QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

An elective abortion should be a decision that is made between a medical provider and the mother/parents of the fetus. Although, it is my belief that elective abortions should not take place during the third trimester, this would not include medically necessary abortions.

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Agree

It is imperative that the substances being offered to our citizens are proven safe, and if while on the market they shows signs of harm or adverse reactions, there should be an avenue where they can be reported so people are aware of the possible effects. However, patients should not be forced or required to disclose any information they do not wish to provide.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Disagree

Planned Parenthood and other similar clinics provide vital medical services aside from abortions including regular health screenings, communicable and non-communicable disease screening & treatments for both sexually and non-sexually transmitted diseases/ infections, etc. In many cases, these services are being provided to communities that otherwise would not have access or the ability to afford this type of care.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Agree

I believe that it is an individual's right to determine when it their time. Especially when dealing with insufferable ailments that are detrimental to quality of life, this option can be the most dignified and humane for a person to choose.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Agree

An economy where we can incentivize new/additional private businesses and create a more competitive market will move the prices of consumer goods and services to a more affordable price and allow consumers to have more financial freedom overall. Right to private property is inherent in both our U.S. and State Constitutions and is the foundation of every other liberty in a free society.

What is your position on the minimum wage?

Rather than raising the minimum wage substantially to (over)compensate for the wage disparity in society, we should modestly raise the minimum wage and provide more opportunities for career & skill development so individuals can earn higher wages.

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

Yes

Yes. When looking to invest public money, our government needs to be doing so in a way that aligns with the best interests of the citizens and be economically intelligent. ESG ratings, as long as there are done properly (objective, data backed), are a good starting point when looking where to invest public funds - this will showcase how that entity holds its relationships with workers, consumers, and neighbors; respects the environment, and adheres to government laws and regulations.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Government should only be allowed the privilege to close a church if they find that they are in severe violation of the law, or it is being used as a platform to commit crime(s) against others or encourage committing crime(s) against others.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Disagree

A private business should be able to refuse service to those they do not wish to provide service, so long as it does not violate any other law/regulation. This does not excuse or void that business (or owner/workers) from the societal repercussions that could follow from backlash that may occur.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

C - Medicaid & Medicare should remain available with no other taxpayer funded programs. However, the eligibility requirements need to be adjusted to reflect the need of society as a whole. Income, family size, age, disability, etc. are all qualifiers that need to be re-evaluated to make it an easier process for individuals and families in need. Additionally, actions need to be taken in regard to private healthcare providing an acceptable standard of service to their clients.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Government should never be permitted to require a vaccine except in public schools; only when a vaccine is determined safe and necessary for overall health & safety of the student body. Private employers should have the right to decide their policy.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Agree

With China being one of our largest competitors, we need to ensure security & stability in our communications, data infrastructure, and awareness. I believe Pennsylvania can be a focal point for developing new technologies in cyber-security and the protection of intellectual property. Also, increasing career & skill development opportunities can help safeguard from global economic threats that would cause us to rely on other countries, like China, for products/services.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

As the relationship between The United States & Israel is mutually beneficial, I believe it is important, but we are putting too many resources into the relationship. A good relationship with Israel provides us with a stronghold in the Middle East Region for military & intelligence that aids in protecting from and preventing conflicts and attacks against the American people. However, sending billions of dollars annually to a foreign country causes concern when major issues exist domestically.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Neutral

Significant steps have been taken to secure the border, which is important when accounting for the amount of illegal substances/firearms being transported both ways. The illegal market that exists between the borders empowers the various organized crime groups to continue escalating their crimes & endangering communities physically, socially, and economically. Actions should be taken to focus on securing these issues as this is the significant threat, not necessarily or specifically immigrants.

EDUCATION

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Agree

This idea allows for an accountable education that the parent feels best suits the needs of their child or children while also providing the resources to the education method that is chosen, basically funding the schooling method based on student population. With allocating the already associated funds to the child with the program they are enrolled in, this would also allow for a more equatable education regardless of the school district, neighborhood, or geographic location that they live in.

VALUES

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Agree

Without dismissing or discrediting individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+, children should not be subject to actions that have lifelong impacts to their overall physical & mental health. Conversations regarding sexual/gender identity & ideology should happen between the family &/or a healthcare provider. Preventing life altering procedures & treatment to children should be government's only concern in the matter. Should a consenting adult wish to undergo such procedures, that is their prerogative.

Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.

Strongly Agree

Parents should not have to be subject to government or any other entity making decisions on behalf of their children unless it has been determined that the parents are not capable of being a responsible caretaker or they have delegated that right. Additionally, a minor child is still going through brain development and may not have the decision making skills necessary to make an informed and safe decision on their behalf.

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Disagree

It is my belief that taxpayer funds should not go towards elective procedures.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Disagree

I believe in strong separation of church and state. If a government is going to see marriage as a legal union, this should be looked at regardless of religious beliefs. It is not in the best interest of society to force a specific religious belief or practice on individuals who do not share in the same religious philosophy or belief. In the same manner that clergy should not be compelled to perform a marriage ceremony that is against their religious belief or philosophy.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian who believes in loving thy neighbor regardless of religion, race, status, faith, or creed. I believe that everyone was put here for a purpose and that is to serve one another as a community. I value a sense of community, family, and individualism, that through being our best selves we elevate everyone and everything around us.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Neutral

I believe the security of our elections is imperative to the security of our nation. We need to ensure that those exercising their constitutional right to vote are legally able to do so. Current circumstances can make it difficult for some community members to obtain photo identification, but if we enable that process to be more accessible then yes, we should require photo identification to ensure the security and integrity of elections in America.

States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.

Disagree

This Compact would allocate a states entire amount of electoral votes to the candidate with the popular vote in the state fundamentally voiding the votes of those who cast a ballot for a different candidate. However, splitting the electoral votes based on the popular vote in congressional districts would give the other voters an equal voice at the polls.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Yes, hate & fighting amongst ourselves in any fashion is a threat to domestic security in the U.S. Rather than being hateful, accusatory, or even violent, we should be working together as a community to lift each other up and make society better for everyone.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Neutral

I believe CRT could be better handled from perspective of improvement. Rather than only showing how institutions are or can be a disservice to certain groups or faulting a group for actions of a few, we should be analyzing this theory to find solutions on how these institutions can better serve the entire community.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Neutral

Private leagues, facilities, organizations, etc. should be able to provide their own policy regarding these circumstances. In the government setting, the gender that is recognized by law should dictate the policies and procedures that are followed.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.

Although somewhat contradictory, both A & D. Climate change is certainly real as seen through increased number of larger scale natural disasters and needs addressed. However, stricter laws & regulations are extremely costly and are at the expense of jobs & the economy. I believe through additional access to renewable energy for homes and new innovation in environmental conservation and restoration, we can find a balanced solution with all best interests accounted for.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

I believe solar energy is going to continue to improve and become more efficient, affordable & accessible. Not only is this a great low-pollution solution, solar energy infrastructure can provide a layer of self reliance & bring down utility costs.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

The sole purpose of government is to serve the people, whom they represent. The United States Constitution empowers "We The People" as the electors of our leadership to represent what we think the government should do and be. Outside of protection from foreign adversaries and instilling law & order, the government should always be working on behalf of their constituents and their views of how the government should take action.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Moderate

To label oneself strictly as one or the other I believe lacks a perspective of the other side of an issue. I have learned from, worked with, and served an extremely diverse population of individuals that have all given me a new perspective on an issue that I may not have considered. To find solutions so that government can better serve their people should be the priority not what someone's personal beliefs or affiliations are.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Neutral

I believe equipping police with the appropriate knowledge and tools along with empowering community programs is the way to correct the path of the criminal justice system. There are many cases where an individual going through a period of crisis should not have to enter the criminal justice system, but redirecting policing funds could be detrimental to overall public safety. There needs to be a cohesive and comprehensive solution from a police and community perspective.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Firearm ownership should be subject to a comprehensive background check that should be done regularly during the duration a person owns a firearm. The background check should include criminal history, relevant mental health history, references, etc. to verify that they do not pose a threat. However, I believe the gun violence issue should be taken from a mental health perspective focusing on accessibility to mental health treatment in turn reducing violent crime rates as a whole.

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

No

Teachers should be focused on ensuring an open learning environment for the students. Allowing teachers to carry firearms would take away from attention to education from both the teacher & student perspective. I am not opposed to schools having armed security guards (personally I believe it should be concealed) but educators and students should be focused on teaching & learning, not a firearm in the classroom.
