QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Choose not to answer
No relevant to public education.
What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?
A student’s family should be helping their child decide the care they need for pregnancy.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Teachers should be required to instruct students on mandated curriculum even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Choose not to answer
Every individual has a right to their moral and/or religious beliefs. If the job you chose has requirements that you do not want to fulfill, we live in a great country where you are free to find a position which better matches your beliefs.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Choose not to answer
Many experts say, the United States economic structure has raised more individuals out of poverty than any other economic system. It is critical our students receive access to great education opportunities so they can create successful futures.
What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
I support government (taxpayer) funding of public education. The Colorado Constitution guarantees a free public education for children six to twenty-one which I strongly support.
EDUCATION
Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Choose not to answer
Schools should be providing curriculum for sex education with factual science-based information. In Colorado, the local school board is legally responsible for selecting that curriculum. I would only select curriculum that is science based.
Consistent discipline creates a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.
Strongly Agree
We need to ensure our learning environments as safe and I know first-hand maintaining discipline is critical to creating that safe environment.
Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.
Choose not to answer
Students should have the opportunity to learn about America’s founding documents and the principles that shaped our democracy. Educators play a key role in teaching social studies and history, helping students understand the values and structures that make our system of government unique.
I support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
Choose not to answer
These words can sometimes be divisive in our community. My goal is to bring our community together and provide equitable opportunities for all Jeffco students. As a mom and educator, I know that each child has unique needs. We are very lucky in Jeffco to have education options from Waldorf, to Montessori, to Core Knowledge and many more. I will continue to advocate for providing many education opportunities, so each child has the opportunity to succeed.
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Choose not to answer
In Colorado, local school boards are entrusted with selecting curriculum, setting goals, approving budgets, and overseeing the education of their students. While the U.S. Department of Education provides important funding and protections to ensure equity and opportunity, decisions about how students learn are best made at the local level, closest to families and communities.
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning
Public schools need to teach students skills and how to think, not what to think. We are fortunate in Jeffco to have a wide variety of education choices. For example, parents can decide if they prefer a school with a dual language or arts focus. Some schools offer information technology classes, others offer STEM and STEAM choices, some offer classes in each topic. We need to continue to offer a wide variety of options so students are prepared for successful futures.
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child instead of the bureaucracy, through a program which allows parents the freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Choose not to answer
The Colorado Supreme Court has weighed in on this issue; it is not something a local school board can decide.
Which should students have: equity of outcomes or equality of opportunities?
Students should have the opportunity to access the support they need to thrive. They should have equity of opportunities. We don’t buy glasses for each of our child when one has an eyesight problem. Jeffco must ensure that student have access to the resources they need to thrive. Having worked with a range of students from those identified as gifted, to those with special needs, I know first-hand we need to provide the opportunities for students to live up to their greatest potential.
Which type of written parental consent should be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE)? (A) Opt-In. (B) Opt-Out. (C) None.
Parents should be able to view curriculum and opt their child out when needed.
2ND AMENDMENT
Faculty who are licensed to carry and have had ongoing training should be allowed to carry guns at school in order to respond to an active shooter situation.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
In the event of a pandemic, school districts can mandate whatever health precautions they deem necessary (including masks and vaccines) to protect students and staff.
Choose not to answer
Schools must protect health and safety, but families and staff should be consulted before limiting learning access. COVID shutdowns showed the damage of removing students from classrooms, and Jeffco lost families seeking other options. In a large district, one-size-fits-all doesn’t work. The board should provide choices that balance safety with learning and keep families engaged.

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?
In Colorado, the Legislature passed laws in 2019, updated in 2022, that outline when and how Comprehensive Human Sexuality Education can be taught. These laws state that instruction may begin in 4th grade, but schools are not required to offer it. If a school does provide this instruction, it must give parents advance notice with details about the topics and resources to be used. Parents have the right to opt their child out of any lesson or the entire curriculum. Each family should have the choice to decide whether these topics are best taught at home or at school.
If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- abortion methods and side effects; abstinence; consent; contraceptive methods; human anatomy/the reproductive system; physical and emotional health outcomes; sex acts and pleasures of sex; sexual orientation and gender identity; stages of pregnancy and fetal development
According to Colorado law, certain topics must be included if a school offers Comprehensive Human Sexuality Education with the exception of human sexuality instruction, pregnancy outcome options, and abstinence as the sole or primary method of pregnancy prevention. If schools choose to add these topics, they must follow specific state guidelines. Parents are encouraged to review what is being taught and the resources being used in their child’s school, and they have the right to opt their student out of any part or all of the curriculum.
Children have a right to reach maturity without chemical or surgical castration, which would damage their healthy bodies through surgeries and may cause a life-long dependence on cross-sex hormones.

These are family choices that the school board should not be involved in making.
Children have the right to be protected from sexual grooming (including drag shows and explicit materials) in schools and libraries.
Strongly Agree
No child should be sexually groomed.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman essential to the formation and sustaining of a civil and prosperous society.
Choose not to answer
This is not a topic for public schools.
Parents have the fundamental right to raise their child in accordance with their beliefs and values, including the right to make decisions about the child's education and healthcare.
Strongly Agree
As a parent, I can’t fathom a world where anyone other than myself, the father of my children or my designees have any right to raise my children contrary to my wishes.
Parents should have full and timely access to any and all records, including school and medical records, associated with their minor children.
Strongly Agree
Parents absolutely must have full and timely access to any and all records associated with their minor children unless there is a legal binding exception.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Choose not to answer
This is not a school board issue.
EQUALITY
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
As a mom of both biological male and female children, I understand the importance of ensuring fairness, safety, and respect for all students. When it comes to athletics and protected spaces, we need policies that prioritize the well-being and opportunities of young women while also treating every student with dignity.
