QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Choose not to answer

While this is an important issue, it is not the roll of City Government to weigh in on it.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Choose not to answer

While this is an important issue, it is not the roll of City Government to weigh in on it.

ECONOMY

I support using taxpayer funds to lobby the state legislature and/or U.S. Congress.

Neutral

I am not a fan of this; however, I recognize that that this is how the current system works and is sometimes a necessary evil to accomplish a broader goal to improve the lives of citizens.

It is the responsibility of city government to provide subsidized housing at taxpayer expense.

Neutral

Affordable housing at any financial level is important to the health and well-being of a community and its citizens. While I do agree that subsidized housing is a necessary component of affordable housing, I'm not sold on the idea that it should be city government funded.

Property taxes should be abolished.

Neutral

As much as I would love to strongly agree with this, some property taxes are necessary evils to afford critical public services such and roads and public safety. -However- I COMPLETELY agree that they are out of control and need to be drastically reigned in.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Government should not discriminate against individuals, organizations, or business owners who affirm marriage as between one man and one woman.

Agree

Government should not discriminate against businesses supporting same sex marriage ether.

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Agree

IMMIGRATION

City officials should have the right to proclaim their city a sanctuary city for illegal aliens.

Disagree

Cities don't have the right to violate State or Federal law whether a leader agrees with it or not.

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I'm an active member of the First United Methodist Church and have been a Methodist most of my life. My faith teaches me a lot about service to other people and one's own community. I do also understand that faith isn't for everyone and that personal choice must be respected.

Children have the right to be protected from sexually explicit materials in publicly funded libraries, including school libraries.

Agree

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Choose not to answer

While this is an important issue, it is not the roll of City Government to weigh in on it.

All filings by candidates for municipal office, including ballot application and campaign finance reports, should be available for public online access on the city website within 24 hours of filing deadline.

Neutral

I'm not opposed to this outside of people getting doxed for exerting their political rights.

Ballot measures which include bond issues should fully disclose both the potential tax rate increase and actual monetary increase for the average single family residence.

Agree

EQUALITY

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Neutral

While this is an important issue, it is not the roll of City Government to weigh in on it.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) instruction should be required for all city employees.

Disagree

Discrimination of ANY kind is wrong. Sadly, rather than elevate minorities, it has served only to beat down the majority.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Taxpayers should subsidize green initiatives such as electric vehicle charging stations.

Disagree

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

Outside of public safety. Government exists to handle the things the private and non-profit sectors can't or won't do.
