QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Strongly Agree

However, I do believe there are special circumstances including life of the mother, rape and incest that deserve special consideration.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

ECONOMY

I support using taxpayer funds to lobby the state legislature and/or U.S. Congress.

Disagree

I believe that funds should be utilized solely to inform the state legislature about the challenges and issues that cities are facing, and not to advance the individual political agendas of each municipality.

It is the responsibility of city government to provide subsidized housing at taxpayer expense.

Strongly Disagree

Property taxes should be abolished.

Agree

Property taxes have evolved into something beyond their original purpose. Many cities and counties are collecting more revenue than is reasonable, placing an undue burden on homeowners. As a result, individuals, particularly those on fixed incomes, are increasingly at risk of losing their homes due to rising property tax costs.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Government should not discriminate against individuals, organizations, or business owners who affirm marriage as between one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

We live in a country where individuals have the fundamental right to hold and express their own beliefs. It is not the role of the government to dictate or compel what people must believe.

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

Religious freedom, as protected by the First Amendment, is a fundamental pillar of our country's foundation. It must be safeguarded.

IMMIGRATION

City officials should have the right to proclaim their city a sanctuary city for illegal aliens.

Strongly Disagree

It is important to uphold immigration laws consistently; individuals residing in the United States without legal authorization should not be permitted to remain.

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a lifelong follower of the Christian faith. My faith shapes how I live and what I believe.

Children have the right to be protected from sexually explicit materials in publicly funded libraries, including school libraries.

Strongly Agree

Children should never be sexualized. As someone who has survived sexual abuse, this issue is deeply personal and important to me.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I believe requiring an ID to vote is a good idea because it's one important way to help keep our elections honest and fair.

All filings by candidates for municipal office, including ballot application and campaign finance reports, should be available for public online access on the city website within 24 hours of filing deadline.

Strongly Agree

Ballot measures which include bond issues should fully disclose both the potential tax rate increase and actual monetary increase for the average single family residence.

Strongly Agree

EQUALITY

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) instruction should be required for all city employees.

Strongly Disagree

Efforts to combat discrimination should focus on providing equal treatment to everyone. Approaches that involve preferential treatment based on group identity can inadvertently lead to reverse discrimination, which undermines the principle of fairness.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Taxpayers should subsidize green initiatives such as electric vehicle charging stations.

Strongly Disagree

The marketplace, driven by consumer choice, should play the primary role in deciding the popularity of green initiatives.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

The general purpose of the city government is to provide essential public services that ensure the safety, wellbeing, and quality of life of its citizens. This includes services such as police protection, fire response, emergency medical services (EMS), and the development and maintenance of infrastructure.

Candidates and officeholders should be required to disclose all business investments and real estate, whether in the city or in an area currently proposed for annexation.

Strongly Agree

Please list your business investments and/or real estate, whether within the city or in an area currently proposed for annexation.

none

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to immigration and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

My guiding principle is to place freedom at the forefront of every decision. I am committed to supporting the personal and economic freedoms that empower individuals to lead their lives independently.

I voted in these primaries and general elections:

2014 General Election 2016 General Election 2018 General Election 2020 General Election 2022 General Election

I do not identify with either the Republican or Democratic parties. However, I am a dedicated voter and never miss the opportunity to participate in elections.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I am an advocate for the Second Amendment and believe that individuals have the fundamental right to self-defense. Responsible gun ownership by law-abiding citizens plays an important role in maintaining the safety and freedom of our community.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Agree

Initially, I was opposed to the legalization of Marijuana. However, after thoroughly educating myself on the subject, I have revised my position. I now believe that marijuana should be legalized and regulated through taxation. Numerous states have already taken this step, and the economic benefits particularly from hemp derived products are significant. The potential positive impact on the economy is substantial. Also, many people can benefit medicinally from cannabis.

LOCAL

I support annual financial audits of every city department by an independent, third party auditor.

Strongly Agree

Please list up to three issues or projects that you think need the most attention.

The three issues I believe warrant the most immediate attention are property taxes, the city's outstanding dept and the sale of the city owned hotel.
