QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Agree
I believe the decision should be made between the adult patient and the doctor and each decision should be made on a case by case basis. I do believe that parental consent should be mandatory in cases where the patient is a minor. Government should not have any control. I personally do not believe that abortion should be utilized after fifteen weeks, unless for health reasons.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Neutral
I personally believe that there are many private organizations which should NOT be funded by the taxpayers but I also believe that it is our community's right to vote on specific issues and allow the ultimate decision to be decided by the People.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
The government shall not infringe on one's personal property or business if they are not a hazard or threat to the community.
What is your experience in managing budgets?
I have started and ran multiple businesses that generate millions of dollars a year. Among other responsibilities, I was in charge of the purchasing, management of staff and millions of dollars of equipment.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
No matter one's religious beliefs, we should respect them even if we don't agree. As long as an organization is not a threat of safety for American citizens, protection of the law is necessary to ensure the Constitution is upheld.
Under what circumstances should government close churches?
NEVER.
Individuals, organizations and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their civil rights and/or religious freedom.
Strongly Disagree
No business should be asked to do anything that would go against their personal civil rights, religious freedoms and personal ethics.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Agree
A strong military is a big part, but a great leader that can negotiate and does not always have to have his or her way can be even more powerful and strategically avoid use of said strong military. All conflicts are started by rights being violated, money, greed, or religion. We need leadership that can look at the whole scenario and find middle ground.
IMMIGRATION
What is a sheriff’s authority and responsibility regarding illegal aliens?
As the next Sheriff, the department will pursue all breaking the law, INCLUDING unlawful entry into the United States without proper documentation. I do not believe that this is an issue that one can "pass the buck" on, as seems to be the current situation.
Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.
Strongly Agree
EDUCATION
When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?
NEVER.
VALUES
A county jail inmate should be housed based on the inmate's preferred gender identity and not on the inmate's biological sex.
Strongly Disagree
Inmates should be jailed based on their biological sex. Cases of post-op surgical changes will need to be reviewed on a case by case basis for the safety of the inmates and staff.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am Christian.
Marriage between one man and one woman and the families they form are the foundation of civilization and are fundamental to the well-being and prosperity of society.
Agree
I believe that a strong familial structure is a major part, but we also need the community to stand together for the society to flourish. We have a generation of young children being raised without two active parents and unfortunately sometimes that allows opportunities for said children to be influenced by negative and unlawful behaviors of peers within the community. A tight knit community of parents, caregivers, friends, neighbors and deputies will provide a greater opportunity for success.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
What role do you believe the sheriff’s department should have in ensuring the integrity of elections?
I believe that a deputy is needed at every polling location to work hand in hand with the Supervisor of Elections. Part of the deputies responsibility would be to actually enforce laws when a candidates or citizens rights are being violated. I do not believe that the Sheriff's department should be endorsing any local or state races. When the department does this, it makes it look like the highest law enforcement officer in our county is stacking the deck in their favor.
EQUALITY
What steps and actions are needed to ease racial tensions?
I honestly think that having a leader that will listen to all sides and not become judgmental on every topic and subsequently violate rights, will play a huge role. A leader has the ability to bring the People together.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) instruction should be required for all county employees.
Strongly Disagree
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No.
What do you believe to be the primary role of sheriff?
First and foremost to uphold law & order by not violating the Constitutional Rights of our citizens and visitors. Also, adhering to a justified budget, respecting citizens and the media, and being the neutral party that upholds our county's safety.
What new training programs/policies would you implement in the sheriff's department?
This is a difficult question since I am not given any of the information from the department when I ask for it. With that said, I would first start with training regarding appropriate responses to mental health calls and de-escalation tactics, form a COMMUNITY advisory board for accountability on finances and equipment use, stop enforcing codes/policies that violate rights, and start encouraging deputies to speak up if they believe rights are being violated without fear of retaliation.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to immigration and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
I voted in these primaries and general elections:
2014 General Election 2016 General Election 2018 General Election 2020 General Election 2022 Republican Primary 2022 General Election
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support the death penalty.
Agree
How would you address the overcrowding of jails?
I would start focusing on crimes that involve actual victims and stop arresting citizens for city/county code violations or other victimless crimes. If we don't start addressing this issue, jails will always be overcrowded, costing taxpayers more money and increasing chances of recidivism due to lack of properly trained personnel and lacking personalized care for the inmate. We cannot arrest out the "poor", "addiction" or "mental illness" out of our community. Jails are a "for profit" business, same as the prisons. When a business' end goal is PROFIT, they WANT continued customers and have no interest in reducing overcrowding. This needs to change immediately.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
We do NOT need to violate an American's citizens Second Amendment right.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Agree
Union membership should be a requirement for employment in the sheriff's department.
Strongly Disagree
What role do you believe the sheriff’s department should have in ensuring public school safety?
The Sheriff's department should be involved in the safety of schools on a day to day basis making sure students, parents and guardians are safe, keeping crossing guards protected and providing on duty deputies or local law enforcement as needed. It is also the responsibility of law enforcement to ensure that the school board is held accountable for violating personal rights of parents, students and visitors on campus.
