QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

At any point in the 1st or 2nd trimester

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Disagree

There is no reason to treat medical abortion drugs differently than other drugs that can be legally prescribed through telehealth.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Disagree

If we are funding health services for the poor, it is not up to us to police individual medical procedures that money is used for.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Agree

I would support working with medical providers to come up with guidelines to implement assisted suicide ethically and safely.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Agree

What is your position on the minimum wage?

It should be raised to enough to pay for a minimum standard of living, then pegged to inflation going forward.

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

Yes

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Only under extreme safety circumstances, and then temporarily.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Agree

I feel nuanced on this depending on the situation - if you are providing essential health or government services, your beliefs should not enter into the equation. I am more neutral on forcing private businesses giving nonessential services, but I generally agree with nondiscrimination laws. Edge cases can be decided on a case-by-case basis.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

B is closest - public health provides a baseline with options to buy private care if you so wish.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

All public schools should be allowed to required vaccines against measles etc since all children have the right to a disease-free education. Hospitals/healthcare providers should be allowed to require any vaccinations they deem medically necessary.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Agree

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Yes, they are our major ally in the middle east region.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Agree

That should be coupled with immigration reform or we are fighting a losing battle.

EDUCATION

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Disagree

Public money is for public schools.

VALUES

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Disagree

The question is making unfounded assumptions. Of course children should be protected from grooming and abuse, but they are being lumped in with other things disingenuously.

Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.

Agree

Parents are the first line of decision making, but the state needs to have the ability to step in to prevent major harm.

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Neutral

Public health insurance like Medicaid should cover anything that private insurance would be expected to cover. Public insurance should not be more restrictive than private due to ideology.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Disagree

While religions define marriage their own way, marriage is also a legal framework and thus the state has the right to define it for legal purposes, without discrimination.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe in doing your best to do go and be a positive force in the world.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Agree

Photo ID can be an easy shortcut, but we should have an option to verify a person's identity another way if someone has no ID, like the TSA does if you try to fly without ID.

States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.

Strongly Agree

As much as I enjoy having a powerful swing state vote, all votes for President should count equally nationwide.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Yes, in the sense that there are organized groups plotting violence.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Disagree

I don't think that's what CRT says, but I do agree the institutions of the US are not fundamentally racist.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Neutral

This is a new framework, things can be decided on a case-by-case basis until we have enough information to come to a consensus. Sometimes it's fine for transwomen to occupy the same place at ciswomen, other times they may need their own 3rd space.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.

B and D

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

I am open to whatever scientists come up with and whatever the data shows is working best for renewable energy. That might be wind, solar, nuclear, or something else we'll come up with soon.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

To enable citizens to live happy and productive lives - whether that is protection, assistance, or getting out of the way.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Liberal

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Agree

This should be done with the idea of alleviating the burden on the police, not making their jobs harder. If we need to fund community programs first then see how that drops the need for police and funding, then that's what we need to do, not take away funds from the police on principal.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Universal background checks, safe storage requirements, annual training requirements, accountability for crimes committed with an owners gun.

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

No

That is the fastest way to a devastating school shooting. Just no.
