutral

Restricting funding based on ideological opposition to a provider's services undermines public health, increases unintended pregnancies, and ultimately places greater strain on social services, schools, and communities.

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Agree

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Agree

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

It means precisely what is in the statement of the question. There should always be a separation of church and state.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Agree

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Agree

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

We need to fix the US before working on relationships with other countries.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Strongly Disagree

ECONOMY

What is your position on the minimum wage?

Working families deserve to earn a livable wage in NC. At this time, we do not provide a means to accolmplish this goal.

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Agree

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

1. End foreign teacher recruitment 2. Restore accountability to the voucher program 3. Streamline Administrative Mandates and Compliance Burdens 4. Address Deferred Maintenance to Prevent Costly Emergency Repairs 5. Ensure Budget Transparency and Timely Passage

IMMIGRATION

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Agree

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Disagree

The Department of Education could have been run more efficiently if teachers had been hired to lead it.

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Neutral

North Carolina isn't funding anything right now, so I am perplexed about how to answer this question. Our legislator has not passed a budget, and it is embarrassing at this point.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?

To not have "for-profit" or "privately owned" prisons.

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Strongly Agree

Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.

Strongly Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I want to be clear: I respect the Second Amendment and the rights of law-abiding citizens to own firearms for hunting, sport, and personal protection. This position is about military-style weapons specifically designed for rapid, high-casualty scenarios. These weapons have become the tool of choice in our nation's most devastating school shootings and mass casualty events. I support reinstating a federal ban on assault-style weapons and high-capacity magazines.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Lean Conservative

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No! I appreciate the opportunity to respond, though I must respectfully note that as a lifelong educator with a doctorate in Educational Leadership, I find this question troubling.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No! I appreciate the opportunity to respond, though I must respectfully note that as a lifelong educator with a doctorate in Educational Leadership, I find this question troubling.

VALUES

Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.

Neutral

The government should support the health and education of teachers, who have the proper training in this arena. Parents lead with their hearts and not their brains.

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Disagree

That is up to the parent and child, not the government or political idealogy.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Neutral

Again, that is up to the individuals involved, not the government or political ideology.

I support the expansion of gambling in my state.

Agree

If it means more money for all forms of education, then yes.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I was raised Southern Baptist. My undergraduate degree is from Mars Hill University. One of my master's degrees is from Gardner Webb University, and my doctorate is from North Greenville University. That alone should tell you everything you need to know about my religious views.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Neutral

I appreciate the opportunity to respond, though I must respectfully note that as a lifelong educator with a doctorate in Educational Leadership, I find this question troubling.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Neutral

I would encourage those crafting political surveys to consider whether questions like this serve to inform voters or simply to divide us. As someone who has dedicated my career to teaching critical thinking and helping young people understand our shared human story, I believe we can have more substantive conversations about the issues that truly affect our communities.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

Choose not to answer

What does this really have to do with the real issues hurting North Carolina Families? Again, I appreciate the opportunity to respond, though I must respectfully note that as a lifelong educator with a doctorate in Educational Leadership, I find this question troubling.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

The most reliable energy source would be the one that doesn't harm the environment and provides us with a world we can safely leave to our kids and grandkids.
