QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

As human life begins at conception, it deserves the same constitutional protection from that moment until natural death. No law states that protection only begins after birth. Science confirms life begins at conception, and our laws should reflect that biological reality.

What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?

An unwanted pregnancy is a life-changing event, and parents, NOT a school district, should guide their child through it. Families, not government, are best equipped to provide the love, values, and support a student needs. Schools can offer resources to the family, but they should never replace or exclude parents in such deeply personal decisions. Schools cannot and should not impose one-size-fits-all solutions on something so deeply personal. At the end of the day, strengthening families by upholding parental rights is better for both the student and society.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Free enterprise and private property rights are the backbone of a productive economy. When individuals are free to own, build, and innovate, they create jobs, drive competition, and generate prosperity. History shows that government-controlled economies stagnate, while free markets unleash human potential. Protecting private property isn’t just an economic principle; it’s a safeguard of liberty itself.

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

Educational funding comes from taxpayers and is funnelled through the government; parents should have the freedom to decide where that money goes. School choice protects families’ liberty to raise and educate their children according to their own values, not a third-party agenda.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Teachers should be required to instruct students on mandated curriculum even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Agree

Public education exists to serve the interests of students, not the personal convictions of teachers. When a teacher accepts a position in a public school, they undertake a duty to deliver the curriculum in full. Allowing individual teachers to pick and choose what to teach based on personal beliefs undermines consistency, equality, and the rule of law. The curriculum reflects established standards, and every student deserves access to the same complete education, regardless of who is teaching.

EDUCATION

Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Strongly Disagree

Public schools are for education, not for advancing medical or political agendas. Gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, belong in the healthcare sphere, NOT in classrooms where children should be learning math, science, and history without outside groups pushing ideology. As stated previously here, abortion is a life-changing event, and parents, not a school district, should guide their child through it. Upholding parental rights is better for both the student and society.

Consistent discipline creates a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.

Strongly Agree

This is a complete sentence. :-)

Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.

Agree

Educators have a duty to ground students in America’s founding documents because they are the blueprint of our freedoms and rights. Teaching them thoroughly and with respect for American patriotism equips students with the core knowledge to be informed citizens who understand, value, and protect the very principles that sustain our democracy.

I support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).

Strongly Disagree

DEI often sounds good in theory, but in practice it undermines meritocracy while forcing ideological conformity based on the same criteria it's engineered to counter. Instead of fostering fairness, it risks replacing one form of discrimination with another while offering little real improvement. True equality comes from treating people as individuals not identities.

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Agree

The Constitution doesn’t mention education, so under the 10th Amendment it belongs to the states. The Founders intended schooling decisions to stay local, where citizens shape their children’s future. State control fosters innovation, reflects local needs, and gives parents a true voice.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning

Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, American History, Art & Music, Physical Fitness, Vocational Learning, Civics, Personal Finances, Foreign Language, Information Technology, Political Activism.

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child instead of the bureaucracy, through a program which allows parents the freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Agree

Which should students have: equity of outcomes or equality of opportunities?

Equality of opportunity ensures everyone starts with the same chance to succeed, while equity of outcome forces the finish line to be the same for all regardless of effort, talent, or choice. Opportunity rewards hard work and innovation; outcome erases fairness and limits achievement.

Which type of written parental consent should be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE)? (A) Opt-In. (B) Opt-Out. (C) None.

What grade level? Define 'comprehensive' Are controversial topics included and explained beforehand?

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I was born and raised Roman Catholic. I endeavor to live out the virtues of justice, charity, morality, and respect for human dignity at every stage of life.

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

A touchy subject for sure. There's not a one-size-fits-all solution, so here's a quick high-level breakdown that is, of course, subject to the child's maturity and development level. Sexual education should begin at home, where parents, our children’s first and most influential teachers, set the moral and personal foundation. Schools can then serve as partners, reinforcing those values in a supportive role. Parents who feel uneasy discussing these topics, but are comfortable with the school’s approach, should have the freedom to delegate that responsibility or to opt out entirely. The choice belongs to families, not institutions. ************* Early Childhood (pre-puberty): Basic lessons on body parts, safety, respect, and boundaries. No sexual details. Puberty (10–13): Age-appropriate education on biological changes, reproduction, and health. Teen Years (14+): More detailed discussions about relationships, responsibility, and consequences, with continued emphasis on virtue, respect, and personal responsibility.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- abortion methods and side effects; abstinence; consent; contraceptive methods; human anatomy/the reproductive system; physical and emotional health outcomes; sex acts and pleasures of sex; sexual orientation and gender identity; stages of pregnancy and fetal development

In School- human anatomy and reproductive system, abstinence & consent, contraceptive methods, stages of pregnancy and fetal development ******** At home w/ parents- Everything above plus: physical and emotional health outcomes, abortion methods and side effects, sex acts and pleasures of sex - when/if deemed appropriate, sexual orientation and gender identity - when/if deemed appropriate by parent or the child brings it up.

Children have a right to reach maturity without chemical or surgical castration, which would damage their healthy bodies through surgeries and may cause a life-long dependence on cross-sex hormones.

Strongly Agree

Children have the right to be protected from sexual grooming (including drag shows and explicit materials) in schools and libraries.

Strongly Agree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman essential to the formation and sustaining of a civil and prosperous society.

Choose not to answer

As a school board director I don't see this as being in scope for anything relating to school age children

Parents have the fundamental right to raise their child in accordance with their beliefs and values, including the right to make decisions about the child's education and healthcare.

Strongly Agree

It's heartbreaking that this is even a question.

Parents should have full and timely access to any and all records, including school and medical records, associated with their minor children.

Strongly Agree

Yes, 100% Again, It's heartbreaking that this is even a question.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

EQUALITY

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Choose not to answer

I believe there’s often more common ground than the labels or rigid stances we’re asked to choose from in this question. Life and policy aren’t one-size-fits-all, and meaningful solutions usually live in that middle space. At the core of my beliefs is personal liberty—the freedom for individuals to shape their own lives. But true liberty only thrives when it respects the equal freedom of others. That balance is what I stand for.

2ND AMENDMENT

Faculty who are licensed to carry and have had ongoing training should be allowed to carry guns at school in order to respond to an active shooter situation.

Disagree

Teachers should be free to focus on educating and protecting students in the classroom, not acting as tactical responders. The skills needed in an active shooter scenario belong to trained security professionals. A hardened facility, as well as individual classroom reinforcements with dedicated staff, is a stronger, safer solution than expecting teachers to carry that burden.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

In the event of a pandemic, school districts can mandate whatever health precautions they deem necessary (including masks and vaccines) to protect students and staff.

Strongly Disagree

Schools should play a role in health guidance, but pandemic response is too complex for scattered local mandates. Their focus should be on transparency, giving families choices when possible, and adopting policies that safeguard both public health and individual freedoms.
