QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?
The school should help the student through the pregnancy in every way possible, with flexible class and study options. If possible, the school should work with the student's parents to support her. The school should reach out to a pregnancy support center to provide material resources and encouragement throughout the pregnancy.
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Contemporary pro-choice/pro-abortion advocates are seeking abortion up to the day of delivery. No one can deny that that's killing a baby.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
The right to private property is an essential element of freedom, as is free enterprise.
What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
I want to see public schools become so excellent that they compete effectively for students in an open market. I think public funding should stop after high school. Public funding of colleges has only boosted tuition prices and ensnared institutions into harmful government control.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Teachers should be required to instruct students on mandated curriculum even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
In a free society, government cannot coerce speech. This violates fundamental rights upheld by law. However, a school can require certain material be taught as a condition of employment. The real need is to ensure that schools' curricula are moral, uplifting, and educational.
EDUCATION
Abortion and gender transitioning providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Strongly Disagree
In every abortion, at least one person dies. Gender transitioning is nothing more than harmful cosmetic surgery. One cannot change genders through wishing it, taking cross-sex hormones, or surgery. This only makes a person a permanent patient.
Consistent discipline creates a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.
Strongly Agree
Do you believe print and digital material available or presented to students should be easily accessible for public review, including those without children enrolled in school?
Yes
There is no legitimate reason to keep any instructional material hidden from parents or taxpayers.
Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.
Strongly Agree
Primary sources, such as the letters exchanged by John and Abigail Adams, should be used when possible to ensure that the depiction of American history is as accurate as possible.
I support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
Strongly Disagree
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are great-sounding words, but they mask an effort to divide students, not unite them.
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Agree
The effectiveness of education in the US over the last couple of decades is at least proof that the Department of Education does no good, and in fact it could be argued that it does harm to education. In Wake County, NC, 67% of students are not proficient in 9th grade math, and between 27% and 39% are not proficient in other core subjects such as reading and science. Clearly the Department of Education hasn't helped.
If a member of the public flags (challenges) a book as inappropriate and the school board disagrees, should the board impose a moratorium on when the book can be challenged again? If yes, for how long?
Did not answer
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning
Language Arts, Mathematics, American History, Science, Civics, Vocational Learning, Art & Music, Physical Fitness, Personal Finances, Foreign Language, Information Technology
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child instead of the bureaucracy, through a program which allows parents the freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Strongly Agree
Which should students have: equity of outcomes or equality of opportunities?
equality of opportunities. It is not possible to ensure equity of outcomes. Attempts to do so involve a fair amount of unrealism coupled with dishonest tactics like dumbing down the curriculum. Students who are struggling need extra personal attention from tutors to help them meet standards, not lowered standards and a pretense that they did as well as anyone else.
Which type of written parental consent should be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE)? (A) Opt-In. (B) Opt-Out. (C) None.
(A) Opt-In. This is a parent's responsibility. Having the school do it is worse than no sex ed.
Who should make decisions about whether or not a book is appropriate for children? A) the elected school board members; B) an outsourced community committee
A. The elected school board members. However, parents should be pro-actively informed whenever a book is added to or removed from the curriculum or the school library, and books in the curriculum and library should be open at all times to inspection by parents and taxpayers.
VALUES
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
God made each person in his own image. Every person has infinite value, and that value is not diminished by anything the person believes or does. However, every person has sinned, and only by turning away from that sin, and accepting Jesus' sacrifice of himself on the cross as payment for that sin, can a person be reconciled to God. God does not want anyone to perish, which is why he provided his Son as an escape from His righteous wrath. A believer in Jesus has an abundant life in this world and an eternal life in the next world.
Children have a right to reach maturity without chemical or surgical castration, which would damage their healthy bodies through surgeries and may cause a life-long dependence on cross-sex hormones.
Strongly Agree
If sexual education is taught in schools, what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?
Sex education should not be taught in schools. It is parents' responsibility to explain sex to their children at home. Even if parents fail in their resposibility, it is clear that teaching about sex by the schools make things worse, not better.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman essential to the formation and sustaining of a civil and prosperous society.
Strongly Agree
The word "marriage" has been taken over to mean things that aren't marriage. Reality is not defined by the words we use. In reality, marriage is and has always been an exclusive union of one man and one woman.
Parents have the fundamental right to raise their child in accordance with their beliefs and values, including the right to make decisions about the child's education and healthcare.
Strongly Agree
Parents should have full and timely access to any and all records, including school and medical records, associated with their minor children.
Strongly Agree
School children have the right to be protected from sexual grooming including drag shows and explicit materials with pictures of sex acts and graphic language.
Strongly Agree
Should schools be giving instruction on how to engage in sexual acts, the pleasures of sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity or should they instead focus on educating students about the science of reproduction?
The science of the human body, including sexual reproduction, should be taught by schools. The relational aspects of sex should be taught by parents.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
EQUALITY
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
There is very little conservatism left in our society, so it's sometimes hard to see the benefits, but if you compare the history of our country to that of countries like Venezuela and Argentina, it bears out what Ronald Reagan said: "Conservatism works, every time it's tried."
2ND AMENDMENT
The right to bear arms is fundamental and must be protected.
Strongly Agree
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
In the event of a pandemic, school districts can mandate whatever health precautions they deem necessary (including masks and vaccines) to protect students and staff.
Strongly Disagree
No government should have the power to coerce a person to take medicines, especially those such as the COVID vaccines which have limited benefits and known harmful side effects. All the studies on masking have shown that they had no effect on the transmission of COVID. Schools should follow actual science, which is readily available, not non-scientific proclamations by government bureaucracies.
