QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Agree
I think that women's reproductive rights are important, but they should not become a taxpayer liability.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
Rape. sexual assault/battery, incest, danger to life of the Mother
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Agree
We should respect the sanctity of life and the rights of those to chose what to do with their own. The danger comes in centralized decision-making for those in positions of collective power to exercise influence over those who may know what would be best for themselves.
The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.
Neutral
I have mixed feelings on this issue because scientific research on stem cells and synthetic embryos can save lives. However, I do not know when and where to draw a timeline distinction as to when a human embryos can be fully considered a life.
The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.
Agree
Abortion should be allowed, and I am pro-choice generally. Nevertheless, I do not wish to encourage abortion via pharmaceutical drugs and agents.
ECONOMY
What is your position on the minimum wage?
The minimum wage hurts lower skilled laborers and those attempting to enter the workforce more than it helps. The government should not decide or interfere in the economy with wage controls since it inhibits a fair exchange of time for work.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
I am a capitalist, and it makes sense to encourage property rights/ownership and unburdened trade.
List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.
1) Remove needless regulatory hurdles: too much red tape enters the economic system with government interference 2) Incentive to complete public works tasks on time or early: too much time is wasted with incomplete projects and those that need repair/resolution 3) Encouragement of more free and unfettered interstate and international trade: elimination of tariffs, quotas, border taxes, wasteful carrier fees, and handling charges 4) Full budget overhauls: include entitlements, defense spending
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
The National and State Governments do not create or promote religion, nor prevent the free exercise of it. Religions should not have roles in public policies, such as education, social policy, law, medical treatment, and family dynamics. Consulting and advisory positions can be allowed if they stay in the scope of information provision and do not stray beyond to encouragement of policy.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Disagree
If there are competitive markets, then those who wish to declare a moral imperative can make a viable economic decision to patronize another store, shop, site, or, section. Forcing decisions is fascism, and capitalism allows the interest of each to be the good of all.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
C) There is too much public money flooding the will of people to have active, affordable choices when making healthcare decisions. People cannot even find out what procedures, medications, and treatments cost ahead of time, and they cannot cross state lines to explore other options. Tort reform is required. Standards of care are falling because of government overreach.
The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.
Disagree
The government should not surveil its citizens. That is a slippery slope that leads to authoritarianism. A society should be judged by how it cares for its most needy, but this matter is best left out of the hands of government.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
The evidence of hacking, espionage, identity thefts, and scams from China is overwhelming.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Yes. The US and Israel are allies, and Israel serves as a balance to the rise of Islamic fascism. The leaders would do well to remember this precept instead of their own narcissistic delusions.
IMMIGRATION
I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.
Disagree
Sanctuary cities are creating more crime, fewer economic opportunities, and draining public funds. They should not need to exist.
EDUCATION
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Agree
The US Department of Education gravely mismanages funding for schools and training, leading to an undereducated, unskilled, and unwilling labor force. Letting the local economies handle those issues is more akin to what the Founders wanted. It would also allow more Representative than Trustee systems of governance and allow less bureaucracy between those in charge and those in need.
Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.
Disagree
The US gained great allies through funding education after the Second World War. Foreign governments could do the same in the US, especially in the STEM fields where the US lags other developed nations. There would need to be vetting to ensure that the missions and visions of the foreign governments were not nefarious, but the examples of the UK, France, Spain, Japan, and Germany in the US education system have historically paid great dividends. Other countries could follow those models.
VALUES
Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.
Strongly Agree
Governments need to stay out of private homes. Parents and families (however they may come) supersede any central control.
Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.
Strongly Agree
Children should not be forced into transition. It comes through the exploration of life and the encouragement for acceptance. Some children feel out of place in a changing world, but force is not the answer.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Neutral
Marriage is what we make it out to be. Traditional vs. modern is not the only decision. Like-minded, civilized, and rational people can disagree. Governments should not be the arbiter.
I support the expansion of gambling in my state.
Strongly Agree
Gambling, whether people like it or not, generates revenue for states. It is voluntary and entered without coercion. Those who have problems should and should be encouraged to seek treatment.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am an Episcopalian. I believe in a Judeo-Christian architect of the universe, fashioned as a trinity. Belief alone is not enough for the forgiveness of sins; good works are important as well. I think that it's completely fine if people do not agree with me and I to disagree with them. It is always acceptable to disagree without becoming disagreeable.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Neutral
Some proof is needed. A utility and credit card bill and birth certificate together work. A Voter ID card works. The poll worker's job is to verify registrations, and many can do that online or vote by mail. We want free and fair elections, but having an ID does not automatically register someone.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
Which races oppressed which races? When did those crimes occur? Who is entitled to receive reparations on behalf of whom? There are more slaves and indentured servants in the world currently than ever in human history. Who pays their legacy costs to whom? The idea is kind, but the enforcement would be cruel.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Disagree
I am against this idea because there should be a separation of the sexes for these purposes named for safety and security. Genders can be mixed in public place naturally and without coercion.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.
Neutral
There is a threat in climate change, but governments do not have the answer and trying ideas by bureaucrats does not seem to turn out well historically.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
Harnessing solar, wind, geothermal and tidal energy, and also creating storage and distribution for those renewable methods
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Lean Conservative
I'm a pragmatist. I have views that are fixed in principle and those that can be changed. A good argument does not care what its source might be. I tend to think the free market solutions outweigh government oversight and regulation.
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No, never
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No, never
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?
Rehabilitation for those who have been convicted of crimes as well as respect for equal protection and due process under the law
Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.
Agree
It's not just the government. Everyone should work to prevent exploitation of children and minors online and offline also.
Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.
Strongly Agree
Our rule of law is secular, so no religious elements of any faith should go beyond that scope. Sharia law integrates too much religious belief with legal remedy.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Background checks for criminals, mentally disturbed, minors, and untrained users
