QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

Abortions are a healthcare decision between a woman, her doctor, and G-d willing, the father. It should not be legislated nor voted on. It should be an issue for insurance companies as to whether it's covered, not government.

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Choose not to answer

You asked two questions with two different answers. Abortion drugs SHOULD meet essential safety standards. They should NOT require reporting as it is NOT the government's business.

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

That is a healthcare decision and should not be legislated. I abhor the idea of abortions. But, you don't attack the symptom (abortions). You attack the problem. Our society makes abortion not only a viable option, but an attractive one. Just look at how often it's used. We need to HEAL America, not give government more power.

Does the federal government have a role to play in limiting abortion, and if so what federal steps and/or federal legislation would you support?

Should the federal government? Stop right there, the answer is NO. The federal government should adhere to the things it was granted power over in the CONSTITUTION. US Constitution, Amendment X: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

ECONOMY

What actions would you take that would allow Americans to retain more of their income and wealth?

Shrink the federal government (Sunset 3-letter agencies). End the Federal Reserve. Term Limits for Congress. Campaign Finance Reform. BRAC (military installation closures). We add $1T to national debt every ~110 days. We can't afford it.

Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.

Strongly Agree

It does shift the burden to the taxpayer. But, the fault is GOVERNMENT. College used to be cheap enough you could work at Six Flags for the summer, pay room, board, books, and tuition. Now you have to go into debt. When the federal government said they'd guarantee student loans, tuition and administration skyrocketed...Get government out of every aspect of our lives. They are inefficient.

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

Choose not to answer

Ratings? Maybe, not ratings. That sounds like a bunch of government red tape (and bureaucrats) to get through. However, environmental, social, and governance consequences of public money investment should be studied.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

The US Constitution was an experiment in limiting government power over the individual. I am a Christian. I try to make decisions (and I fail all the time) in line with Christ's teachings. My job as a Christian is to serve others. My job as Senator is to use government to protect individuals and the environment while furthering our national interests. Separation of church and state means I know not to fall into authoritarian compassion where I force you to pay for wherever my sympathies lie.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

I don't want to eat at a table where the food wasn't prepared with LOVE. I believe in voluntary associations. If you don't want to serve others at YOUR business that YOU built with sweat and blood, government shouldn't make you. And, if you choose to turn away my money because you hate the color of my skin. I have to accept that. But, I'll make sure to tell others.

HEALTHCARE

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Employers can mandate whatever they want. It's their business. An employee can leave. Governments should not mandate vaccinations. Child vaccinations are parental, not school, decisions

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

That takes more than 500 characters. When the gov't wants healthcare, they use socialized medicine (TRICARE, Single Payers, etc). We pay over twice PER CAPITA what the next most expensive country pays for healthcare and it's still a top cause for bankruptcy in this nation. Without gov't interference (banking, big pharma, insurance), things would be LESS EXPENSIVE. From the list of options, I choose D. Kill it all. When my aunt was young, clinics were corner stores, and doctors did house calls.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

The Constitution says we must maintain a Navy, and we can raise an Army, but appropriations can't be for more than two years. We have 750 bases in 80 countries and a deployed presence to 80 more! We are not defenders. We are invaders. And, it's all for MONEY. C, We're too involved. Harmonize the DIME (Instruments of national power-Diplomatic, Information, Military, Economic). Our military lever of power should shorten and our Diplomatic arm should grow. We're on one planet, we're involved.

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Neutral

The more technologically advanced we get, the more a kid with a cell poses a cyber threat. The Chinese are a near peer competitor militarily, a competitor economically. But, our economies are intertwined. They don't want war with us. And, I'm against the wars we have, I don't want another. Everyone that COULD be a threat, IS a threat. But, am I worried about imminent attacks? Cyber: Yes Military: No Intellectual property: Always, if you believe in it Economically: Not if we stop selling arms.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Israelis are wonderful people. Palestinians are wonderful people. The Israel government is committing atrocities on an occupied people. Hamas is a government AND a terrorist organization doing horrible things. Governments go to war. PEOPLE suffer. Stop the suffering of the people. Free Palestine. His name was Aaron Bushnell

What are the causes of decline in U.S. military recruitment and retention?

3/4 Youth in America don't QUALIFY for military service. We have 1.3M active duty, 275K reservists, and 470K guard. That's ~2M troops. Of COURSE we can't recruit enough to keep those numbers up. And, retention? Pick a reason: We're cheap, our missions are obviously not about freedom, our strategies don't make sense, they ask for bigger sacrifice, they no longer believe government lies. I DO know we have issues at home, and Americans don't and CAN'T support the empire we've built abroad.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Neutral

This is another answer that needs nuance. War on Drugs-destabilized inner cities & Central/South America. War on Terror-destabilized the Middle East. Ukraine, Congo, Israel, Sudan, the US is a global destabilizing force. We HAVE to secure the border because we've created enemies around the world and they hate us. I'd love to leave the border open and fix our foreign policy. I think it would be best to fix both at the same time.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

We're the Great American Melting Pot. ALL are welcome. But, we're a land of opportunity. You come in, you MAKE YOUR OWN WAY. Kill the welfare state. Kill the policies that make people want to do us harm. How many of our Olympians were immigrants? That is our nation's strength. We just have to stop letting in those who only TAKE. Welcome those who want to BUILD.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Agree

Public School is a bane on the nation. There should at LEAST be public/private partnerships using existing infrastructure. Maryland spends..$19K per kid per year? PGCPS is a $2.5B dollar school district. MoCo and HoCo, two of our best school districts, have shockingly low on-grade level stats in reading and math. What we are doing isn't educating or serving our kids. It's immoral. I'm for ANYTHING that shakes education up.

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Agree

I've been saying this for years. Each state has a Dept Ed. Each city, each county has a school district (a mini DEd). PGCPS is $2.5B per year (17% in HS can do grade level math). At most, federally, we need a set of standards. We can spend $250K, bring 5 reps from each state to DC for a week and hash it out. We don't need 4500 employees and $50B spent federally.

VALUES

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Neutral

I don't think government should be involved in marriage at all. If you want to be married, get married through the church. If you want a civil union and all the tax breaks, go to government. Marriage is more like a contract now than a convenant.

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Choose not to answer

What happens when Covid hits and they want to mandate the vaccine. They say you're committing child abuse and they want to take your kid? There are children being taken because parents smoke cannibas. I want to protect children. I refuse to give government veto authority over healthcare decisions I make within my family. I mean, circumcision is technically genital mutilation, right? The line is individual liberty or government oppression. I'm team Liberty.

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Strongly Disagree

I don't think taxpayer funds should be used to fund ANYTHING healthcare related.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Love thy neighbor. Love thine enemy. Be kind to each other. That covers it, right? I have core values: Integrity, Loyalty, Kindness. I am not an angel. I am not beholden to money. In fact, I am not fundraising (principled stance). These people (millionaires) will spend $30M average to win Senate. It means you have to be rich or bought to win. That's the illusion, but it's not true. All it takes for ME to win is for Maryland to VOTE Mike Scott on the Vth of November. I am not a perfect messenger, but my message is pure. America is sick, less government is the cure.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Neutral

I'm not sure how much a problem it actually is. I hear the hubub on it. I hear the arguments. But, the numbers are under a few hundred every year. Maybe that will change if immigrants vote en masse, but I haven't seen that evidence. Truthfully, I'm more worried about hacking voter machines and voter intimidation.

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Agree

Definitely changed. Abolished would be OK too. But, the whole system would then have to change. Otherwise, Cali, New York, Texas, Florida, and Illinois could pick our leaders every election (if they broadly agree who it should be). Each state could get a vote based on the popular vote? Again, this is a great topic worth study, but SCOTUS bribes and ethical lapses are higher on my RADAR.

EQUALITY

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Choose not to answer

I don't know enough about CRT to have an opinion. All are free today, irrespective of race/national origin. We're free. Act like it. But, the US definitely has racist institutions. US Constitution, Article 1, Section 9: "The Migration or Importation of such Persons as any of the States now existing shall think proper to admit, shall not be prohibited by the Congress...a Tax or duty may be imposed...not exceeding ten dollars for each Person"

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Choose not to answer

Y'all put a lot of stuff into one question. Bio-Males shouldn't participate in MOST women's sports (not sure they'd have an edge in poker, breakdancing, or shooting). I'm not sure a Trans woman would enjoy time in a men's prison. How 'bout case by case decisions using compassion. We could also stop using broad, sweeping regulations to take quality of life from others. This type of thing though, case by case basis, in the community that is affected. One size can't fit all.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

Strongly Disagree

Almost nothing needs urgent political action. Environment is one of my focus areas. We can do a LOT in the sector to reduce impacts of climate change. Government regulation shouldn't be part of it, at least not federally. California has stricter emissions standards than do the Feds. Leave it to the states.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Nuclear. But, we need to invest in technologies that reuse spent fuel rods. Storing them isn't working out.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Moderate

I am fiscally conservative. My answer is we don't need it, and government shouldn't pay for it. Socially, I have personal views, but I don't think anyone's views should be forced upon another. Kant said Rationality and protecting conscious choice must be the basis for all of our moral reasoning. Jesus said how can you complain about the speck in your brother's eye when you have a plank in yours. I say how can I judge others for sinning differently than I. So, I err towards Liberty.

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

Protect individuals, protect rights, protect the environment, stay out of the way of innovation.

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

The Supreme Court should be reformed to include more seats.

Disagree

I don't think more seats are necessary. That's reminiscent of the Borgias expanding the Council of Cardinals. We need better SCOTUS Justices though; ones not compromised. SCOTUS needs ethics reform, a thorough inquisition, and round of impeachments for rulings like Citizen's United when they're accepting bribes...er, gifts from billionaires.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Agree

Not a one size fits all answer. LA-Rampart, Chicago Black Sites, NYC has a stop and frisk army. Different places need different policing. Every place isn't Mayberry. But, access to healthcare, mental health counseling, and better economic opportunity would be money well spent. If they get it from the police? Cops can continue to steal through speeding ticket quotas and civil asset forfeiture. So, other revenue streams are available.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I am the MOST pro-2A candidate you'll find. The Constitution did not grant rights, it listed SOME rights a free society aught not trample. In high school, they had guns in the truck & shells in the glove, every hunting season, no shootings. England is now banning knives. When do we address the sickness of society? Hopes and prayers won't do it. You need real reform in Healthcare, Education, Economy, Environment, and Equality. (HEEE); my instruments of individual liberty.
