QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Strongly Agree
God is the author of life, which begins at conception.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
ECONOMY
It is the responsibility of county government to provide subsidized housing at taxpayer expense.
Strongly Disagree
I support using taxpayer funds to lobby the state legislature and/or U.S. Congress.
Strongly Disagree
Property taxes should be abolished.
Agree
I understand that property taxes are the primary way state and local governments fund their operations. However, if the government can seize your property for non-payment, can we truly say we own it? As a community, we all share in the responsibility of funding local government and services, but it's essential that we seek innovative solutions to finance these critical services without imposing such a heavy burden on taxpayers.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Government should not discriminate against individuals, organizations, or business owners who affirm marriage as between one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
IMMIGRATION
County officials should have the right to proclaim their county a sanctuary county for illegal aliens.
Strongly Disagree
Operative word is "illegal". No county, state or federal official should be able to harbor "illegal" aliens.
VALUES
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe there is One true God made up of 3 persons; Father, Son & Holy Spirit. I believe Jesus is the only way to the Father & that salvation is a gift. Colossians 3:23-24 guides me in all I do, driving me to work with excellence and integrity. "Do your work willingly, as though you were serving the Lord himself, and not just your earthly master. In fact, the Lord Christ is the one you are really serving, and you know he will reward you." I recognize my responsibility both to God and to the constituents who have entrusted me with their vote. Ultimately, my commitment is to honor God while serving those I represent.
Children have the right to be protected from sexually explicit materials in publicly funded libraries, including school libraries.
Strongly Agree
The fact that this is even an issue is heart breaking.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Photo IDs are necessary for everyday tasks, such as checking out library books, picking up prescriptions, or getting a job. Voting, a crucial civic duty, must be conducted responsibly & requiring photo IDs ensures election integrity/security. By verifying voter identity, we can confirm eligibility, prevent fraud, and maintain public confidence in the electoral system, thus protecting the rights of legitimate voters. Ultimately photo ID supports a fair & trustworthy democratic process.
All filings by candidates for municipal office, including ballot application and campaign finance reports, should be available for public online access on the county website within 24 hours of filing deadline.
Neutral
Ballot measures which include bond issues should fully disclose both the potential tax rate increase and actual monetary increase for the average single family residence.
Agree
Voters need to be given all the details so they can be an informed voter.
EQUALITY
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) instruction should be required for all county employees.
Strongly Disagree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Taxpayers should subsidize green initiatives such as electric vehicle charging stations.
Strongly Disagree
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
There are two quotes from President Reagan that resonate with me. He said "the government's duty is to protect the people, not run their lives" and "...man is not free unless government is limited...As government expands, liberty contracts". I believe in a limited, smaller government that provides for our security and stability, while prioritizing individual freedoms and spurs self-reliance and personal responsibility rather than dependence on the government.
Candidates and officeholders should be required to disclose all business investments and real estate, whether in the county or in an area currently proposed for annexation.
Neutral
Please list your business investments and/or real estate, whether within the county or in an area currently proposed for annexation.
The only business real estate we have is the building where our auto repair shop resides in Guilford County.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to immigration and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
I voted in these primaries and general elections:
2016 Republican Primary 2016 General Election 2018 General Election 2020 Republican Primary 2020 General Election 2022 Republican Primary 2022 General Election
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.
Strongly Disagree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
None. The 2nd Amendment doesn't have any fine print. We have the right to protect ourselves and our families.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Neutral
I don't think marijuana should be legalized for "recreational" use, but it does have medicinal properties and I don't think it would be a bad idea to look into the pros and cons of legalizing it for medical use and regulating it like any other controlled substance.
LOCAL
I support annual financial audits of every county department by an independent, third party auditor.
Agree
Please list up to three issues or projects that you think need the most attention.
In our county: 1. Promoting transparency and accountability. 2. Cut wasteful spending from the county budget in an attempt to lower taxes to incentivize business growth and investment. 3. Community safety.
