QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

Every human life is sacred from conception to natural death—no exceptions. The unborn child has the same right to life as any born child. The only time we may lose a baby is when doctors have done everything possible to save both, yet the mother’s life remains in immediate danger. That’s tragedy, not abortion. Rape & incest are horrific; punish the criminal, never the child. My goal: Equal protection for every child, born & unborn.

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Strongly Agree

Chemical abortion drugs should not exist. They are a detriment and blight on society.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

No taxpayer dollars — federal, state, or local — should ever go to abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood. Iowans’ money must never fund abortion. Those dollars should be redirected to community health centers and pregnancy resource centers that provide real, compassionate care for women and families: prenatal services, adoption support, and true healthcare without ending innocent lives. Responsible stewardship protects both mothers and babies.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

Iowa’s laws rightly protect the sanctity of every human life from conception to natural death. So-called “aid in dying” laws—assisted suicide and euthanasia—devalue the vulnerable, destroy trust in medicine, and invite coercion and abuse. True compassion offers excellent pain relief, hospice care, and spiritual support, never intentionally ending life. As a Christian, I affirm life is God’s sacred gift. I strongly oppose legalizing assisted suicide or euthanasia.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Government can never close churches. Period. The First Amendment and Iowa’s strong religious liberty protections forbid it. During COVID, we saw politicians target houses of worship while allowing liquor stores and casinos to stay open—unconstitutional overreach. Churches are essential, often the true front line for spiritual and community healing. Many crises we face are spiritual in nature, yet too many churches abdicated leadership when government demanded silence.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Government must never force individuals or businesses to provide services that violate their deeply held religious beliefs or conscience. The First Amendment protects both free exercise of religion and freedom from compelled speech. Forcing someone to speak or act against their faith is unconstitutional coercion. True tolerance respects differences; it does not punish people for living according to their sincere convictions.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

The Chinese Communist Party is the greatest long-term threat to America’s security and prosperity. From military buildup to cyber warfare, IP theft to economic coercion, the CCP plays for keeps. In Iowa, their attempts to buy our farmland and dominate ag markets threaten our food security and family farms. We must strategically decouple, ban CCP ownership of U.S. soil, and bring critical supply chains home. Strength and clarity protect Iowa jobs and America’s future.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

America’s alliance with Israel is indispensable. Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East, rooted in the same Judeo-Christian values that founded our nation. It is a technological powerhouse and our strongest ally, providing unrivaled intelligence and counterterrorism support. Israel stands as the frontline bulwark against radical Islam and Iranian aggression. When Israel is strong, America is safer. We must stand unapologetically with Israel—morally and strategically.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

Healthcare is not a right that government must provide. Medicare and Medicaid are unsustainable and must be responsibly phased out. Socialized systems fail everywhere; free markets deliver better care at lower cost through competition. We can protect the truly vulnerable during transition with block grants, expanded HSAs, charity care, and church-based solutions—while restoring personal responsibility and real choice. Long-term, fully private healthcare is the only moral and fiscal answer.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

No government, school, or employer should ever mandate vaccines. Medical choices belong to individuals and families—protected by bodily autonomy and informed consent. Public health builds trust, never coerces.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Free enterprise and private property are enshrined in our Constitution. They unleash innovation, create wealth, and lift millions from poverty. Socialism and communism violate both God’s law and America’s founding, replacing opportunity with coercion. Limited government safeguards liberty so families, churches, and individuals decide how to use their earnings and fund real charity. Strong property rights and free markets honor God and serve people best.

What is your position on the minimum wage?

Free markets should be the determining factor on setting wages and unleashing opportunity. Minimum wage requirements kill entry-level jobs, spikes youth unemployment, crushes small businesses, and raises prices.

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

No

No. Public funds in Iowa must be invested solely for maximum risk-adjusted return—period. Using ESG scores is cultural Marxism disguised as investing. It sacrifices teachers’, firefighters’, and retirees’ pensions on the altar of woke politics while funneling billions to China and killing American energy jobs. BlackRock and its allies have no business gambling Iowans’ money on ideological agendas. My policy: total ESG ban for all state funds. Fiduciary duty only.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

The southern border is both a humanitarian crisis and a national-security invasion. We must finish the wall, mandate E-Verify, end catch-and-release, and continue deportations – the proven Trump policies that made our border safer than ever. This issue has touched Iowa communities directly. Securing the border completely protects American families, stops deadly drugs, and restores order. It’s common sense, not partisanship.

EDUCATION

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Strongly Agree

Parents, not the state, are ultimately responsible for their child’s education. Dollars must follow the child to public, private, charter, or homeschool options. Iowa is leading thanks to Governor Reynolds’—and I’ll keep pressing forward. Bloated bureaucracies, sky-high admin salaries, and indoctrination have no place. Tax dollars should teach children how to think, not what to think. True reform puts learning first, empowers parents, and gives every Iowa child the best education possible.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Strongly Disagree

No. Defunding police is reckless and proven disastrous—cities that slashed budgets saw violent crime surge 30–50% in 2020–2022. Iowa chose the opposite: we fully fund and back our law enforcement, keeping crime among the lowest in America. Strong, well-trained police are non-negotiable for safety. Sensible community programs deserve support too, but never by taking a single dollar from those who protect us. Public safety first—always.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Gun restrictions target law-abiding citizens, not criminals. Public safety comes from enforcing existing laws, prosecuting violent offenders, and requiring narrowly scoped background checks for violent crime—not sweeping bans. The Second Amendment is clear: shall not be infringed.

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

Yes. Armed, well-trained teachers deter threats and protect students. Participation should be voluntary, with at least one armed professional in every school. Strict training and policies ensure safety—millions carry daily without incident, and this can be replicated in schools.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No.

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

Government’s sole purpose, by God’s design and our Founders’ wisdom, is to secure our God-given rights to life, liberty, and property, punish evil, and protect the innocent (Romans 13). It must stay strictly limited. In Iowa, government serves Iowans: defend life, keep us safe and free, then get out of the way so families, churches, and communities flourish. Anything more is overreach.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

I believe in limited government that keeps law and order. Protect life, liberty, property. Marriage is one man-one woman, family is society’s base, innocent life must be defended. Nations serve their citizens first, honor treaties, avoid needless wars. Conscience rights trump compelled acts. Human nature needs restraint; tradition needs preserving.

VALUES

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Strongly Agree

Children are the most vulnerable among us and must be protected. Puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries on minors are irreversible child abuse—never healthcare. God makes no mistakes; adults must never confuse children about their God-given sex. Parents have the absolute right to know what schools teach and how their child is treated. I will safeguard childhood innocence.

Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.

Strongly Agree

God entrusts parents—not the state—with raising their children. That sacred, constitutional right is the bedrock of a free society. Yet no parent may abuse that trust. Giving minors puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, or mutilating surgeries is child abuse, plain and simple. Iowa will fiercely protect parental rights and fiercely protect children from irreversible harm disguised as “care.”

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Strongly Disagree

Not one taxpayer dollar should ever fund gender transition services—for anyone, any age. Adults may spend their own money as they choose, but Iowa taxpayers will never be forced to pay for experimental drugs, hormones, or surgeries that cause irreversible harm and lifelong regret—especially to children. Using public funds this way is both morally wrong and fiscally irresponsible.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Agree

Marriage is God’s sacred covenant between one man and one woman, established long before any government existed. No state or court has authority to redefine what God ordained. In Iowa, we protect this biblical truth in law and always will. Government’s only role is to recognize—not recreate—marriage as the foundational institution for family and society.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a follower of Jesus Christ. The Bible is God’s Word—my ultimate authority for faith and life. I believe we are created in God’s image, saved by grace through faith alone, and called to love God and neighbor. Those truths shape every decision: life is sacred, family is foundational, truth matters, and humility, integrity, and service are non-negotiable. My trust is in Christ, not politics, but He compels me, with my family, to steward this moment faithfully.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Requiring photo ID to vote is basic election integrity. Fraud is real, and every illegal vote cancels a legal one. Iowa already gives free photo IDs to anyone who needs one—claiming it’s “suppression” or “racist” is pure fear-mongering with zero evidence. You need ID to buy alcohol, board a plane, or cash a check. Voting is the most sacred civic act; protecting it with ID is common sense, not discrimination. No excuses, no exceptions.

States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.

Strongly Disagree

The National Popular Vote Compact is an unconstitutional end-run around the Electoral College, undermining federalism and the Founders’ genius design. It’s bad policy that would let California and New York drown out Iowa’s voice—silencing our 6 electoral votes and rural values on farming, energy, and family. We must protect small states’ influence; without it, national campaigns ignore heartland America.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

No—racism is not a serious threat to domestic security. FBI data show hate crimes are rare (<1% of total crime) and declining. America has sacrificed immensely and overcome legal racism to become the least racist multiracial nation in history. The real danger is divisive identity politics that weaponize “racism” to sow distrust and tear us apart. True security comes from e pluribus unum—one nation, under God, indivisible—judging people by character, not skin color.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Critical Race Theory wrongly asserts our institutions are fundamentally racist—a divisive, backward view that ignores America’s strides in equality and pits us against each other instead of uniting. Its cousin DEI burdens companies with wasteful spending ($8.2B in 2025) on forced quotas and programs that hurt fairness, team morale, and bottom lines. True stewardship means focusing on merit-based opportunity for all, not ideological mandates that divide and distract.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

Biological males must never compete in women’s sports or enter women’s private spaces—bathrooms, locker rooms, shelters, sororities, or prisons. Men and women are created different by God to complement each other; pretending otherwise destroys fairness and endangers women. In Iowa, our daughters deserve level playing fields and safe spaces. Keeping biological reality in law protects every woman and girl. No exceptions.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.

I select A and C. Stricter environmental laws and the Green New Deal-style mandates cost jobs, crush Iowa farmers with regulations, and undermine our energy independence by forcing unreliable wind/solar over dependable coal, natural gas, and nuclear. Climate alarmism is exaggerated; data show no crisis justifying economic suicide. We honor God by true stewardship—clean air and water through innovation and markets, not heavy-handed EPA rules that hurt Iowa families.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Nuclear is the most reliable, 24/7 energy source to meet growing demand. Iowa’s plants prove it. Natural gas and clean coal back it up. Wind has failed; solar may improve privately. We need dependable power that keeps Iowa strong and affordable.
