QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Agree

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

All abortion laws should include exceptions for rape, incest, and life of the mother

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Strongly Agree

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Disagree

IVF allows couples struggling with fertility to have the chance at having a family. This issue is up to those pursuing the creation of these embryos in accordance with their beliefs.

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Disagree

As we've seen over the last few years, the issue of abortion should be left up to states and not to the federal government.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

I believe in a balanced approach. I do not believe that the separation of church and state is a strict wall, but instead, I believe the intent was to protect our religious institutions from the government. I fall on the side of increasing Free Exercise as we have seen throughout the last 100 years on the Supreme Court. This has resulted in protecting those who are active in practicing their faith, regardless of religion.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Yes, aside from a religious perspective, we have a strategic and geopolitical reason to have an ongoing relationship with Israel. They are a continual ally in an area where radical ideology poses a threat to America and the entire world. However, we must balance all relationships by prioritizing America first in terms of taking care of our own citizens and issues with urgency.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

C - In North Carolina, Medicaid has already been expanded. We should focus our healthcare policies on expanding free-market ideas. One way we can do this is by eliminating Certificate of Need laws. These regulations are harmful to the quality of life in North Carolina and place financial strain on our families. Our healthcare system limits the services provided, restricts competition, and places a heavy financial burden, which impacts affordable healthcare. Free market ideals can fix this.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Strongly Disagree

ECONOMY

What is your position on the minimum wage?

The push to raise the minimum wage allows the government to step into a place where it does not belong. Instead, we need to allow the free market to guide wages. Relying on the government to do this stifles economic opportunity.

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

1) Evaluate and Eliminate Wasteful Spending 2) Increase Accountability - The REINS Act is a fantastic first step in North Carolina for this effort. 3) Reduce Overtaxation and Overregulation - We are seeing impacts of property taxes and other regulations costing excess money to our middle class. We must address these issues to increase affordability and improve the quality of life in our community.

IMMIGRATION

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Strongly Disagree

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Agree

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Strongly Agree

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?

The main goal of the criminal justice system is to keep our communities safe. We've seen a failure at this lately in North Carolina at the judicial level, as cashless bail policies allowed violent criminals back onto our streets. I'll support policies like Iryna's Law that ended cashless bail in North Carolina. As crime continues to rise in our neighborhoods, we must expand policing in ways that make sense, but this is useless if our judicial system is not in lockstep.

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Strongly Agree

Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.

Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I am a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment. The right to defend yourself, your home, and your family is foundational. However, to keep our streets safe, I am in favor of restricting gun ownership/possession for convicted felons.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

VALUES

Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.

Strongly Agree

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Agree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Neutral

I support the expansion of gambling in my state.

Neutral

We need more research on the costs, potential economic benefits, and illustrated downfalls of these types of policies. There are also situations today where rogue, illegal gambling is taking place in this state. If these trends continue, we need to find ways to regulate this issue to keep our communities safe and free of illegal gambling hubs.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a proud Catholic and my faith constantly guides my daily life. I believe that our rights come from God, not from government.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Disagree

The Reconstruction Amendments and subsequent Civil Rights Legislation remedied generations of heinous injustice in our country. While we cannot change the past, we can remain focused on making sure that nothing so evil ever takes place in this country again. Our system is designed to right wrongs by using legislation, judicial review, and public advocacy to constantly improve policy and expand liberty.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

Disagree

I believe we need to be good stewards of our planet, but this should not come at the price that is illustrated in legislation like the Green New Deal.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Nuclear energy, coal, and natural gas are the most reliable and readily available sources of energy to meet demand. Prioritizing energy independence is critical to keeping prices down and making energy affordable for families.
