QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Strongly Agree
I believe life begins at conception. God is about life.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I will oppose any funding to any organization performing abortions. As a conservative government official it is my job to protect the rights of businesses and individuals from government over reach into people and businesses lives. So, I will protect them from government infringing on their rights to live freely to live how they want to live, where they want to live, but simply to provide those essential services so we can have a better quality of life.
ECONOMY
I support using taxpayer funds to lobby the state legislature and/or U.S. Congress.
Disagree
I think it is my duty to develop relationships with the state legislature and congress without using taxpayers money in lobbying them for the interest of the people. In my view that is why I was elected to help make the quality of life better for the people.
It is the responsibility of city government to provide subsidized housing at taxpayer expense.
Disagree
I would see to provide programs to help those marginalized individuals with housing without using taxpayers money to subsidize them. I am a limited government person.
Property taxes should be abolished.
Strongly Agree
I strongly agree in part. I do not think we the people or businesses should be taxed, however, some taxation is necessary in order to provide strong essential services such as Police, Fire, and EMS.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Government should not discriminate against individuals, organizations, or business owners who affirm marriage as between one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
As clergy, I believe marriage is ordained by God and marriage is the first institution of government and it is between one Man and one Woman. I affirm that view.
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
As a University College Government Professor and Conservative. Conservativism as defined as Limited Government, Limited Taxation and Regulations on businesses and we the people. Therefore, protecting the rights of businesses and the people from government over reach and infringement of their rights and quality of life. So, I will protect those rights so help me God.
IMMIGRATION
City officials should have the right to proclaim their city a sanctuary city for illegal aliens.
Strongly Disagree
No one should be in this country or city illegally. I will oppose any such sanctuary status and will support ICE deportation of illegal immigrants subject to Federal law.
VALUES
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I simply believe in God and my faith is guided by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I was born into ministry due to being fourth generation of Pastors in my family. So, my beliefs and values will not change due to transient or political reasons. My faith in God is grounded.
Children have the right to be protected from sexually explicit materials in publicly funded libraries, including school libraries.
Strongly Agree
No, sexually explicit materials should be provided or displayed for children consumption in any place, as far as, I am concerned. We should protect our children from this evil.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Everyone should identify themselves just as we must to open a bank account to vote legally.
All filings by candidates for municipal office, including ballot application and campaign finance reports, should be available for public online access on the city website within 24 hours of filing deadline.
Agree
I agree in part, I agree with in a timely manner. 24 hours seems excessive when there are so many things people are doing to get those documents in. So, in a timely manner maybe 48 hours.
Ballot measures which include bond issues should fully disclose both the potential tax rate increase and actual monetary increase for the average single family residence.
Strongly Agree
It should be disclosed immediately.
EQUALITY
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
A man is a man and a woman is a woman and just because a man identifies as a woman. They do not have a right to compete in women's sports or use their bathrooms.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) instruction should be required for all city employees.
Strongly Disagree
We have those 1964 Civil Rights acts (EEOC, Title VII, and ADA, etc.) covers that and we do not need DEI for that purpose.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Taxpayers should subsidize green initiatives such as electric vehicle charging stations.
Strongly Disagree
Let the free market deal with that issue, not with government subsidies.
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
Never
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
Never, I have always been on the right side of the law as a law man for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Parole. Retired Trainer Auditor over the DFW Region (First Black Man).
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
To provide those essential services that the constitution or in this case for the city council charter provides (Police, Fire, and EMS).
Candidates and officeholders should be required to disclose all business investments and real estate, whether in the city or in an area currently proposed for annexation.
Strongly Agree
Transparency is important to prevent the appearance of a conflict of interest.
Please list your business investments and/or real estate, whether within the city or in an area currently proposed for annexation.
None
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to immigration and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
I am a Conservative and live by those views and in my decision making.
I voted in these primaries and general elections:
2014 Republican Primary 2014 General Election 2016 Republican Primary 2016 General Election 2018 Republican Primary 2018 General Election 2020 Republican Primary 2020 General Election 2022 Republican Primary 2022 General Election
I once was a strong "D" due to my culture, but has always been a Conservative. Because of my culture before being educated we were raised to affiliate with the Democrat party without the understanding that our Conservative Ideology trumps political party.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.
Strongly Disagree
That is an essential service and it must be funded. There are other ways to fund community programs without sacrificing essential services like that of the Police and Fire.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
None, I am a licensed to carry citizen.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Disagree
It destroys the mind, body, and spirit.
LOCAL
I support annual financial audits of every city department by an independent, third party auditor.
Strongly Agree
Transparency is important. Open the books and you will find the crook is my motto.
Please list up to three issues or projects that you think need the most attention.
Cutting the tax rate below Dallas to assist young people to afford a home, giving seniors homestead tax exemption, while maintaining those essential services like Police, Fire, and EMS by decreasing crime to attract businesses to broaden the tax base providing the people and business the quality of life they deserve.
