QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?
School counselors should always gain consent from parents before any advice is given. They could provide referrals to local community resources, such as the Tomball Pregnancy Center. Encouragement and flexibility for the student to continue their education and receive their diploma should be offered.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
The pride of private ownership, and the natural laws of supply and demand, will always produce more and provide a higher standard of living. Communism has been tried many times around the world and has always resulted in death and destruction. My own great-great grandparents had their farmland confiscated in Russia, before the Ukrainian Holodomor (starvation death of millions, at the hand of Stalin).
What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
Unfortunately, the injection of government (taxpayer) funding into universities has caused wasteful spending (and thus the cost to consumers) to skyrocket over the past couple of decades.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Teachers should be required to refer to students by pronouns which are misaligned with their gender at birth even if it would violate the teacher's moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Absolutely not. Katy ISD has recently adopted a formal policy that allows teachers to CHOOSE to use a student's preferred pronouns, only WITH parental knowledge and consent. However the teacher is not required to violate their own First Amendment rights by being compelled to address students in any manner inconsistent with their biological sex. I would like to see this policy adopted in Tomball ISD.
EDUCATION
Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Strongly Disagree
This would be a clear violation of Texas state law.
Consistent discipline creates a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.
Strongly Agree
This is a topic that desperately needs to be addressed at the state legislative level. Our teachers and administrators need their latitude restored to legally discipline or expel students for repeated violent or disruptive conduct.
Do you believe print and digital material available or presented to students should be easily accessible for public review, including those without children enrolled in school?
Yes
Parents, grandparents, retired teachers and all community members have the right to view the curriculum supported by their tax dollars.
Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.
Strongly Agree
This is the key to protecting our God-given, Constitutional rights as citizens, and a primary purpose of public education.
I support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
Disagree
This is just a repackaged/renamed Marxist concept, to view everything in our society through the lens of race or sexuality. The purpose is to divide us. I prefer rather to focus on what brings us all together in our community, such as being Americans, Texans and Tomball Cougars/Wildcats/Owls/Tigers (our school mascots).
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Agree
Education outcomes have only declined since this federal department was established. It was unconstitutional from the beginning.
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning
Language Arts, American History, Mathematics, Art & Music, Science, Civics, Information Technology, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Vocational Learning, Foreign Language. (Note: my response would vary between lower grades and middle/upper grades. For example I place high value on art & music for elementary students, whereas civics and information technology become more important in high school).
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child instead of the bureaucracy, through a program which allows parents the freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Neutral
My role as a school board member will be to make our local district excellent, efficient, safe and appealing to most families in our community. Education funding decisions will be made at the state legislature level, which I would have no control over. School districts should be realistic and proactive about this potential change, and consider offering more "choices" WITHIN the public schools, such as various magnet programs.
Which should students have: equity of outcomes or equality of opportunities?
Equality of opportunities
Which type of written parental consent should be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE)? (A) Opt-In. (B) Opt-Out. (C) None.
Opt-in
VALUES
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe that all people have sinned, that the wages of sin is death, and that Jesus Christ died and rose again in order to redeem us. The Bible is the inerrant word of God, and our primary source of knowing Him and discerning the world around us. My husband and I place very high value on being active contributors in our church and in our local community, in ways that help and encourage those around us!
Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?
This is a parents' responsibility, and a parents' decision as to the appropriate age. Every child is different. I do support offering (with parental opt-in) the teaching of biological functions of the reproductive system in the older elementary/intermediate grades at schools, but parents should be given full and EASY access to the material that will be covered, and boys and girls should be separated for these lessons.
If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- abortion methods and side effects; abstinence; consent; contraceptive methods; human anatomy/the reproductive system; physical and emotional health outcomes; sex acts and pleasures of sex; sexual orientation and gender identity; stages of pregnancy and fetal development
Human anatomy/the reproductive system is a valuable biology lesson for ages 10 & up. Stages of pregnancy and fetal development is a valuable biology lesson for high schoolers, in the context that all human life is valuable. For high schoolers, I support offering (with parental opt-in) lessons on the benefit of abstinence to students' physical, emotional, educational and eventual career outcomes. Along with contraceptive methods and their realistic failure rates in regards to pregnancy and STD's.
Children have a right to reach maturity without chemical or surgical castration, which would damage their healthy bodies through surgeries and may cause infertility and a life-long dependence on cross-sex hormones.
Strongly Agree
Children have the right to be protected from hypersexualization (including drag shows and explicit materials) in schools and libraries.
Strongly Agree
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman essential to the formation and sustaining of a civil and prosperous society.
Strongly Agree
Parents have the fundamental right to raise their child in accordance with their beliefs and values, including the right to make decisions about the child's education and healthcare.
Strongly Agree
Parents should have full and timely access to any and all records, including school and medical records, associated with their minor children.
Strongly Agree
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
EQUALITY
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports.
Strongly Agree
Biological males should not be allowed to occupy women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, women's shelters, prisons, or sororities.
Strongly Agree

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
I consider myself both socially and fiscally conservative. More specifically, I am a Constitutional conservative. I advocate for a smaller federal government, and more citizen engagement at the local/state level.
2ND AMENDMENT
Faculty who are licensed to carry and have had ongoing training should be allowed to carry guns at school in order to respond to an active shooter situation.
Agree
As a parent, I feel more secure in my children's safety when "the good guys" are armed. Unfortunately, although it had good intentions, the gun-free zones have left America's children & teachers as sitting ducks in deadly situations. I personally have family members who are teachers in other Texas public school districts who choose to conceal carry in order to protect themselves and their students. I am supportive of this, since ongoing special training and mental health evaluation is required.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
In the event of a pandemic, school districts can mandate whatever health precautions they deem necessary (including masks and vaccines) to protect students and staff.
Disagree
Texas public schools cannot require vaccines (per Texas Education Code). Evidence has not proven the benefit of universal masking for children, I would not support mandated masking in schools.
