QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Agree
The state has an obligation to protect life. The moral exception is in the case where the mother's life or physical health is threatened.
What role should the school serve in helping a student with an unwanted or crisis pregnancy?
1. The school should provide education to all pregnant students, making accommodation as necessary . 2. In a case of suspected abuse or neglect, school personnel are mandated reporters. 3. Beliefs and practices in matters of sex, morality or religion are outside of the school's domain and should be referred to the parents.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Agree
What is your position on government funding of public education from Pre-K through college?
High performing public schools provide great value to students, families and society as a whole. However, in most cases, very young children thrive best in the care of their families. I would prefer to see public education begin with kindergarten at age five and half day school for kindergarten children. It is better to structure our economy so that families can afford the basics on one salary than to expand government scope.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Teachers should be required to instruct students on mandated curriculum even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Agree
Teachers certainly enjoy free speech rights. But in carrying out their duties, they must adhere to the requirements of their employer. If conscience doesn't allow that adherence, they face difficult choices. For example, a Muslim teacher might object to teaching the Holocaust, based on their religious beliefs. Nevertheless, the Holocaust is required to be taught. They must either teach accordingly or choose another role.
EDUCATION
Abortion and gender-affirming providers, including Planned Parenthood, should be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Strongly Disagree
Schools should avoid needless controversies; also matters of sex, morality and religion are generally outside of the school's scope.
Consistent discipline creates a safe and orderly environment, which is essential for student learning.
Strongly Agree
Students should be held to strict account for any disorderly conduct on school property. School policies and rules should be transparent; they should be enforced fairly and consistently.
Do you believe print and digital material available or presented to students should be easily accessible for public review, including those without children enrolled in school?
Yes
Both the parents and community have an interest in the public school's curriculum.
Educators should give students a thorough education in America's founding documents and cultivate American patriotism.
Agree
As much as possible, students should learn from primary sources.
I support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
Disagree
I support equal opportunities for all. I support meritocracy. The false claim that racial disparities are proof of racial discrimination is destructive.
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Agree
I support local school control and funding. I don't like to see tax dollars flow to DC, suffer bureaucratic waste, and then be dribbled back to the jurisdiction where the actual public services are provided.
Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): American History, Art & Music, Civics, Critical Race Theory, Foreign Language, Gender Identity, Information Technology, Language Arts, Mathematics, Personal Finances, Physical Fitness, Political Activism, Science, Sexuality, Social Emotional Learning, Vocational Learning
Language Arts Mathematics Civics Science American History Vocational Learning Informational Technology Foreign Language Physical Fitness Art & Music Personal Finances
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child instead of the bureaucracy, through a program which allows parents the freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Strongly Agree
Education is meant to benefit the child. Let's empower all parents to make the best educational choices for their children.
Which should students have: equity of outcomes or equality of opportunities?
Equal opportunity for all
Which type of written parental consent should be obtained before students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE)? (A) Opt-In. (B) Opt-Out. (C) None.
I support Arizona law which calls for parents to opt-in to sex education curriculum.
VALUES
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a practicing Christian.
Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?
The family is primarily responsible for sex education. It begins at a very young age, with understanding private body parts, with understanding babies. Sex education progresses as the child matures. When I was in public school, sex education was taught from a physiology perspective: puberty, reproduction basics. Reproductive physiology study is appropriate for 5th grade students and older.
If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- abortion methods and side effects; abstinence; consent; contraceptive methods; human anatomy/the reproductive system; physical and emotional health outcomes; sex acts and pleasures of sex; sexual orientation and gender identity; stages of pregnancy and fetal development
I support teaching these topics in public schools: human anatomy and reproductive system (perhaps from 5th grade and up), stages of pregnancy and fetal development, and abstinence and consent (for older students).
Children have a right to reach maturity without chemical or surgical castration, which would damage their healthy bodies through surgeries and may cause a life-long dependence on cross-sex hormones.
Strongly Agree
Follow the science.
Children have the right to be protected from sexual grooming (including drag shows and explicit materials) in schools and libraries.
Strongly Agree
Public indecency is never appropriate, and certainly not around minors.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman essential to the formation and sustaining of a civil and prosperous society.
Strongly Agree
Marriage was ordained by God to be one man and one woman, united for one lifetime. Other arrangements exist between consenting adults, but they are not marriage, as originally defined.
Parents have the fundamental right to raise their child in accordance with their beliefs and values, including the right to make decisions about the child's education and healthcare.
Strongly Agree
Parents are responsible to nurture their children from infancy to adulthood. In cases of legally defined abuse or neglect, the state must investigate and sometimes step in.
Parents should have full and timely access to any and all records, including school and medical records, associated with their minor children.
Strongly Agree
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I support fair, open elections where everyone who is legally entitled to vote has the right to cast their ballot and have that ballot counted properly.
EQUALITY
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
I have never been accused or convicted of a felony.
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
I have never been accused or penalized for sexual misconduct.
I voted in these primaries and general elections:
Choose not to answer
I understand my voting record is publicly available. However, school boards are non-partisan and I respect that designation.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
2ND AMENDMENT
Faculty who are licensed to carry and have had ongoing training should be allowed to carry guns at school in order to respond to an active shooter situation.
Neutral
I would need to understand the details surrounding any policy allowing weapons in school.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
In the event of a pandemic, school districts can mandate whatever health precautions they deem necessary (including masks and vaccines) to protect students and staff.
Disagree
Looking back at the Covid response, we see harmful, massive over-reaction, especially regarding children and schools. As a society, we suppressed science, rather than following it.
