QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Agree

I believe life begins at conception, and abortion is clearly at odds with that. It is up to the mother's moral code to consider the consequences.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Agree

If PP actually assisted in planning parenthood, and not abortions, I would consider funding it.

ECONOMY

It is the responsibility of county government to provide subsidized housing at taxpayer expense.

Disagree

Taxpayers should not be responsible for providing arbitrary support without clearly defined and limited guidelines.

I support using taxpayer funds to lobby the state legislature and/or U.S. Congress.

Disagree

Citizens, sans taxpayer money, are responsible to advocate for themselves or to be part of privately funded advocacy groups.

Property taxes should be abolished.

Disagree

Although a laudable platitude, it's unrealistic to fund education, infrastructure, national defense or law enforcement using voluntary or pay-as-you-go funding.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Government should not discriminate against individuals, organizations, or business owners who affirm marriage as between one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Agree

That protection is already adequately delineated in the Constitution. Enforce that, and religious liberty is safe.

IMMIGRATION

County officials should have the right to proclaim their county a sanctuary county for illegal aliens.

Strongly Disagree

Individual states or counties to not have the right to subvert the United States Constitution, which does not allow arbitrary violation of Federal law.

VALUES

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a devout Christian. I believe every person has been given unique gifts and abilities by God, and our community leaders should be focused on putting those to use for the benefit of the individual as well as for our community.

Children have the right to be protected from sexually explicit materials in publicly funded libraries, including school libraries.

Strongly Agree

Children, by definition and law, are not consenting adults and should not be treated as such.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Photo ID's are available for anyone that wants one, and free of charge. To deny that is to intentionally jeopardize voter integrity.

All filings by candidates for municipal office, including ballot application and campaign finance reports, should be available for public online access on the county website within 24 hours of filing deadline.

Agree

Ballot measures which include bond issues should fully disclose both the potential tax rate increase and actual monetary increase for the average single family residence.

Strongly Agree

EQUALITY

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) instruction should be required for all county employees.

Strongly Disagree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Taxpayers should subsidize green initiatives such as electric vehicle charging stations.

Strongly Disagree

As an engineer I fully understand the folly of "green" initiatives. For the most part, they take more energy/resources to produce or sustain then they will ever provide in return. I challenge anyone with a working knowledge of physics and economics to debate me on that.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

To protect individual liberty, private property, and the general well-being of its constituents.

Candidates and officeholders should be required to disclose all business investments and real estate, whether in the county or in an area currently proposed for annexation.

Strongly Agree

Please list your business investments and/or real estate, whether within the county or in an area currently proposed for annexation.

None

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to immigration and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

I voted in these primaries and general elections:

2014 Republican Primary 2014 General Election 2016 Republican Primary 2016 General Election 2018 Republican Primary 2018 General Election 2020 Republican Primary 2020 General Election 2022 Republican Primary 2022 General Election

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Disagree

Only clearly defined, and proven successful community programs should be considered for funding. Defunding police departments does not work.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

If current laws were enforced there would be no need for restrictions. To treat gun law violations with a slap on the wrist has gotten us to where the 2nd Amendment, a clearly defined right of citizens, is constantly being challenged.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Disagree

A libertarian view would agree with that, which is usually where i fall. But as a society, allowing hallucinatory drugs to be used whenever desired, we are encouraging a less productive and more distracted citizenry.

LOCAL

I support annual financial audits of every county department by an independent, third party auditor.

Strongly Agree

Please list up to three issues or projects that you think need the most attention.

Responsible and accountable use of our tax dollars. Responsible, quality housing for the influx of new residents to Guilford County. Elimination of conflicts of interest between government officials of their vested interests in supported programs.
