OTHER INFORMATION
QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Choose not to answer
I believe in a world where no one wants to have an abortion except for medical necessity so it is no longer an issue
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Disagree
This is a personal decision and some people need financial assistance
ECONOMY
I support using taxpayer funds to lobby the state legislature and/or U.S. Congress.
Agree
It is the responsibility of city government to provide subsidized housing at taxpayer expense.
Agree
Property taxes should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
There is already no state income tax in Texas and the government needs to obtain funding from somewhere for just basic operations for community necessities
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Government should not discriminate against individuals, organizations, or business owners who affirm marriage as between one man and one woman.
Choose not to answer
I need more details to answer this question
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Agree
IMMIGRATION
City officials should have the right to proclaim their city a sanctuary city for illegal aliens.
Choose not to answer
I need to research this issue further before answering
VALUES
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in a spiritual experience that includes moral teachings, music, and meditative/self-care activities. I believe in spirituality that is inclusive of everybody.
Children have the right to be protected from sexually explicit materials in publicly funded libraries, including school libraries.
Strongly Agree
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
All filings by candidates for municipal office, including ballot application and campaign finance reports, should be available for public online access on the city website within 24 hours of filing deadline.
Agree
Ballot measures which include bond issues should fully disclose both the potential tax rate increase and actual monetary increase for the average single family residence.
Agree
EQUALITY
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Choose not to answer
I do not understand what is meant by "biological males". Once someone transitions, they are now a different gender. Maybe there should be a separate category for transgendered individuals to compete in. As far as sharing facilities, this should only be allowed after the transition is complete.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) instruction should be required for all city employees.
Strongly Agree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Taxpayers should subsidize green initiatives such as electric vehicle charging stations.
Strongly Agree
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
I think citizens should practice self-regulation: (1) safety first, (2) self-care, and (3) looking out for each other and holding each other accountable. Then, there are few issues that need government intervention. Consequently, government officials can spend their time on planning and improvement instead of putting out fires.
Candidates and officeholders should be required to disclose all business investments and real estate, whether in the city or in an area currently proposed for annexation.
Agree
Please list your business investments and/or real estate, whether within the city or in an area currently proposed for annexation.
None
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to immigration and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Choose not to answer
I consider myself independent. I think people need to do a better job taking care of themselves and each other so there is not so much need for government assistance. This belief does not allow me to classify myself within any party.
I voted in these primaries and general elections:
2014 General Election 2016 General Election 2018 General Election 2020 General Election 2022 General Election
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.
Choose not to answer
As long as the community is safe and crime is low, then I would support this. But, until crime is reduced, police need tools to keep communities safe.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
It should be hard for anyone to get a firearm and ammunition. There should be an anonymous tip line for anyone suspecting someone of loading up on guns and ammunitions.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Agree
LOCAL
I support annual financial audits of every city department by an independent, third party auditor.
Strongly Agree
Please list up to three issues or projects that you think need the most attention.
(1) I think there needs to be education and training on self-regulation: (a) safety first, (b) self-care, and (c) look out for each other and hold each other accountable. (3) I believe there needs to be improvement within the city council of soliciting citizen input, such as combining city council meetings and public comment meetings and advising citizens on how to effectively speak at meetings. (3) I feel that crime prevention efforts need to be enhanced, including expansion of mental health resources.
