QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

The belief that human life begins at conception and deserves protection. It is a deeply held personal perspective rooted in my belief that the inherent value of human life is at the moment of conception and we have a moral obligation to protect vulnerable individuals at every stage.

What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?

When a student faces an unwanted or crisis pregnancy, the school plays a crucial role in offering support, guidance, and resources. While the specific response will vary depending on the student's needs, the school's policies, and local laws. Some key roles can include providing a safe environment for the student to feel comfortable discussing the situation, offering counseling, helping the student access to healthcare/resources and academic accommodations. However, the most important step is if it is appropriate and safe, the student's parents/guardians involvement is critical. It is important for their involvement to make decisions that will be in the best interest of the student and baby.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Teachers should be required to instruct students on mandated curriculum even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

I disagree. While it is essential to ensure that students receive a comprehensive and unbiased education, educators should be allowed the freedom to practice their beliefs without facing ethical dilemmas in the workplace. It is important that teachers be provided the ability to address controversial topics in a way that respects both their professional responsibilities and personal convictions.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

Every community is different. Urban, rural, and suburban all have distinct challenges and needs when it comes to education. Local control allows communities to tailor their education systems to best serve the unique population they are supporting. Local control allows communities to shape education systems that are more responsive to their needs, values, and priorities. By decentralizing decision-making and emphasizing local input, schools can create a more effective learning environment.

EDUCATION

Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Strongly Disagree

These topics are deeply personal and involve moral and ethical considerations. These matters should be addressed within the family and in consultation with healthcare providers rather than within the schools. Schools should focus on providing the academic education and fostering a safe and supporting environment for students to learn. Parents hold the primary role in guiding their own children's understanding of sensitive topics.

Consistent discipline creates a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.

Strongly Agree

When students know what is expected of them and understand that there are clear consequences for their actions, it helps maintain structure and respect in the classroom and in school. This consistency not only minimizes distractions but also fosters an atmosphere where students can learn without disruptions. A well disciplined environment allows teachers to teach and for students to learn in a positive environment.

Do you believe print and digital material available or presented to students should be easily accessible for public review, including those without children enrolled in school?

Yes

I agree to the extent that this should be for parents with children in the schools. Transparency is key to fostering trust between the students and families. When parents can review all materials their children are exposed to, it ensures they are well-informed and can engage with their children's education. This will allow parents the ability to input and it ensures alignment with their family values and expectations.

Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.

Strongly Agree

It is key to teaching students key historical document and texts. It is essential for them to understand the principles and values that this nation was built upon. This knowledge will foster a sense of national pride and will encourage civic responsibility. Ultimately, the goal is to teach the students to understand the importance of preserving and upholding the freedoms that define America.

I support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).

Strongly Disagree

I understand how DEI can be considered important goals, but they can be taken too far and misrepresented. While it is important to ensure fairness and respect of all individuals, people have lost sight of the importance of merit, individual abilities and personal responsibility. I believe the focus should be on treating people as individuals, without placing too much emphasis on race, gender, or background, and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to succeed based on their own talents/efforts.

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Agree

I believe that local control allows for more tailored and effective solutions that better meet the specific needs of students in our own community. Local government is more in tune with their communities and can address more efficiently than a one-size-fits-all federal approach. Local control allows educational decisions that are more accountable and responsive to the needs of the community it serves.

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child instead of the bureaucracy, through a program which allows parents the freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Strongly Agree

This approach empowers parents with the freedom to choose the school that best meets their child's needs. By giving parents control over their child's education funding, it will promote greater competition among schools to encourage them to improve and innovate in order to attract students. Parents are a child's first educator and life long advocate. They should be the one to decide on what they feel is best for their children.

Which should students have: equity of outcomes or equality of opportunities?

Equality of opportunities in school is crucial because it ensures that every student, regardless of their background, has access to the same chances to succeed. When students are provided with equal opportunities, they are empowered to develop their skills and reach their full potential.

Which type of written parental consent should be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE)? (A) Opt-In. (B) Opt-Out. (C) None.

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

I believe teaching sexual education to children is a deeply personal decision that should be left to parents, in the home. Every family has its own values, beliefs, and priorities, and parents are in the best position to decide what is appropriate for their children in terms of age, content, and the manner in which it is presented. Sexual Education is not just about anatomy and biology; it also encompasses concepts of relationships and values which are influenced by cultural, religious and familial perspectives. Parents should have the right to make those decisions because they know their children best and will be the ones guiding them throughout their lives.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- abortion methods and side effects; abstinence; consent; contraceptive methods; human anatomy/the reproductive system; physical and emotional health outcomes; sex acts and pleasures of sex; sexual orientation and gender identity; stages of pregnancy and fetal development

Strongly Agree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman essential to the formation and sustaining of a civil and prosperous society.
