Teachers, like all professionals in public service, are expected to follow the mandated curriculum to ensure that all students receive a consistent education. The goal of our schools should be to ensure that students learn the required curriculum while respecting the individual rights of all involved.

Our founding fathers recognized free enterprise and the right to private property as fundamental rights under our Constitution. Our legal system supports free enterprise and these principles are the foundation for a productive economy.

While federal law does not consider education a fundamental right under the U.S. Constitution, North Carolina's Constitution requires the state to provide a "general and uniform system of free public schools". Therefore, the law requires government funding at the state level and I believe that we should continue to abide by our current laws and continue to fully fund K-12 education.

Schools should be focused on providing age-appropriate curriculum to our students and should not be focused on sexual grooming, drag shows, or graphic content.

Schools should be focused on educating students about the science of reproduction. Answering specific questions about sexual acts should remain between parents and their students in a home environment at the appropriate time.
