QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Neutral
Protecting life from conception to natural death involves complex issues — from maternal health to end-of-life care and the justice system. These decisions are shaped by personal circumstances, not a single viewpoint. I believe in policies that uphold human dignity, reduce suffering, and reflect compassion, context, and justice. This topic deserves thoughtful dialogue, not binary answers, and I’m committed to listening and leading with empathy.
What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?
Schools should play a supportive role when a student faces an unwanted or crisis pregnancy by providing access to counseling, mental health resources, and trusted adults who can guide them through next steps. While I respect and value parental authority, I also recognize that students — especially older minors — have legal rights in Virginia, and we must ensure their safety, privacy, and emotional well-being. The goal is not to replace the role of families but to ensure no student feels isolated or unsupported during a vulnerable time.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Agree
What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
I support strong public funding for education from Pre-K through college. Compared to other countries, we’re falling behind, and it impacts our global competitiveness. Education is our greatest economic resource — it builds a skilled workforce and reduces outsourcing. While private school is a valid choice for some families, public education must remain a strong, well-funded option for all, regardless of income or ZIP code.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Teachers should be required to instruct students on mandated curriculum even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Agree
In Virginia, curriculum is set at the state level, not by local boards. Public schools must follow that curriculum while serving a diverse community. I believe teachers should have room to engage students creatively, but public education also has a duty to ensure all students receive consistent, inclusive instruction. Balancing professionalism with personal belief is complex, but public roles come with public responsibility.
EDUCATION
Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Neutral
This is a complex issue involving student age, legal rights, and parental involvement. Schools must prioritize student well-being, follow the law, and respect diverse community values. Outside providers should not serve as default resources in schools, but students in crisis may need access to trusted information and care. Any approach should be thoughtful, age-appropriate, and transparent to families and the community.
Consistent discipline creates a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.
Agree
Consistent discipline is important for a safe learning environment, but it must be fair, age-appropriate, and based on context. I’ve seen discipline misapplied, and I believe students need clear expectations and dependable outcomes. Discipline should guide, not just punish. Talking in class isn’t the same as fighting, and our approach must reflect that. There’s no one-size-fits-all answer — just a need for balance and care.
Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.
