Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?
Parents are responsible for teaching sexual education to children. When I was in public school, the administration separated the girls from the boys and gave us basic information about how our bodies would develop. In that day and time, they did not go further with the information and it was general enough for students to understand and yet did not interfere with common values of families.
If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- abortion methods and side effects; abstinence; consent; contraceptive methods; human anatomy/the reproductive system; physical and emotional health outcomes; sex acts and pleasures of sex; sexual orientation and gender identity; stages of pregnancy and fetal development
Below is an excerpt from the policy EHAA Basic Instructional Program: Required Instruction (All Levels)that is used across the state of Texas in most public schools: Present abstinence as the preferred choice of behavior for unmarried persons of school age; Devote more attention to abstinence than to any other behavior; Emphasize that abstinence is the only method that is 100 percent effective in preventing pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, infection with HIV or AIDS, and the emotional trauma associated with adolescent sexual activity; Direct adolescents to a standard of behavior in which abstinence before marriage is the most effective way to prevent pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and infection with HIV or AIDS; and As long as parents are required to OPT-IN and this is taught with parental knowledge - I support policy EHAA
Children have a right to reach maturity without chemical or surgical castration, which would damage their healthy bodies through surgeries and may cause infertility and a life-long dependence on cross-sex hormones.
