QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Choose not to answer
This question is not applicable to a school board trustee position.
What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?
Schools should follow state laws and local school board policies.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Teachers should be required to refer to students by pronouns which are misaligned with their gender at birth even if it would violate the teacher's moral and/or religious beliefs.
Choose not to answer
Teachers should be able to foster positive and supportive relationships with their students. State laws should not restrict how teachers connect with students in the classroom, as each student’s needs are unique. Educators and local communities are best positioned to create learning environments built on trust and respect.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
Pre-K through 12th grade public education should be fully funded by the State of Texas. The Texas Constitution, Article 7, Section 1, states: “It shall be the duty of the Legislature of the State to establish and make suitable provision for the support and maintenance of an efficient system of public free schools.” Texas must fulfill this duty by ensuring equitable state funding rather than overburdening local taxpayers.
EDUCATION
Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Strongly Disagree
Consistent discipline creates a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.
Strongly Agree
Additionally, building strong relationships with students is essential to their learning.
Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.
Strongly Agree
Currently, Texas Essential Skills and Knowledge (TEKS) cover both patriotism and America’s Founding Documents across grade levels.
I support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
Strongly Agree
As a school board trustee, I believe in respecting every individual and recognizing that not all students, families, and staff share the same life experiences. It is essential to acknowledge these differences, treat everyone with dignity, and value each perspective. Embracing who we are strengthens our schools, helps ensure all students are prepared to succeed in a globally connected society, and fosters the values of liberty, opportunity, and civic responsibility that make our country strong.
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Disagree
States maintain primary authority over education except in areas where federal law establishes requirements such as standardized testing or allocates funding to states and school districts. The U.S. Department of Education also holds jurisdiction to investigate potential violations of federal law and instances of misuse of federal funds. For example, in Texas, the state sets curriculum standards through the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), while federal law requires annual testing.
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning
Language Arts, Math, Recess/Physical Education, Social Studies, Science, Arts (all forms), Vocational (high school)
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child instead of the bureaucracy, through a program which allows parents the freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Strongly Disagree
The Texas Constitution requires the Legislature to provide an efficient system of public schools. Funding is based on an October snapshot, so students who enroll later, transferring from private or charter schools, bring no state dollars that year, forcing public schools to cover costs locally and limiting resources for classrooms. Additionally, current funding, including the Robin Hood recapture system, often takes local dollars from districts like CFISD.
Which should students have: equity of outcomes or equality of opportunities?
Every student deserves the opportunity to learn and grow, equipping them for college, careers, or military service
Which type of written parental consent should be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE)? (A) Opt-In. (B) Opt-Out. (C) None.
The state currently requires an Opt-In policy.
2ND AMENDMENT
Faculty who are licensed to carry and have had ongoing training should be allowed to carry guns at school in order to respond to an active shooter situation.
Neutral
Not all Texas school districts have their own police force or School Resource Officers. In districts without on-campus law enforcement, certain staff can be authorized to carry firearms if they complete state-required training and hold a License to Carry. This authority is governed by Texas Education Code §37.0811, which sets the standards for school marshals and staff carrying on campus.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
In the event of a pandemic, school districts can mandate whatever health precautions they deem necessary (including masks and vaccines) to protect students and staff.

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?
Parents should decide the appropriate age for their children. Education on the biological changes of the body and reproduction should be provided with parental consent, typically around the time of puberty.
If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- abortion methods and side effects; abstinence; consent; contraceptive methods; human anatomy/the reproductive system; physical and emotional health outcomes; sex acts and pleasures of sex; sexual orientation and gender identity; stages of pregnancy and fetal development
Human anatomy/the reproductive system, stages of pregnancy and fetal development, disease, prevention, & consent.
Children have a right to reach maturity without chemical or surgical castration, which would damage their healthy bodies through surgeries and may cause infertility and a life-long dependence on cross-sex hormones.

Children have the right to be protected from hypersexualization (including drag shows and explicit materials) in schools and libraries.
Strongly Agree
Texas teachers follow the state’s TEKS standards to ensure all classroom and library materials are age-appropriate. Texas law protects children from sexually explicit content and also gives parents the right to review materials and opt their children in or out of certain programs or content. Parents can contact their school district or the Texas Education Agency with questions or concerns about specific events or policies. Public Libraries are not governed by school districts.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman essential to the formation and sustaining of a civil and prosperous society.

Parents have the fundamental right to raise their child in accordance with their beliefs and values, including the right to make decisions about the child's education and healthcare.
Strongly Agree
Guidelines can be developed to ensure the safety of all students, while parents retain the right to choose the educational setting that best meets their child’s needs—whether public, charter, parochial, or home school. Any school receiving public funding should be held to the same standards, including state testing and accountability measures, to ensure quality and equity for all students. This approach balances student safety, parental choice, and consistent educational expectations.
Parents should have full and timely access to any and all records, including school and medical records, associated with their minor children.
Strongly Agree

EQUALITY
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports.

Schools should provide all students with equal opportunities to participate in athletics by offering co-ed teams alongside traditional gender-specific teams, ensuring both inclusivity and competitive integrity.
Biological males should not be allowed to occupy women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, women's shelters, prisons, or sororities.
Choose not to answer
Schools can ensure safety, privacy, and inclusion for all students by providing private or single-stall facilities, clear anti-harassment policies, staff training, and case-by-case accommodations. This approach protects the privacy and comfort of all students while creating a safe learning environment.
