RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Neutral
It's a representatives job to represent their district. We have a thorough set of tools to measure public opinion. A U.S. Representative will likely have very little to do with the abortion debate, unlike the Senate or a State offices, but to the extent that it does, I would measure the majority opinion of my district.
Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.
Neutral
In this day and age, in person consultation with a medical doctor should not be required. Reporting requirements should be the same as for vaccines.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
Same answer as Question 1. The majority opinion of my constituents would override any personal view I hold. To the extent that my personal view is important to a voter, I believe the end of the second trimester is a reasonable standard, with exception when the life of the mother is at risk.
Does the federal government have a role to play in limiting abortion, and if so what federal steps and/or federal legislation would you support?
Same answer as Question 1. My personal view is that the Federal Government should not be involved in as difficult and personal a decision as this.
ECONOMY
What actions would you take that would allow Americans to retain more of their income and wealth?
Insure cheap and reliable sources of clean energy, which means an all of the above approach to energy. Adjust tax policy so that sectors that are prospering the most (Hi tech, A.I., Wall Street, Military/Industrial) carry a greater tax burden.
Student loan forgiveness unfairly shifts the financial burden to those not responsible for student debt.
Disagree
Education is an investment in our nations human capital. We once publicly funded higher education and have abandoned that to a for profit model. If we maintained a healthy system for financing higher education, there would be no need to forgive loans.
Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?
Choose not to answer
Multiple criteria should be used to evaluate public investment. If the referenced criteria are balanced and rational then they should be included, if not, then no. In general, I want to focus on issues that directly affect the economic well being of working Americans.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
As a person of faith, I believe it is uniquely American to be simultaneously spiritual and secular. The Declaration of Independence begins with a theological idea, but the Constitution is clearly secular. America is about individual rights and liberty. If you allow religion into government, whose religion is it? Separation of church and state is fundamental to American Democracy. However, it is undeniable that Christian values have been integral to our history and culture.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

HEALTHCARE
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
The Covid crisis destroyed public trust in our healthcare system and regulatory bodies. We have to reform those systems, so the public once again trusts that health recommendations are in the interest of the public and not pharmaceutical companies.
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
I would choose B. I believe that market forces do not work for delivering healthcare, so a government funded delivery option is best, but it should not prevent private healthcare options from being available, as long as the system is designed to prevent a world where high quality healthcare is available only to the wealthy, and substandard healthcare available to everyone else.
NATIONAL SECURITY
With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.
I chose C. Our foreign policy is dominated by a post cold war view that the U.S. should be the single solitary global super power. That is naive, impossible to achieve, very expensive and very dangerous. Other great nations have legitimate national security interests in their neighborhoods. We need to invest far more foreign policy energy toward Central and South America that are our bordering neighbors and also supply significant natural resources.
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Neutral
We must monitor activities of China as we do other nations, particularly in the area of cuber-security and intellectual property espionage. We need to adjust our foreign policy priorities and emphasize engagement with China rather than confrontation and containment.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Our relationship is important to Israel. But we should not offer unconditional support if the Israeli government acts in an irresponsible fashion. Additionally, we typically provide $4 billion a year in aid to Israel, this year it is up to $19 billion. Yet Israel's national debt is 60% of GDP, ours is 123%. Israel trade surplus =$18 billion, U.S. trade deficit = $800 billion. Based on financial metrics alone Israel should be sending us aid.
What are the causes of decline in U.S. military recruitment and retention?
Congress has the power to declare war. The last war declared by Congress was WWII. Since then, we have not engaged in a single foreign conflict with a positive political outcome for the U.S. Yet our military personnel win all their battles and perform superbly in combat. This is a failure of the political establishment, and soldiers in the field are very aware of this failure. A nation cannot go to war without the support of its people and that support is expressed by Congress.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Criminal cartels south of our border make over $1 billion a year from the illegal immigrant trade, on top of trafficking Fentanyl which kills over 80,000 Americans a year. They market, promote and recruit new customers. We need to declare the cartels terrorist organizations, and put significant foreign policy pressure on Mexico to shut them down. In addition we need to provide a safe legal paid guest worker visa program for guest workers to come to the U.S. in a controlled fashion.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
We should establish annual quotas for a new fee based guest worker visa based on our economic and employment numbers. Migrants pay a few thousand dollars to $25,000 to cartels for illegal entry. Let them apply for guest worker status in their home country, pass a background check and pay that fee to the U.S. government. When they work here, apply an additional 3% guest worker payroll tax. This creates a rational manageable channel for guest workers that we control rather than the cartels.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Neutral
I would engage in dialogue with families in the public school system in my district to evaluate any proposed legislation. Whatever the mechanism, we must improve education in our country. we currently have a 3 or 4 tiered education system with economically challenged communities receiving an inferior education. I believe in equal education opportunity for all.
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Neutral
I am open to discussing how a transition like that could be managed and have effective equitable results. It would be contingent on strict Federal guidelines on how states allocate funding among school districts to insure equal opportunity for education. I also support programs to reintroduce education in the trades and personal financial management.
VALUES
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Neutral
My campaign is primarily concerned with economic issues that affect the future security of Working Americans. These divisive cultural social issues prevent us from working together to find solutions to the real world problems that keep people awake at night. If someone in my district stays awake at night worrying about the legal status of gay marriage, probably best they don't vote for me.
Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.
Neutral
I hold fairly traditional view of gender. But I also recognize that there is a legitimate medical condition known as gender dysphoria. When, how and by whom that condition should be identified and treated I don't have enough experiential knowledge to hold a position on. I would like to see statistics on how many children are affected by this and the details of individual cases.
Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian, but my Christian faith was marinated in the Native American way of life from time I spent among the Lakota and Northern Cheyenne Indians. As a young man, the first people I ever met (including family, church and Christian Young Life) that actually lived every day as Jesus taught were elders on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in South Dakota. It was a powerful experience and I have carried both traditions in me since then. My relationship with my Creator is the most important thing in my life. What I learned from the Native American warrior tradition is that the strong must carry the nation on their back. In our world it seems the strong walk on the the back of the nation and those less fortunate than them.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Neutral
If photo ID is required, states should provide them in a cost free and easy to access fashion.
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Neutral
It should be modified and states should be weighted strictly on population of citizens.
EQUALITY
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Neutral
I don't believe that institutions in the U.S. are currently fundamentally racist, but I acknowledge that they have been at past times in our history.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Neutral
I believe in the right of anyone to be whoever or whatever they please as long as they don't infringe on the rights of others. But if an individual has transitioned male to female during or after puberty when the body's frame was developed as a male, I think the rights of females in sports or shared spaces need to be considered as well. I do not support imposing a difficult or uncomfortable environment on female athletes or in shared housing situations.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.
Agree
This is a deeply politicized debate. Unfortunately there is not a laboratory large enough to model an entire planet, so computer models are relied upon which are easily challenged. Cleary the climate is changing for some reason. I believe we should err on the side of caution. BUT the current climate goals are not realistically achievable because of the demand on natural resources like rare earth minerals and copper. And we are running out of cheap easy to get oil. We need new technologies.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
We need to stop arguing about energy sources and support all forms of cheap reliable energy. We also need a Manhattan project for Research and Development of new energy technologies.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Moderate
I am an independent. I believe in the Representative Democracy that our Constitution established. It has been destroyed by the two party system. The two party system has become addicted to money, power and partisan gridlock. It discourages healthy dialogue to find common sense solutions. At least at the level of the House of Representatives, we need to see more independents elected to office, who are beholden to their constituents rather than the money donors of the party system.
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
To protect the rights of individuals, and promote the general welfare of its citizens.
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
The Supreme Court should be reformed to include more seats.
Neutral
I think instead of more seats, we should establish term limits to the Supreme Court, perhaps 16-18 years.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.
Neutral
There can be no universal answer for every police department. Every jurisdiction is unique. I believe there should be a reevaluation of national standards for police recruiting and training.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I am a gun owner of 8 guns. I happen to own an assault weapon, an AK-47, which I bought at the Nashville gun show. I bought it from a complete stranger for cash with no exchange of names or numbers. Any criminal or terrorist can do the same. I believe that should be illegal. I believe background checks and waiting periods do not infringe on my second amendment rights. I am tired of being perceived as a gun nut because of the NRA promoting extreme positions just to generate donations.
