QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Whatever the woman and her doctor and support network decide.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Agree

This is a decision that should be honored by living wills.

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Review and revise itemized deductions used by the upper financial class. Their total % of taxes should match the middle financial class. Create a tax on off-shore accounts. Lower the rate for job related expenses.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Department of Defense.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Agree

Graduates should not be paying back the various loans they incur to attend college for decades. The money used by the government to pay tuition cost is an investment in the future. Instead of paying back loans, graduates could use that money to pay for housing, family expenses for example.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Agree

Unless the business is a religious base business example-Jewish Deli, Christian bookstore and is a public serving business, they need to keep their beliefs at home while working.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

When religions promote fear, hatred and discrimination of those who have different religious beliefs, they need to be closed. History has proven time and time again that religion and politics are strange bedfellows with disastrous results.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

A and B. I've been a long proponent of universal healthcare

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

This country has had required vaccinations for a long time. They create "herd immunity", minimize the spread of contagious diseases, and protects those who can not have vaccinations.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

Educate the public about the Islamic lifestyle using public announcements, political discussions printed or relayed through social media and setting an example by insisting that politicians telling the truth.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Strongly Agree

This is a sticky, complicated situation but not impossible.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Neutral

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Asylum seekers and those who want to immigrate. There are procedures in place for this. What is needed is more judges and interpreters who can speed up the process.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Disagree

Human rights should be our value system.

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Agree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Honesty is my primary value followed by respect, dignity and acceptance of those I may not agree with.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Agree

There are other means of identity such as signatures. Voters could be asked to produce a recognized document with their signature and asked to write their name on a designated voter form. This may help prevent voter fraud which is minimal as it is.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Once a voter has had their voter registration approved, all states should allow mail in ballots, early voting, in person voting and also increase polling sites.

EQUALITY

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

CRT is bogus.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Always has been and will continue to be unless it's controlled.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Agree

This would be a long difficult process but not impossible task, but it would help eradicate racial disadvantages.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

B

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Disagree

There are enough proven alternatives to produce energy. The problem is cost.

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

Up hold voter approved laws. The problem is voters are not always told the truth.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Liberal

I consider myself to be a liberal conservative. I consider my taxes to be an investment and want clarity on how they are being used.

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

I have recently submitted completed questionnaire to local news publications-The Advocate in Rockbridge county and the Alleghany Journal.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

My primary issue is health care both physical and mental that is affordable, available and assessable.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Neutral

Depends on the policy not necessarily the conduct.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

I support additional funds for mental health and community programs.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

there is no reason for the public to own military style guns. There should be safety testing before permits are allowed. There should not be open carry permits. Shooting is a sport and also needed for protection for one's personal property and business.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
