QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Agree

The only reason I didn't click on strongly agree is a result of the fact that rape exists as well as does a deformed fetus.

What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?

A social worker should be involved in the process and the parents need to be contacted. They then can counsel the students and bring in other professional as needed.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Our consititution defines the freedoms of its Citizens therefore free enterprise and the right to private property is essential to adhereing to the Consitution!

What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?

The state and federal government tax its citizens. Much of that money goes towards funding public education from Kindergarten to 12th grade. States differ on pre-k funding and college funding. I personally believe that funding for pre-k and college should not come from tax money collected. In the case of special needs students there should be funding provided from pre-K to college.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Teachers should be required to instruct students on mandated curriculum even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Agree

Absolutely!!! When I was working as a principal, counselor and teacher we were never allowed to not use mandated curriculum and it was the principal's responsibility to ensure that with the use of the teacher evaluation tool. Today this is totally ignored and that lays on the role of the principal. The evaluation tool for principals in PVUSD reflect very little about curriculum use and achievement. The district also provides a supplemental curriculum list which gives choice to teachers.

EDUCATION

Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.

Strongly Disagree

Any organization connected with gender-affirming providers have no business in the public schools. That is the purview of the parents. In addition it is my opinion any professional in education does not have the background or the education to deal with this. Gender dysphoria is in the DSM manual making it a mental issue for Psychiatrists.

Consistent discipline creates a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.

Strongly Agree

Absolutely. There needs to be a discipline policy developed by the district. Principals need to ensure that it is followed. When I was a principal at the beginning of each year I had an assembly with each grade level and in a fun, fair manner the policy was explained to them. It then MUST be followed.

Do you believe print and digital material available or presented to students should be easily accessible for public review, including those without children enrolled in school?

Yes

First and foremost parents MUST have access to material being used to educate their children. Second there are tax payers that have no students in public school; however, they pay for the schools to function thus should have access to the curriculum being used.

Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.

Strongly Agree

Again ABSOLUTELY! One reason our country is in the state it is in has to due to a lack of such education. We had wars to separate us from England, France and even a Civil War. This has made us a strong county; however, unfortunately we no longer are because of a lack of education regarding our founding documents which when studied in its entirety leads to patriotism.

I support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).

Strongly Disagree

It is clear that there is a divide in our country on diversity, equity and inclusion; however, it has no place in public education. From the view point of public education we treat all students equally and foucs on reading, writing and math as well as other subjects. Any of their personal issues don't belong in the public schools. If there are special needs they need to get an IEP or 504 plan. Arizona is ranked 44th out of 50 states in achievement according to US News and World Report.

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Disagree

This is a hard one for me as over the years I have seen the US Department of Education make some really responsible positions. I was a fan of "No Child Left Behind" as it focused on learning and achievement. Then you have issues like title IX which I don't agree with and was supported until it reached the Supreme Court which I understand has been overturned. This topic can be a slippery slope.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning

1. Language Arts 2. Mathematics 3.American History 4. Science 5. Civics 6. Art & Music 7. Foreign Language 8. Informational Technology 9. Personal Finances 10. Physical Fitness 11. Vocational Learning

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child instead of the bureaucracy, through a program which allows parents the freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Strongly Agree

It is the citizens that pay taxes that support the schools. That being said parents have the right to put their students in a school that supports their beliefs. ESA money has become widely used in Arizona due to the poor performance of our schools. If they want more of the children back in public schools then they need to focus on achievment and learning and exlude any social, emotional topics. Florida ranks #1 in achievement in the US. I wonder how many parents use ESA money there?

Which should students have: equity of outcomes or equality of opportunities?

Equality of opportunites. Children come with different IQ's, different backgrounds, different role models and different environments. These issues play a great deal in the student's approach and ability in education.

Which type of written parental consent should be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE)? (A) Opt-In. (B) Opt-Out. (C) None.

Opt-In

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a strong conservative Christian. I earned a certificate in Biblical Studies. I have been involved in Bible Studies most of my adult life and wanted to learn more. So I enrolled in Mission Bible Institute to earn this certificate. I am believer in Jesus Christ, God and the Trinity and I have worked hard over my years to become more like Christ each year. I still have a ways to go but I do earnestly work on it.

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

The parents are responsible for teaching sex education to their children. Schools can offer such teaching as long as there is an opt-in form. My daughter found a medical company that offered such courses to kids and she paid them for that purpose. I don't think studenst should be involved in sex education until the 5th grade.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- abortion methods and side effects; abstinence; consent; contraceptive methods; human anatomy/the reproductive system; physical and emotional health outcomes; sex acts and pleasures of sex; sexual orientation and gender identity; stages of pregnancy and fetal development

I only support the offering of sex education in school if there is an opt-in form and it is not offered before 5th grade. Topics that should be included are:human anatomy/the repoductive sytem, stages of pregnancey and fetal development, and consent.

Children have a right to reach maturity without chemical or surgical castration, which would damage their healthy bodies through surgeries and may cause a life-long dependence on cross-sex hormones.

Strongly Agree

I add this. Gender disphoria is in the DSM manual thus making it a pyschiatrict issue. Accoring to doctors signs of such issues can start as early as age 2 to 4. How parents handle it results in what happens as they mature.

Children have the right to be protected from sexual grooming (including drag shows and explicit materials) in schools and libraries.

Strongly Agree

Public schools should in no way have books in the library that deal with sexual grooming. They should also not support any drag shows or explicit material. When they do this they take away the right of the parents and that is not what schools are for. They are for learning and achievement in reading, writing, math civics, history, and science.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman essential to the formation and sustaining of a civil and prosperous society.

Strongly Agree

Again I bring up the DSM manual. When such issues arise in the young if handled according to psychiatrists (not ones that support gender identity reality) the chance of a child having gender issues in later life is much less. Unfortunately many parents might not see the signs or understand the topic.

Parents have the fundamental right to raise their child in accordance with their beliefs and values, including the right to make decisions about the child's education and healthcare.

Strongly Agree

The schools have stepped into the parents role and are impacting beliefs and values. This is why test scores are so low and why there is so much controversy about this topic in the schools.

Parents should have full and timely access to any and all records, including school and medical records, associated with their minor children.

Strongly Agree

I can't understand why any school system would not allow this. Again these students belong to their parents. Parents lend them to us to educate not endocrinate. We are letting down our students and their parents when we take our foucs off of learning and achievment.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Unfortunately we have so many illegal people in the US that we need to really tighten up voter regisration and verification. Voter rolls need to be cleaned up which is not in total being done.

EQUALITY

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

This is why the supreme court over turned title IX. My only comment to this is how ridiculous. Males are build with somewhat stronger bodies and how unfair for them to identify as a women and be allowed to participate. Are there any woman who identify as a man and want to compete in male sports? Not that I know of as they would have no chance of winning.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

I voted in these primaries and general elections:

2014 Republican Primary 2014 General Election 2016 Republican Primary 2016 General Election 2018 Republican Primary 2018 General Election 2020 Republican Primary 2020 General Election 2022 Republican Primary 2022 General Election

The right to vote is a privilege that all citizens should use. I will vote until I go to be with God.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

This is a result of my parents and how they raised me, my own education as well as staying ontop of topics and candidates for each elections

2ND AMENDMENT

Faculty who are licensed to carry and have had ongoing training should be allowed to carry guns at school in order to respond to an active shooter situation.

Disagree

We can put police in schools; however, staff should not have them. Just the fact that they have them makes them accessible to students. There are all kinds of teachers, some are greatly organized, and some are forgetful. There are all kinds of personalities therefore the professionals, the police are the ones that should be in schools for the safety of the students.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

In the event of a pandemic, school districts can mandate whatever health precautions they deem necessary (including masks and vaccines) to protect students and staff.

Strongly Disagree

The medical professionals couldn't agree on the topic of covid. We still have questions about where it came from and how it spread as well as truely how many people died from it if any. This decision needs to lie at the state level which is even scarey as some states are very liberal.
