QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Disagree
Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.
Agree
Chemical abortion has a complication rate four times that of surgical abortion, and as many as one in five women will suffer a complication. Medical supervision would be highly beneficial.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
To defend the life of the mother.
Does the federal government have a role to play in limiting abortion, and if so what federal steps and/or federal legislation would you support?
The fundamental role of our federal government includes safeguarding the rights of the voiceless and disenfranchised. Our nation's history bears witness to this sacred duty, most notably in the abolition of slavery—a moral imperative that demanded the ultimate sacrifice from millions of Americans. Today, we face a similar ethical crossroads. Should we not call upon our elected representatives to extend the same protective mantle to the most vulnerable among us—those who cannot advocate for themselves? Concurrently, we must acknowledge the bedrock constitutional principle of self-defense. Our founding documents enshrine the right of citizens to protect their lives and property, even when such protection may result in the loss of another's life. This creates a complex legal and moral landscape that demands nuanced legislation. Our lawmakers must craft responsible policies that precisely delineate the circumstances under which defensive actions may be justified.
ECONOMY
What actions would you take that would allow Americans to retain more of their income and wealth?
Reduce government spending by auditing government programs for efficiency, eliminate wasteful spending, and reform entitlement programs to ensure long-term sustainability.
Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.
Agree
Student loans for colleges and universities should be turned into grants with the expectation of public service after graduation.
Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?
Yes
Congress has always considered environmental and social issues, among other factors, when investing public monies to further the national interest.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
There is no "one true way." The religion you find that works for you is because your interpretation of what you see and feel and understand as the truth is for you and you alone. It will not be another's truth. Our government, through the 1st Amendment, guarantees that the government will not uphold one individual or group's "truth" over another.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Disagree
The line has already been drawn between generic services and interrupted services. Example: I can sell you any cake, but I shouldn't have to make you one with a message that goes against my religious beliefs. Not selling you generic cakes would compromise the buyer's rights. Making a specific cake that demonstrates something antithetical to your beliefs violates the sellers.
HEALTHCARE
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Ethics require an informed choice. If a vaccine can be proven effective, it should be highly encouraged. However, there are too many religious and medical exceptions that make mandated vaccination untenable.
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options.
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger.
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Agree
Where the United States has chosen the military path to global influence, China has opted for a more long-term economic warfare grand strategy.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
The United States has a moral and strategic interest in the continued partnership with Israel.
What are the causes of decline in U.S. military recruitment and retention?
A more technologically sophisticated military needs fewer people. However, a cultural shift within the country and within the military discourages active, long-term participation.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Every country must protect its soverign borders. If we cannot control access into and out of our country, then we cease to become a country.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Anyone who is in good health, has no criminal background, and can prove a sound plan to not burden our society should be given a chance to immigrate to our country.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Neutral
The federal government should not be involved in these choices and programs. This is a local and state issue.
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Disagree
I do not believe in eliminating the U.S. Department of Education. Still, I do believe that it should be scaled back and States and communities should take primary control over the student's education.
VALUES
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Neutral
A religion can dictate to its members what form and function a marriage will take. However, any religion cannot dictate to those of another or no religion what form or function theirs may take. From a non-secular government perspective, a marriage is a contract between people. From a government perspective, it would be more beneficial to society if every marriage license required a marriage contract that spelled out the terms of the marriage.
Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.
Agree
I tentatively agree. We have long determined that children cannot enter into contracts and that they are unable to provide consent. However, parents have the right to raise their children in the ideology they believe in, and the government should not interfere with that privilege. The government should only interfere when the parent harms the child, whether psychologically or physically. That includes the encouragement of doing irreparable damage to the child's body
Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.
Disagree
I would not support the use of taxpayer funds for cosmetic surgery of any sort outside that of medical requirements.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
Southern Baptist
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
Voting in federal elections is for citizens only. Verification of identity is not an undue burden in today’s society.
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
Our election system is a system of compromises. The House embodies the principle of democracy in its purest form. Contrastingly, the Senate serves as the great equalizer among states. The Executive branch, helmed by the President, represents a unique hybrid of these two principles. This ensures that while populous states wield significant influence, the voices of smaller states are not drowned out in the selection of the nation's highest office.
EQUALITY
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.
Neutral
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
Nuclear and nuclear alternatives like Thorium.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Moderate
I don't have an extremist bone in my body.
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
To do what individuals and corporations cannot.
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
N/A
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
N/A
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
The Supreme Court should be reformed to include more seats.
Neutral
I'm not opposed to more seats on the Supreme Court - however, I will never vote for an increase here without an additional increase of Representatives in Congress.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.
Neutral
This is a complicated issue that involves local community, their priorities and mental health.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
First, we develop laws and regulations to ensure that honest people are honest and everyone knows how to operate in a society where we are essentially strangers to each other. Then, we develop consequences for breaking those laws and regulations to keep bad/stupid people from doing bad/stupid things. Lastly, we have law enforcement to enforce the first and second concepts. Support or opposition of gun ownership would need to clearly establish measurable impact.
